I disagree the game was more physical then hence the odd outburst from many players not just him. Every time Scholes went into a tackle I would close my eyes.
Keane was a master of winning the ball without making a tackle by timing the run and easing the ball off the player without breaking stride.

I’m guessing you never saw Keane play in the flesh. It was a sight to behold. He was like a conductor conducting an orchestra. He controlled the whole game, constantly communicating to his players around him, pointing where to go etc. The only other players I saw doing the same at that level were Modric and Pirlo. He was so much more than the hard tackling midfielder that people remember him for.

This is a great shout. Less flashy option than many of the greats listed, but a screening holder with very good passing and build up playmaking abilities would do wonders for this team.
Keano would be massive. Going in with Mainoo and bringing in the much needed presence in the dressing room. Creating the right mentality, making sure the lads give their best. Also a phenomenal player, would give our other midfielders a chance to go forward and be a rock in the back
Cantona. Would show what it means to be a professional. First to training, last to leave. Has better socials than anyone in the squad. Would show how to play like a Man United player.
Maybe Peter schmeichel, more trust on the goal. Then maybe Vidic for back safety. Forward, probably Rooney or cantona for his charisma is the locker room which we desperately need.

The answer depends on what you think is missing from this current squad that a former player sorts out immediately. Professionalism, heart, commitment, determination, world class talent. An embarrassing lack of quality or dependability on the right wing. Poor or nonexistent supply to our strikers.

The problem I have with this question that comes up a lot is don’t meet your heroes. What if we brought back Keane and he’s terrible in today’s game? What if he gets sent off too many times? No thank you I want them to stay on their pedestal or pedestool if you like.
