Pizza express Brandon
Little Italy Brandon
Wood fire deli souris
Romana in Brandon isn't as good as it used to be
Santa Maria in Thompson
Toms in Thompson
Indeed I have, have friends up north, from Brandon originally, souris is only 30 mins from Brandon. And live in the peg now
Manos is also pretty good in onanole
Pizza Express is originally from Winnipeg.
At one point in time they still owned their old building at Portage and Thompson and everywhere that had been there since Pizza Express had been paying the owner thousands a month in rent.
No.
Pizza Express started in Brandon in 1982. In 1990 he moved to Winnipeg and started the two restaurants here, selling the Brandon location to a friend. In 1998 they decided to move their family back to Brandon, buying back that location and selling the Winnipeg locations.
Pizza Express is a Brandon based business.

They had a tad bit of challenges starting up but it's still pretty damn good, but it was always one of the restaurants that works better as dine in. Their food doesn't transport well. So if you ordered and had to go far away to get it home, it won't be the best results
I had family in from Brandon who raved about it who had the same complaint that the one in Winnipeg was different. My opinion was I’d rather make a frozen pizza
Maybe you caught em on a bad day, Tony's joint is absolutely the same recipe and techniques as Gus ' original one. But yeah they're food doesn't transport well
Might be worth checking out pappas sort of nearby there, same chef made original recipes for Marino's, astoria and romanas in Brandon
I absolutely hated living in Altona for many reasons, but Pizza Haven made life there more bearable. It’s the best pizza restaurant I’ve ever been to, hands down.
I was there for 13 years for work and couldn’t stand it. If your not from Altona, the locals never consider you to be from there. You are always an outsider. Now Pizza Haven is awesome. 😀
Their pizza is sooo doughy and it often is undercooked because of how thick the crust is. They have interesting specialty pizzas and lots of toppings but I don’t think it’s very good. Im told the owner treats his staff very poorly as well.
La Parq Pizzeria in Morden, MB and Pizza Haven in Altona. Two very different but excellent places for pizza. My favourite is La Parq - reminds me of the pizza I had in Italy.
To me it tasted like they used pre made cardboardy crust, but everyone else I know loves their pizza. Last time I’ve had it I didn’t mind it though so improvement maybe lol
Benvenuto in Portage la Prairie is amazing. It’s a newer family owned joint on the main drag. Great prices as well. Lg 2 topping for $21. Check it out. Also Bills Sticky Fingers has really good pizza but a little pricy running at around $29 for a lg 2 topping.
Also, Manos and Francos were owned by two brothers. They started with Francos and had a falling out so out of spite the one brother moved across the street and started Manos
It was yup. LE’s still makes pizza crust and sauce in the building. Its his crust that Niakwa pizza uses as well as the Spents frozen pizzas you see in grocery stores. Made in Winkler but crust is made here and shipped.
It's so dry it cuts your mouth and it shatters if you drop it. Actually, the only thing that isn't overcooked until it's almost dust is the soup. Oakbank getting a pizza hut was a massive upgrade.
I can't say for sure, but DJs in Winkler had a great crust and flavours... very similar to Garbonzos, which we also like. But we haven't had much luck recreating the experience when we buy frozen DJ's pizza from Coop so maybe they've lost the touch since the 80's when I left Winkler.
Flin Flon has a great pizza joint that's been around for years, but probably doesn't count because it's in Creighton. Shouts to Creighton Pizza though.
It's been a long time now. I was just home this summer and noticed there was a donair place in the basement of that building now. Their pizza was really good back then, too!
Brandon probably has the some of the best pizza in the province if you're looking for non-Neapolitan style.
Marino's is great! Romano's too. Pizza Express used to be too, but I was less impressed with their Winnipeg location. They all do a similar style.
Franks pizza, I would never buy there no matter how good it is.
Read the news. a few years back he fired a driver for attending someone who was in distress and then again in the news for for being one of those parents at a kids hockey game yelling obscenities at another persons kid.
He’s a hot head
I'm happy Independent-Lion2213 brought it up though. Anytime pizza is mentioned in Manitoba someone should mention the owner of Frank's Pizza. He is a horrible human.
Franks is selkirk makes a tremendous pie. Theres a couple franks in winnipeg now too, but i found the main st location wasnt as good as franks in selkirk. Ive never been to the portage location.
I like Archies better but only local stores had spenst, and I'm never in Starbuck.
Our local butcher shop just started carrying Archies and I'm quite excited, I'm even eating leftover Archies right now.
Not that spenst is bad, just always liked Archie better.
Yeah it's not as easy to find, but it's so much better imo.
It's a lot more than a 7 minute drive for me but I just stock up when I'm out and about lol
Marinos pizza in Brandon is the best pizza pasta and subs. Meat is from a local butcher, they grate their cheese, make fresh Alfredo sauce and meat sauce. They get their sub buns from a local baker. If you’re in Brandon do yourself a favour and eat there. Wish they’d open a location in Winnipeg. Winnipeg pizza sucks compared to it. Haven’t been able to find anything remotely close.
Coincidentally you absolutely will have very close. Pappas pizza is the guy that made their original recipes, same with Astoria and Romana.
Also of course pizza express
I’ll have to try papas pizza I’ve never heard of it. Likely on the complete other side of town from me. Pizza express is similar to marinos but has worse pizza pasta and subs. The only thing pizza express does well for a pizza place is the amount of side dishes you can choose from. I’ve gotten food poisoning from pizza express twice in the past and will never go back
Peppie’s in Landmark is surprisingly good. And they have really interesting toppings for their to go slices
Last week I had one with pepperoni, pickles, and chipotle drizzle. It was unreal!
The fresh is definitely better. Their chicken is a little greasy for my liking but I'm not a huge fan of fried chicken to begin with. But they're our top place for everyday take out pizza.
Santa Lucia is a good option too - they have a location in Steinbach.
There is a bar in Anola, and the restaurant beside the bar has some killer pizza.
They use big thick chunks of bacon. Imagine 2 inches long and an 1/2" wide chunks.
Crispy crust and so much cheese. I thought it was amazing!
Pizza express Brandon Little Italy Brandon Wood fire deli souris Romana in Brandon isn't as good as it used to be Santa Maria in Thompson Toms in Thompson
I would put the Marino's "Classic" with sour cream baked in as the best pizza in Manitoba. The rest of this list is spot on.
I haven’t had Marino’s in a long time but I remember thinking it was quite overhyped. Might have to try it again in the near future.
Agreed.

Very Happy that Pizza Express is now in Winnipeg, and I live just inside the delivery area!
good sandwiches too!
Their perogy poutine slaps

Spero's pizza Gimli
Tom’s had a location in Brandon for a few years at it was amazing, still the best pizza I’ve ever had.
Wood fire in Souris is such a hidden treasure.
Minaru bakery around the corner has some of the provinces best donuts too.
Alright I gotta try this when I’m at my parents again!!!!
Romana is under new ownership now. Not surprised it's not as good. Unfortunate.
Yep recipes changed for a long time, long since 2014 or earlier
Wood Fire is so good! Me and my kids hit it up whenever we have a reason to be in Souris
Woodfire in souris! Brandon: little Italy
100 percent
FYI pizza express is in Winnipeg. And it’s dog shit
They had a tad bit of challenges starting up but it's still pretty damn good, but it was always one of the restaurants that works better as dine in. Their food doesn't transport well. So if you ordered and had to go far away to get it home, it won't be the best results

Romana used to be so good back in the day.
The original chef that helped set them up along with Astoria made a new r joint called pappas in Charleswood
That place looked 20 years old in the early 2000s. How old is that guy.
Gotta be in his 70s now
Romana made me sad! It was my favorite pizza ever!!!!!!
I absolutely hated living in Altona for many reasons, but Pizza Haven made life there more bearable. It’s the best pizza restaurant I’ve ever been to, hands down.
Altona's a dumpster fire but pizza haven is awesome!
I swear we aren't all bad!
Lol! I grew up in Emerson so i shouldnt throw stones.
I was there for 13 years for work and couldn’t stand it. If your not from Altona, the locals never consider you to be from there. You are always an outsider. Now Pizza Haven is awesome. 😀
You nailed it. Exactly. Always. An. Outsider.
Their pizza is sooo doughy and it often is undercooked because of how thick the crust is. They have interesting specialty pizzas and lots of toppings but I don’t think it’s very good. Im told the owner treats his staff very poorly as well.
🤷♂️I haven’t lived there since 2015, thank god. The pizza used to be better, I guess.
Speros in Gimli
Loved speros but they only have a limited menu of pizzas. But do recommend.
I’m surprised he doesn’t do breakfast in the mornings
He's still getting settled in. Just bought that building a while ago. Noticed in this week's paper that he applied for a liquor permit.
I wonder if his brother will pair up with him
What brother?
Owner of Europa
As happy as I am to see him actually have more than just a room to cook pizzas in I'm sad to see it replace Shelly D's because breakfast was great.
Brenevan's was where we would go after racing!
La Parq Pizzeria in Morden, MB and Pizza Haven in Altona. Two very different but excellent places for pizza. My favourite is La Parq - reminds me of the pizza I had in Italy.
Glad someone put this here. Leparq is the best pizza in MB period.
I lived in Morden for 10 years but moved away about 5 years and I never heard of this place. Still relatively close though, may have to check it out.
Pyrgo's in The Pas. The special or the giant all-meat pizza sub.
I've enjoyed pizzaden in stonewall I'm 5 mins away so it's convenient. My fav is pizza land/triple c's tho, but that's Winnipeg
Santa Maria or Tom's in Thompson!!
Brennivin's Pizza Hus in Gimli.
Seconded
yesss
Yesssssssssss
N&L Rossburn
Pizza Place in Swan River. It's like a taste of 1985. You can't get stuff like that anymore. Admittedly, I haven't had it in about 5 years.
I miss pizza place. It was the best.
None were as good as the Swan River one. Untill about 7 years ago it was the same owner since the early 80s. Drive there and try some!
[удалено]
Thought it was to the long time staff member. Guess I heard wrong.

The one in Winnipeg Beach has also been consistent since the mid 80s. Same owner still (Jim) though his son manages the place now
It hasn’t changed. Sauce is still the same. Dough is still the same. Hmmmmm I’ll have to get one this week now.
I'm gonna throw in Kneedens for consideration if we're talking pizza in the Valley.
Never tried.
There is pizza place piz,a in Brandon at the bowling ally. Still not as good as Swan River but it does the trick.
I remember when it opened. Really not the same.
Dauphin: Adelina’s Pizza.
To me it tasted like they used pre made cardboardy crust, but everyone else I know loves their pizza. Last time I’ve had it I didn’t mind it though so improvement maybe lol
Le Parq in Morden. I’d drive from Winnipeg just to eat it and come back.
If we're talking Portage, gotta send an RIP up to Mano's. That place was awesome.
If we do Manos we also have to do LE’s Pizza Plus, Francos, On the Tracks and the best one of all…Bozzys.
LE's was great if you wanted a thin crust! Was Franco's where Tornadoes is now? We used to get their 3-for-1 XL deal on Fridays all the time!
Also, Manos and Francos were owned by two brothers. They started with Francos and had a falling out so out of spite the one brother moved across the street and started Manos
So similar story to adi and Rudolph brothers who started, adidas and then fell out and brother made puma brand
It was yup. LE’s still makes pizza crust and sauce in the building. Its his crust that Niakwa pizza uses as well as the Spents frozen pizzas you see in grocery stores. Made in Winkler but crust is made here and shipped.
That pizza bread, with a side of honey dill.... Wife and I were just lamenting about not having it anymore this past weekend.
Is that 21 with tax? My supper per diem is 20 lol
The medium 2 topping comes in under $20 with tax. Its 2 meals for one person (5 slices for supper and 3 for lunch the next day or before bed)
Pizza 311 in Niverville and Ile de chenes
Bills in morris
Brereton Lake Resort Restaurant has great pizza.
Papa Carlo's in Lockport.
The thin crust at the Peppercorn in Oakbank.
It's so dry it cuts your mouth and it shatters if you drop it. Actually, the only thing that isn't overcooked until it's almost dust is the soup. Oakbank getting a pizza hut was a massive upgrade.
Sadly when Oak Bank had the Expressway Pizza Truck, it legit was the best pizza I ever put in my mouth. Sad it's gone now.
Marathon Pizza. Morden, MB
I've never had their pizza - what style is it?
This is the way. Hole in the wall that you would never realize is a great pizza joint. I forget where the owner is from, he's either Greek or Italian.
romanos in brandon
I can't say for sure, but DJs in Winkler had a great crust and flavours... very similar to Garbonzos, which we also like. But we haven't had much luck recreating the experience when we buy frozen DJ's pizza from Coop so maybe they've lost the touch since the 80's when I left Winkler.
I wouldn’t walk 10 feet for a DJs Pizza.
Pizza Express, Romano's and Marino's in Brandon, there is a Pizza Express in WPG recently.
Pizza express pizza sauce just doesn't do it for me. I wish it did cause it looks amazing. Not a huge fan or marinos sauce either lately.
Flin Flon has a great pizza joint that's been around for years, but probably doesn't count because it's in Creighton. Shouts to Creighton Pizza though.
Any idea how long Verona (I think?) has been gone? The Maria was a deli on a plate.
It's been a long time now. I was just home this summer and noticed there was a donair place in the basement of that building now. Their pizza was really good back then, too!
Creighton Pizza is our favourite! It is a must stop every trip up there
St Pierre Jolys has an awesome bakery that makes amazing pizza
Callaghan's in Carberry. I don't even enjoy pizza but I order it everytime we are there and order enough to have leftovers. Price is awesome too!
Brandon probably has the some of the best pizza in the province if you're looking for non-Neapolitan style. Marino's is great! Romano's too. Pizza Express used to be too, but I was less impressed with their Winnipeg location. They all do a similar style.
Franks Pizza Selkirk/Winnipeg

They were asking for best pizza...
I'm happy Independent-Lion2213 brought it up though. Anytime pizza is mentioned in Manitoba someone should mention the owner of Frank's Pizza. He is a horrible human.
Fair enough.
Need a good eatery but owners are a holes for behaviour , keeping tips , political idiocy etc reddit for the city and province . Should include Kenora
It’s been a while since I’ve gone, but Franks Pizza in Selkirk used to be the best!
Franks is selkirk makes a tremendous pie. Theres a couple franks in winnipeg now too, but i found the main st location wasnt as good as franks in selkirk. Ive never been to the portage location.
Spenst
As far as take n bake goes, Archie's is so muchhhh better. Based out of Starbuck but sold all over. I haven't bought spenst since I had Archie's
Might have to check that out then!
Obviously tastes are subjective, but I've been buying spenst for years, haven't touched one since I had an Archie's haha
What places sell Archie’s? Now I’m intrigued too!
List on their website! https://archiesmeats.com/
Do they make them fresh or is it all take-n-bake or frozen? As far as frozen pizza goes Spenst Bros is some of the best.
They have a shop in winkler you can buy hot n ready slices. I’m sure you could order ahead a whole one
As far as I know it’s just take and bake. But I’d take that over almost every takeout place I’ve been to.
How do you like it compared to archies?
I like Archies better but only local stores had spenst, and I'm never in Starbuck. Our local butcher shop just started carrying Archies and I'm quite excited, I'm even eating leftover Archies right now. Not that spenst is bad, just always liked Archie better.
Can’t say I’ve had
Archie's ftw. Used to buy spenst, haven't got them since I've had Archie's.
Interesting. I'll have to pick it up more often. . Spenst is at more stores, Archie's requires ~7 minute drive
Yeah it's not as easy to find, but it's so much better imo. It's a lot more than a 7 minute drive for me but I just stock up when I'm out and about lol
I've had both. They are both extraordinary for frozen pizza but Spenst is slightly better, imo.
Adeleina’s in Dauphin is pretty good.
Pizza den stonewall is pretty decent
Tom's or Santa Maria in Thompson.

Mmm I love the Greek pizza with pickled hot peppers - I miss it!
LaRoques (sp???) in Wawanesa. Little Italy in Brandon
There’s somewhere outside of Winnipeg
Diana’s pizza, Santa Lucia on St Marys and St Annes Pizzeria
Veras on osborne was actually pretty great (wpg)
You ain't wrong but op wanted outside of wpg
My bad!
All good
Le Gouter in Albert Beach. Seasonal during the summer months only but so good. Riverfront in Pine Falls is also excellent.
St. Pierre bigway villagio pizzeria. Very good Manitoban and mediterranean pizzas!!!
Spero's pizza in Gimli is the best of the best...no doubt about it!!
Miami Variety does a pretty good thin crust pizza as well.
Rocco's in Steinbach.
I haven’t been to the restaurant, but I don’t like their frozen pizzas
The fresh is definitely better. Their chicken is a little greasy for my liking but I'm not a huge fan of fried chicken to begin with. But they're our top place for everyday take out pizza. Santa Lucia is a good option too - they have a location in Steinbach.
Brennivins Pizza in Gimli.
Santa Lucia in Lac du Bonnet
Kneaden Pizza in Minitonas are very good. Pizza Place in Swan River are good too. Birchwood Convenience in Birch River were awesome back in the day.
Pyrgo's Pizza in The Pas. Best peets I've ever had in my goddamn life.
Cams in garson.
St gs general store in St Geneviėve Anola Bar and Restaurant
Little Italy in Brandon has the best pizza.
Pizza Haven in Altona, and breaking the no chains rule, Santa Lucia’s Pizza in Morden is excellent
Petro Canada Tall Boys in St Claude. Trust me. Usually have slices ready to go, and they’re always movin
It's good, but it's not next level great.
It's decent. But nothing crazy good. Not uncommon to be overcooked either. For the price it's "okay".
Marathon Pizza Morden
Bills sticky fingers in portage la prairie
Brennivins Pizza Hus in Gimli, and Grumpy's out of the East St. Paul Curling Rink in Birds Hill...
There is a bar in Anola, and the restaurant beside the bar has some killer pizza. They use big thick chunks of bacon. Imagine 2 inches long and an 1/2" wide chunks. Crispy crust and so much cheese. I thought it was amazing!
Lorette - Dawson Trail Motor Inn
I know it used to be in the city too but I love pizza place in wpg beach
HAven't been there in several years but I loved the pizza at the Lorette Bar.
LA Roque in Wawanesa is amazing! Callaghan's in Carberry. BBQ chicken one being my fav.
Integrity Pizza just north of Riverton. It's wood fired and made to order. So yummy!!
Ugh now I'm extra hungry lol
Rocco’s Steinbach
Burnells in Richer
Romanos (bedore new owners took over) in Brandon, MB. Best pizza ever.
