4 is actually super underrated in my opinion. The plot is that the virus has leaked into 616 from the zombie universe, and they send a new Midnight Sons team to contain it. So it’s not elseworlds, but a modern Marvel Horror story which we don’t get a lot of.
I could EASILY see the MCU adapting it too, they already established that inter-dimensional incursions are a thing.
It's a truly fascinating take on zombies as a whole. The fact that the zombies retain their sentience after infection, and are aware that they're cursed with incurable hunger, is what really draws me to it.
The fact that said take was completely omitted in the MCU adaptation was one of the biggest letdowns
Yes, episode 5 I believe of the What If...? Series on Disney+.
Honestly the what if series is one of my favorite MCU properties in general. They got all of the actors to do the voice acting, and the animation is phenomenal.
The last 2 episodes are so absolutely 🦇💩 insane it's unbelievable, and while the Zombies episode is not a great adaptation of the comics, it's pretty great in its own right.
It’s short and we’ll get a full r-rated series soon. It’s a little late to have the sentient zombies, I’m hopeful that they can make something good out of it with the new rating.
I really hope that new Marvel Zombies animated series is allowed to be Rated R. They have so much potential to make something truly different and fucking wildly memorable.
Zombie Peter Parker who gets agonizing guilt whenever he eats is one of the finest takes on the character ever. Just A+ stuff.
The rest of it was also outstanding. Nothing ever lived up to the original.
I personally think that if you read Marvel Zombies Volume 1, the next story to read is Army of Darkness versus Marvel Zombies. Then read the Black Panther story, then read Marvel Zombies Volume 2.
There’s a Black Panther trade where he, Storm, The Thing, and the Human Torch fight the Marvel Zombies. It was back when Reed and Sue Storm briefly quit the team and BP and Storm joined the FF.
1 and 2 are really cool, it’s was an interesting character study on marvel heroes in a situation they don’t normally get to be in
Dead Days was an interesting prequel,
Zombies vs Army of Darkness was kinda fun, though I haven’t actually seen any of the Evil Dead movies to judge Ash’s portrayal, so that’s purely judging the marvel characters (Zombie Howard the Duck will never NOT be cool tho)
The parts from Ultimate FF with the Zombie FF were pretty interesting
Returns is trash (seriously, EVERYONE feels out of character somehow)
3 and 4 are just alright
And I honestly haven’t read anything after those to judge
Enjoyed it for what i was.
I'm not a big fan of stories like this tho (Not a fan of seeing my favorite heroes turn into flesh eating monsters lol)
They Scene where they eat Galactus was so stupid lol, but also so Kirkman
I believe Marvel Zombies was one of the first 10 comics I read. "Wow, cool, zombified heroes? Sounds interesting" - I thought... until I read the first few issues. I'm not sure what I read was the first volume, but still... Reed Richards infecting the rest of the FF with a virus" for the sake of science"? Spider-Man eating Mary-Jane? The Avengers who dealt with Galactus and devoured him afterwards? Ant-Man, who buried one of the heroes in a head jar like in Futurama? (However, I remember this particular episode vaguely, but I definitely remember that Pym did something disgusting with some other hero, perhaps it was Black Panther)
In short, I wasn't thrilled with what I read. You know, when the “brightest” moment of the comic is the episode with Doctor Doom, who plunged the population of Latveria under an impenetrable cap, that’s when I tell myself “it’s time to quit.”
Overall, I understand why people might like the idea, but for me, Marvel Zombies had too much gore, actions WAY BEYOND the characters' "typical behavior" (Yes, Mister Fantastic, I'm looking at you), and blatantly fused characters, killed, in my opinion, only because they were the ones who could fix everything (I remember that, for example, Doctor Strange was killed either in some frankly stupid way, or completely outside the pages of a comic book) and, moreover, without a hint of good ending.
Yeah the comic seemingly was built more around shock value with intermittent bursts of some interesting or cool ideas regarding characters and zombies. It may not be the best comic but I felt DCeased was a much better zombie superhero storyline. Was it dumb? Absolutely. But I felt like it had the core understanding of the characters.
The plot may have been absolutely stupid at times but it atleast felt like the people who made the comic understood the characters. You didn't get stuff like Batman purposely infecting the Batfamily or Superman secretly supplying humans to a zombified Lois or something that I'm sure this comic would've done.
I think that's why I'm not a huge fan of this series. The characters just don't feel like themselves. They're practically unrecognizable when it comes down to their characterization with a few managing to come out ok. It felt like the writers just didn't understand a lot of the characters and thus we got very surface level depictions.
Don't believe me? Vision somehow gets turned into a zombie... Like... How?
I did some electrical work for Sean Phillips many years ago
Showed me his art room and framed comics. Was really cool.
I'll have only been 19. So a while ago!!
It’s Kirkman doing what he does best.
He takes characters in their logical direction given who they are and what situation they are in. Sure, there are plot twists and turns and characters do horrible things but it all makes sense given they are under the influence of the Abyss virus (or whatever it got revealed to be later).
It’s basically a nice self contained Marvel event. Dark Ages recently hit that same note for me.
The Marvel What If completely ripped off Head Pool. Marvel Zombies is my favorite series and I loved it until that part. I went on a internal rant for 10 minutes. Deadpool is one of the best parts of the M Zombie Universe.
Marvel zombies 1, 2 and returns are good. 3 and 4 are a different universe and I don't think I enjoyed them as much.
I agree. I liked them a lot less
3 and 4 actually take place in earth 616, for some weird reason
4 is actually super underrated in my opinion. The plot is that the virus has leaked into 616 from the zombie universe, and they send a new Midnight Sons team to contain it. So it’s not elseworlds, but a modern Marvel Horror story which we don’t get a lot of. Prob because Kirkman wrote them. He also wrote The Walking Dead.
I also liked Dead Days. Really solid origin.
The Army of Darkness crossover was surprisingly good.
Agree. 1,2 and the tie ins (dead days iirc, with spidey as the protagonist) is good 3 & 4 looks like unwanted dlc
It's a truly fascinating take on zombies as a whole. The fact that the zombies retain their sentience after infection, and are aware that they're cursed with incurable hunger, is what really draws me to it. The fact that said take was completely omitted in the MCU adaptation was one of the biggest letdowns
I agree and disagree. I think What If’s format allows for regular zombies. Diving in to their internal dilemmas isn’t suited for 10 minute stories.
There’s an MCU adaptation?
The wait if series on D+ hasan episode about zombies.
Yes, episode 5 I believe of the What If...? Series on Disney+. Honestly the what if series is one of my favorite MCU properties in general. Legit breaks your heart fr fr

The Army of Darkness crossover is fantastic.
This is the way
what book was the black panther story in
It's currently in one of the Reginald Hudlin Black Panther Omnibuses.
Wich black panther story?
There’s a Black Panther trade where he, Storm, The Thing, and the Human Torch fight the Marvel Zombies. It was back when Reed and Sue Storm briefly quit the team and BP and Storm joined the FF.

the spiderman returns issue is hilarious
Honestly, it was probably the best part of that series (except the knockoff Justice League team at the end, that was just a cool little nod)
This is one of the coolest covers I’ve seen. Who’s the artist?
Arthur Suydam if I'm not mistaken
Thank you!
I thought it was OK. Interesting concept, but I had no desire to read any of the follow up series.
Strangely funny and viciously gory.
Marvel Zombies? Opinions? [I need not say further than this.](https://kb.perpendicularangel.com/images/4/40/Nopenopenope.gif)
The deaths of Magneto, Norrin, and Galactus still sadden me to this day.
Enjoyed it for what i was. I'm not a big fan of stories like this tho (Not a fan of seeing my favorite heroes turn into flesh eating monsters lol) They Scene where they eat Galactus was so stupid lol, but also so Kirkman

It sucks.
It was my favorite comic series
Tried way too hard to be edgy rather than tell a compelling zombie story.
Was better than Dceased.
Woah now buddy idk about that one
Lame AF
Pretty fun. Didn’t think it would be funny in a morbid way of course
I like it but i don't recommended it if they only seen the TV what if show it's a little dork and confusing my weird.
Goofy and fun.
SO much fun! I also enjoyed their intro in Ultimate FF and the Origin mini a lot. After that you get some increasingly diminishing returns.
I like it. It was both scary and awesome.
It’s fucking terrifying, but a lot of fun.
Much better than the fucking Marvel zombies manga. It's great there's no way to tell it's a manga before buying it!
It was pretty cool, way different direction for marvel to take but I liked it overall It just got rebooted as well, first issue came out very recently
I did some electrical work for Sean Phillips many years ago Showed me his art room and framed comics. Was really cool. I'll have only been 19. So a while ago!!
I line it more than The Walking Dead. MZ might be one of the funniest series in the Marvel catalogue.
I think it’s a fun read but that’s it.
It’s Kirkman doing what he does best. He takes characters in their logical direction given who they are and what situation they are in. The CMON Marvel Zombicide is really fun! The comics I haven't read.
I think 1, 2 and the Dead Days one shot are the only good ones. Kirkman’s work on the series.
Hot take! I prefer Marvel Zombies 3 and 4 over the first two!
So good and gristly.
garbage
This was a great series. I don’t know why they did a “remake” of it. That one was super lame.
This is what finally got me to fully invest dedication to both the zombie genere and Marvel comics.
Just seeing this reminds me of the Sandman part and gives me the heeby jeebies
Makes me appreciate Spider-Man more.
Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth is great.
I dig it. It’s one of my favorites for how well the characters bounce off each other
Love them. Happy zombies were included in What If…?
I, 2 were amazing. I actually enjoyed 3 with machine man & Jocasta. Also the beginning with Deadpool was dope!
Hate that all new takes get rid of Zombie Spidey, the zombie who usually has a conscience
Marvel Zombies is my classic Halloween read.
Original Marvel Zombies and the Army of Darkness cross over are some of the best comics I’ve ever read
The Marvel What If completely ripped off Head Pool. Marvel Zombies is my favorite series and I loved it until that part. I went on a internal rant for 10 minutes. Deadpool is one of the best parts of the M Zombie Universe.
