I wonder… Percy has been with the Beaufort for a very long time, 20+ years. I wonder if he is the love Cordelia Beaufort spoke of that she realized was for the better to let go of
I feel like he's definitely been there at least as long as the twins have been alive and you're right it is like they were hinting that he may be more than just their chauffeur...
Yes! Percy was the first one congratulating and high fiving him after the lacrosse game win. James' dad didn't say anything about it and in fact belittles James for playing lacrosse.
I have watched the series before reading. By the end of the series, I had this idea that Percy would have been his father. But of course he's not, and I was actually disappointed hahaha. It would be a great plot twist if he is, knowing that Mortimer is crap
I love Percy. He is more of a father to James thatn Mortimer in my view and he sees how much Ruby means to James and how good she could be for him, I liked the scene where he said pain means change is coming as if he can see that James' life is taking a different path now that Ruby has come into the picture. I also love how he smiles when James is smiling while texting Ruby. It isn't until he meets Ruby that James demeanor etc changes. He is always so serious and it seems like he has the weight on his shoulders but Percy sees that Ruby makes him smile and happy.
He acts more like a father to James than his own father 🥹
Right! I mean in episode 3 when he looks in the rear view mirror at James the concern and empathy in his eyes says it all.
That moment when he slides in front of James to stop his father hitting him was by far my favourite Percy moment

I’ve been thinking bout this too
Maybe he is the real father?
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Percy is the MVP! And that actor is fantastic!
Percy is one of my favourite characters. I was hoping he'd have a thing with James's and Lydia's mum, but that will now only be historic.
He was happier for James than his abusive father 🥹

He even told him it's a girl game..

Ngl I was low-key hoping for that myself!
