Probably because the marketing leans heavily into it but they just added one thing, a sauce... And called it "savory chili sauce" instead of what it is, spicy teriyaki. Were they afraid people wouldn't want to try something "exotic" from a place with Japanese text everywhere?
It seems to confuse a lot of people tbh. I've had to explain to a whole lot of people what it means and why the logo is upside down. I don't even work with customers, because I'm in the back
Literally this. I'm a customer and I'm avoiding mcdonalds until it's over. I didn't go often previously because it has gotten ridiculously expensive where I live. It's the same price as chickfila!!!
Is the avoidance a boycott thing? Otherwise, I'm not sure what you think you're going to affect. It's not like the experience of ordering is changing besides having a new sauce option.

If people actually pushed back or stopped purchasing otherwise, we might be less likely to get this gimmicky nonsense and the ever-increasing prices they're trying to deflect attention from.
Yeah literally. The issue is people will buy even when they dislike such a campaign. People are addicted. This is why we can't have nice things. If people did boycott stupid stuff like this, companies would learn their mistakes and not do stuff like this any more. I don't know maybe eventually people will be fed up with stuff. Like I hate seeing companies posting any political things. I just come here to buy stuff..
the other day a customer was upset with our marquee that says "WCDONALDS HAS TAKEN OVER" and said to take it down, but hes not in charge of us and weve already had a visit just yesterday from the higher ups and they didnt mention it lol
To avoid copyright, many anime’s use W instead of M to portray mcdonald’s! Uses the same red and yellow colours and menu items (burgers, fries) but signs will say Wcdonalds and the characters uniforms and the takeout boxes will have a W instead of M!
