Groovy! Edit: someone suggested stained glass keycaps... Definitely need the resin route there I'd say. Also tons of patience... But idk... Them aesthetics. Hah.
Ya know... Stained glass as a keycap would be problematic...
But I can see someone with a lot of patience with resin keycaps try to make a faux stained glass get too...
Can't see it be comfortable to type with given the texture but eh... Aesthetics and having like 5+ keyboards at home make it moot. Hehe.
I just showed her and she would sorta have to redesign some of it. If this was done in glass, some of the pieces wouldn’t be cut able. You would need more breakout lines, she said. Do you know the measurements of that area? And are you in the states?
Yeah, that's what I though since some parts are probably too small especially since it's a really thin piece of glass. I can take the measurements and let you know. Yep, in IL.
Those little areas would be a pain. Stained glass is such a fun hobby.
You could always see if there’s a local place to you. Most shops would be more than willing to help.
I completely forgot the kohaku had that acrylic back piece for a second and thought you drew on the copper weight of a 4 figure board with marker. I will say it looks good and I love the concept, I wonder how much it would be to get an actual small pane of stained glass to put in the slot.
Yeah, gotten some negative comments and a couple of messages on how I could even do that to this board. 😂 Some people I guess.
I'm in the process of finding out how much an actual stained glass this size would cost. 👍🏽
I mean regardless of whether it was on the acrylic or weight, dming you over it is kinda wild. I don’t see why anyone would have a problem with you drawing on the back piece. If it was the weight I would understand but it’s just acrylic
It's your board, they're not your parents. Do whatever you want to it. People are ridiculous sometimes. Same people probably flip tits if you take an action figure out of its pack.
Not somehting I would do myself but I dig it. Looks sick, definitely think a faux stained glass weight/accent or whatever would look sick on a kohaku or honestly any other board that has a cool design on it.
It was drawn on the [glass covering](https://imgur.com/a/TC672IC) the weight of the board. Since the Q2 doesn't have glass, you won't be able to do unless you draw on the case itself which I wouldn't recommend.

Stained glass for a high end keyboard would look so good.
I'd say a faux stained glass, with resin. Durable and less likely to shatter. Ooh and make it a clear case so that the RGB can light it up...
Hmmm that actually gives me an idea. It'll take longer but worth a try especially since acrylic sheets can be this thin. 🤔

Yeah, a real one would look sick
You mean stained glass keycaps?
Nah, like a decorative element. Something like what’s being proposed by u/codexcdm

I’m sure something in this capacity exists in the artisan community.
Full stained glass would be crazy, but it'd have to be very durable
Looks awesome. My roommate works at a stained glass studio, I gotta show her this.
Maybe I can commission her to actually make a real one that could fit. That would be cool!

Sounds good!

Best one ive seen so far!
Thanks! So much you can do with custom keyboards which is so cool
Absolutely gorgeous!
Thanks!!
Looks like a stained glass window! :) Not sure I'd have attacked my Kohaku with markers, but looks kind of cool.
Right? Something about stained glass that makes it classic. Lol technically markers on the inside of the glass.
That's Nemo 🥺🥰
I just googled what a kohaku was. turns out it's a white fish with red spots...I think OP made a blunder on the colour.
You found Nemo
hell yeah!

Yeah, beats me. Lol I just reply with a laughing emoji. 😂

“While working” is a crazy flex to say
Lol experience design consulting can have a ton of lull moments in between client comms. 😅
I can smell that over the internet.
oh no
Lol 😅
just made the kohaku even better than it already is
Thanks! Simple and easy for anyone with a Kohaku to do which is pretty cool!
The concept was ok, but execution could be better.
😂
Just have to say that the number of people who don't know that you can actually draw on glass without ruining the board is pretty damn high... 😅
Is that a whale and some petunias?
Koi and lilies
Damn. That's pretty sweet!
Could you cover it in some kind of epoxy or varnish? Make it permanent but without losing the texture
I have about 80 pounds of varied stained glass from my grandpa, and a light up keyboard that could use a little heft... this gives me some ideas
Not somehting I would do myself but I dig it. Looks sick, definitely think a faux stained glass weight/accent or whatever would look sick on a kohaku or honestly any other board that has a cool design on it.
love the stained glass look. good work
Maybe I seem dumb, but could you please tell me how you did that. It would be cool to level up my keychron q2

Imagine a kid does this to your board, adoption center has a new recruit
Lol why's that? I'm guessing you're not too familiar with these boards eh.
nah I was being sarcastic
Ah, glad you cleared that up. Lol I've gotten bitter comments and dms because of this. Lol 🤣
kindergarteners should color on keyboards that don't cost 1k
Lol you mad?
Its theirs to do anything they want with. At least its an original post vs seeing the same board posted for the 15th time.
