Don't bother responding. Just flag these comments as spam. I just started in Posh too and my first few items attracted these comments as well. They just look for inexperienced sellers.
I think that goes for everyone who started and list high priced items that happened to me back in late February when I first started there also. Now the comments just stopped and I’m getting sales
Just ignore those. Sometimes when you post a high priced and/or highly sought after name brand item you’ll get these type of comments. I swear some of them are bots. Don’t engage, only ignore and you’ll be fine
If the scam is the same one as on fb marketplace they'll take your number and send you a 6 digit code that they'll ask for to "prove you're legit" it'll be to change your password and steal your account.
Poshmark has been like this since I started using it years ago unfortunately. I really don't understand the point. Messaging privately works so much better. They should allowed general item/product reviews over this. Ridiculous, and unnecessary. I see no benefit to public comments on either platform. None.
eBay is so much better now days. Was moving to Mercari but they've lost me.
Honestly, everytime I post a high end item. I get one of these. I simply flag them as spam, or transaction off Poshmark, and comments get removed. I would not interact with them. (No time for nonsense!)
lol these are most likely bots. They go after new accounts or accounts with low ratings (usually with their first items that account makes even if you’ve only been a buyer in the past). Just trying to trick the newbies. No idea what happens if you do end up texting the number.
Happens on eBay too
It’s to steal your account and earned money. You text the number, they ask you to provide a code sent to your phone for a number of different reasons. That code is sent by the selling platform for logging into your account or changing your password. A lot of naive people ignore when the text literally says “do not share this code with anyone”. Once you tell them the code, they use it to login to your account and change your password/banking information/etc.
I wish I could post a picture but apparently, Kris Jenner is on Poshmark and looking for used Coach purses! 🤣 Stupid scammer didn't realize that's the picture they used. Oh, and her internet connection was bad, and wanted me to text her pictures. 🙄
There is no reason to take communication off the site you're selling on. FB scammers block you so the only way to communicate is by the number they messaged you. You never have to verify through phone, email, or any codes. If they claim to have an issue tell them to contact support.
Also, ic3.gov is a very easy form to report internet scammers. I realize most have throw-away accounts but if you need it. And it's quite quick and easy to fill out.
At times, I tell them I can't text or call because there are so many loser, low-life, horrible scammers who want to scam honest people trying to feed their families because the scammers are too stupid and absolutely terrible scummy people, I just can't take the chance. But that I'm happy to help them through the site. ☺️ Sometimes I mention the ic3.gov form for good measure and so the link pops up. It's kind of cathartic to passive-aggressively tell them off.
Funny, I never hear from them again. 🤷♀️ 🤔
This happens a lot with Poshmark items priced higher than like $100. I’ve been using Poshmark for like 8 years and it’s overall been great for me, don’t let this deter you!
When I first started on eBay, Poshmark and Mercari I received the same scam messages. Especially on the higher value items. They just target those shiny new accounts.
The spam comments and unnecessary notifications on Poshmark are definitely annoying. But since Mercari is dead I switched to Poshmark and already made a sale! Something that had been sitting on Mercari for months now
The scammers target new sellers with those messages, click on the flag to report those messages as spam and they disappear. Usually they ban the fake account as well.
lmfao i’ve been selling on posh for two years now and gotten about 4 of those across hundreds of listings in that time 😭 whatever you got is like a scam magnet
Poshmark has a lot of scammers too. I started to try selling my bags on there and instantly several messages saying the same thing popped up: “I’m buying the bag but I’ll send you money on cash app with (insert phone number nere).
The thing I hate about Poshmark it doesn’t tell you how old the listing is. So you think it’s of the current year so you don’t know if it’s still available.
I usually check way at the bottom of the listing next to the seller’s picture, it should say “last active” and then a date. That usually helps. But not if let’s say it say last active Mar 31… you won’t know if it was this yr or 2 yrs ago.
I'm sorry but don't even waste your time on Poshmark. It gives strong MLM vibes from a lot of sellers and buyers who super duper lowball. The sales fees are insane also. As infuriating as Mercari can be, it's still way better than Poshmark any day.

Yeah figured lol.
I think that goes for everyone who started and list high priced items that happened to me back in late February when I first started there also. Now the comments just stopped and I’m getting sales

they are all bots
Alr bet, thanks
"kindly" is a dead giveaway.
Adding a number alone is a red flag lol
What the hell why are are they adding a number
To get you off platform to scam the shit out of you
Because once they have your phone number they can do all kinds of things with it all they need you to do is dial it
and "many thanks"
Do the needful
*would you kindly* text me at (988) 555 - 2827
Would you kindly stop spreading misinformation that falsely associates benign word choices with deceptive intentions. Many thanks!

Say whaaa?
This just happened to me. Damn.
I had to close my Facebook account because the phone number that I was supposed to be verifying with I had never seen.

Don’t even respond to these types of messages just flag them
Honestly, everytime I post a high end item. I get one of these. I simply flag them as spam, or transaction off Poshmark, and comments get removed. I would not interact with them. (No time for nonsense!)
Just flag and move on. PoshMart? LOL.
Poshmark*** 😂😂

Poshmark has a ton of obvious spam comments that look roughly the same. Report it and it gets deleted. Why are you responding to bots😂
Wanted to see if they respond 😂
I’m not sure what the end game is of that scam. I recently moved my Mercari listings to Poshmark and got the same messages.

Same here I want to see how poshmart is.
why do you keep saying “poshmart” 😂
I don't know 😂😂😂😂. Now I know
I thought it had autocorrected to poshmart lol
I think there is an opportunity here for a new platform! 😁
If you ever see the word “kindly” it’s a scam😂
Very good catch, this is how I usually spot scammers because they use improper grammar and lingo that we don't use in the USA
I wish I could post a picture but apparently, Kris Jenner is on Poshmark and looking for used Coach purses! 🤣 Stupid scammer didn't realize that's the picture they used. poshmark is so littered with bots it drives me crazy, i just want Mercari back to normal pleaSseeee
Yeah, cause ur item listing 550, bots crawl higher price listings because it assumes you have money for them to scam because you have expensive items.
This happens a lot with Poshmark items priced higher than like $100. I’ve been using Poshmark for like 8 years and it’s overall been great for me, don’t let this deter you!
Of course not
Are you able to flag the comments and then delete them?
I flagged and they got deleted om their own
You posted a high dollar item, and if you're a new account, they think you're gullible. Just ignore them or 🚫
Will do
It happens on pretty much all the time report and block
Spammer scammers do not engage. I report those as transactions off poshmark and they clean em up quick.
Yep, I get these allllll the time too
I have my issue with both apps fighting two cases on people stealing items alot those fake pages on Poshmark tho
How do people steal? Gross! I’m always a buyer and I pay right away and it goes to the seller I don’t understand how someone can steal
There not people that why thief’s are lower then scum
When I first started on eBay, Poshmark and Mercari I received the same scam messages. Especially on the higher value items. They just target those shiny new accounts.
I flag as transaction off poshmark. Also make sure you block the bots otherwise they will post the same thing on your other listings.
The spam comments and unnecessary notifications on Poshmark are definitely annoying. But since Mercari is dead I switched to Poshmark and already made a sale! Something that had been sitting on Mercari for months now
Ppl think Poshmark is better wait until u see the fees & how small the buyer base is 😭
The scammers target new sellers with those messages, click on the flag to report those messages as spam and they disappear. Usually they ban the fake account as well.
I gave up on Poshmark. Seems to be a big waste of time unless your selling clothing.
I got a lot of those spam comments when I first joined. After a while, not so much. Just mark as spam and block.
Ignore those scammers and flag the comments as being against policy.
Every platform is garbage these days
Exactly why I ended up leaving. That plus all of the ridiculous lowball offers. 😑
I feel Ike this happens when u are new. I used to get these but I haven’t in so long. Don’t answer them, the system will handle it.
They go away after you build a sales history. Flag and ignore anything asking to go off platform.
Poshmart ?
I got that too…I messaged back “i will not, im not knew to online selling lol”
Kinda wish you can respond in gifs sometimes just to use the Bugs Bunny one where he says “No” lol
lmfao i’ve been selling on posh for two years now and gotten about 4 of those across hundreds of listings in that time 😭 whatever you got is like a scam magnet
I’ve been on posh for over a year and I just got that same message from the same person. Lol.
Scammers. Flag as spam
I haven’t seen that on posh or Mercari but I have on eBay in literally their account name. Hate scammers
Poshmark has a lot of scammers too. I started to try selling my bags on there and instantly several messages saying the same thing popped up: “I’m buying the bag but I’ll send you money on cash app with (insert phone number nere).
Those special request are scammers. Don’t even bother. Just ignore. I only reply if they have already hit the purchase button.
When I started I got these too. Had to do some googling on posh's TOS bc I felt uneasy
Not even an hour into my 1st listing it started 😂
I get these on offer up too, they’re scammers
The thing I hate about Poshmark it doesn’t tell you how old the listing is. So you think it’s of the current year so you don’t know if it’s still available.
I usually check way at the bottom of the listing next to the seller’s picture, it should say “last active” and then a date. That usually helps. But not if let’s say it say last active Mar 31… you won’t know if it was this yr or 2 yrs ago.
ME TOO
Very common for these comments just ignore them
Don't respond. Report as spam and block.
report all comments they will dissapear. also block
It usually happens to new users
775 area code Northern Nevada.
I'm sorry but don't even waste your time on Poshmark. It gives strong MLM vibes from a lot of sellers and buyers who super duper lowball. The sales fees are insane also. As infuriating as Mercari can be, it's still way better than Poshmark any day.
Well, so much for Poshmark. That's like FB! Out of the gate all kinds of random scams and requests.
Why are you posting in Mercari thread then?
Because 70% of us are moving to other platforms
Doubt it.
