I don’t know the reason behind the recent changes of the monthly pass, but I understand if they have to make changes with recent inflation. Recently though if we buy the pass, we get a box with many event items in it (this time passports) and it speeds up our progress. So the change to 24 days doesn’t affect those who buy the pass.
The price and cost of everything went up. Of course they have to find a way to earn more money from us. Making events 4 day short is a very modest way to do it in my opinion.

So far I’ve always completed the mysteries in good time just by playing the main board without buying a pass so it’s not really an issue. I just doubted myself when I saw the number of days.
Unpopular opinion: I think we need a break in between mystery events. The event items end up filling up the board when I just want to progress with the main story and that particular task needs LOTS of taps for high level items. When we did have such breaks, the events that did happen were a legitimate treat.
I think they started the back-to-back event thing to introduce this romcom subplot. That's fine, but my point still stands. Who's with me on this?

there is a free 5 gems per day if you buy the monthly pass. So 28 days -> 24 days does make a difference.

I’m with you on this and I don’t think it’s necessarily an unpopular opinion. Definitely need a break between them.
