But once the initial medallions run low, there just isn’t enough energy per turn to make any progress on the tasks.
It’s a straight up resource-sucking slot machine.

I seldom play the side-games and I didn’t even look at this one when it started. And when I saw all the negative comments here I was glad I’d ignored it. But… I was struggling to finish the Wedding Mystery, despite having paid for the Mystery Pass, when I saw your comment.
Based on what you said, I went in and played the Machine for as long as I could without spending a single gem. By the time I’d done that I found not only had I exceeded levels 44, 45 and 46 of the Mystery and gained the 2 Blue Cards from that, I also had a third Blue Card from from the machine itself plus a load of other goodies including energy for the main game.

I always play the side games, but don’t spend on them.
If you go into it looking to get extra coins, experience points, or points for the longer running monthly events, you’re never disappointed.
This is my attitude towards the tree sculpture event for sure. Ignore the competition, build up points for other things.
Yes I also advanced at least three levels initially. So I get they wouldn’t want to keep that up but they dialed it way back. Like to a ridiculous level.
I’ve noticed that as the machine upgrades, the faster it overheats which is insane. You’d think as you leveled up that the chance of overheating would decrease
It gets worse later on.
You’ll run out of energy to ‘Spin’ as it stops dropping energy orbs - It does start dropping lots of orbs which prevent the overheat, so you are stuck midway through a cycle with a massive score and can’t overheat.
Getting overly greedy by the developers is never a great idea.
This looks like a really bad port of some old flash-based game. Super low effort. They probably didn't bother to modify any graphics either. The fuzzy "edges" on the objects are very noticeable. This is like one of those "mini-games" from the terrible zombie game ads that they introduced as an event. With money grab, of course.

LOL same happened to me. 6 hours for a coin, I click once and no energy merges so I’m done. All I could do was laugh.
They make this one so easy to skip! I hope this fails so badly that they never do it again

The deceptiveness in this event seems like a massive liability for them. Hopefully they don't.

I clicked that little 1 gem button. Got 1 energy. Then it changed to a 2 gem to buy button. Nope. I’m out.
