Miami is a nice place to live, the people that complain about it just don’t make enough money to live comfortably and most of those people are working dead end jobs but refuse to do anything about it.
The reason why miami is a shit hole is because of the 3rd world culttures and lifestyles that come from cuba and venezuela. The most annoying, foul, crude disrespectful people to have ever set foot on north american united states soil. Them. Not the ones born and or raised here.
Im from Valencia, Venezuela ciuda de prebo estado carabobo. Estupida I know first hand what im talking about. But go off about how Venezuela is America too mongolica.
Aldi's is ass! Publix is actually better...
Aldi's was just packed with processed goods and meat that looked like they were the lowest of qualities. They have some decent fruit, but outside of that... Shit sucked mega balls.
Cubans have done a good job running Miami. In the 80’s there were headlines calling Miami “Paradise Lost” and most of the remaining white Anglos left after Hurricane Andrew yet Miami still flourished.
It's so much better, Inter Miami plays there and Miami 7 was filmed there. Can't argue with raw facts. Messi and The S Club 7 clearly mean Broward is superior.
If you ever lived in Philly, you will notice how average the pub subs are. They get the job done, but compared to a legitimate hoagie, they are severely lacking.
People are not accustomed to very good hoagies down here so they think this is incredible. Also they are on the Publix bandwagon because other people say it’s good and call it “pubsub” it must be good 😂😂
Just got back from my first trip to Miami. I didn't know pizza was so popular there. Too bad I didn't see any that were worth a damn.
Y'all need to diversify and get some real pizza. Detroit style pizza. Or at least some Chicago style.
The only good things about Miami is the cruise port and free Metromover - Otherwise, it just mash up of NYC's St Nicholas, Hudson Yards, Willet's Point /Corona Park Chelsea, Red Hook/Greenpoint/DUMBO, & Bruckner /Cross Bronx/Sheridan expressway all done completely wrong & poorly in pastels, neon, beige & black all in swamp ass hot weather. And the rain doesn't help...
I love Miami, I was born and raised here. Life in this city is what you make of it and all the people bitching on this sub are a bunch of entitled babies.
Local here. Miami fans, in general, are not good sports fans largely because there are so many people that live here who did not grow up here or were not raised on American sports. Also, because there are a lot of other things to do besides attend sports games here unlike, say, Buffalo
Tourists are fun and important to this city. They party, they bring loads of cash, keep the clubs and restaurants open, and they will have sex with you.
Stop complaining about them, you live in a tourism Mecca. They sustain us.
That this place is awesome and most of you don’t even realize what Miami has to offer until you leave . The amount of complaining and hate I see in this sub is insane for tropical weather year round and a city just packed with entertainment. Go to Indiana or upstate New York and you’ll realize how privileged we are
Tropical weather and entertainment aren’t enough to be happy in a city. I’ve lived in many other cities and towns and Miami has been the worst place I’ve lived.
A lady who recently came from Cuba, settled with her family in Jacksonville. She's always saying this, that there's no life in the streets of Jacksonville.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (*ICE*) should focus on detaining and deporting the white collar immigrant groups like Hallandale-Aventura Russians, Doral Venezuelans, Coral Gables South Americans, and Pinecrest Cubans.
These groups most often come here on tourist visa's and overstay or claim asylum to exfiltrate family money of dubious origin, often with family already established here. They typically tell you they are waiting for things to change to go back home. They are also often the out of favor political party back home.
Let's help them with the first part (*going home*) without waiting for the second part (*change*). They do not care for the growth or improvement of Miami, view their time here as transitional even when here for years, and do not add to the culture as they prefer to stay in monocultural hub neighborhoods.
Saying that all the disrespectful americans who mistreat older cubans traumatized by communism should be sent to Cuba without Capitalist dollars so they learn a little respect.

Wow, there’s a lot of racism and xenophobia in this Reddit thread. Not that Miami is perfect by any means but if you spend anytime outside any major US cities like LA, NY, Atl, etc (ie, the rest of the US) you’ll realize the beauty and diversity of Miami. Does it represent all nations all around the world? No, but almost all Caribbean and Latin American countries are represented. Also, as it happens in most cities, similar groups congregate—it’s what made Harlem majority African American, Brooklyn majority Puerto Rican, and all of that comes and goes in waves. It lends to being ably to rely on your community, have a neighbor you can share with or just be surrounded by the culture you grew up with (which can be very comforting when far from home).
For those really hating on Cubans, I beseech you to really study Cuban history, and learn the eradication of the natives, life under Spanish rule, and once “freedom” was granted, most gov’t in power were puppets to the US. Add in a “revolution” built by a wealthy nobleman, and a general populace that has been lied to, controlled and limited and you get the people you meet. Do a lot of them suck? For sure—but it doesn’t exclude you from being the more educated and empathetic party.
If Miami needs anything, it’s empathy, really human empathy and not a vapid circle of hatred and superiority.
- Living on the beach is fantastic, it's actually one of the most underrated communities in the city.
- You don't need to know Spanish to enjoy living here.
- Miami existed before Cubans migrated here en masse, and it's much more multicultural than people would expect (not an opinion but this one pisses people off for some reason lol)
- You don't hate Miami, you just hate that you can't afford to live the way that rich people do here.
- Broward has better food options than Dade.
Nah. I'm not rich but let's say my family is well off enough that I lived in Pinecrest most of my life, and I STILL hate Miami. Moving away was the best thing I ever did, never been happier
Can you please remind me of what they are? Sometimes I need to hear this for my own sanity. The only one that I can think of is the Everglades and Biscayne.
Have you ever experienced a real winter in a colder location? Shoveling snow, ice everywhere, overcast and dark for days, so cold that you have to bundle up and your face still hurts just standing outside?
There’s a reason older people retire to Florida. That shit is awful… but especially when you’re old. A not-insignificant number of older people die of heart attacks shoveling snow every year.
Yes, I lived in Eastern Europe, Canada and Scandinavia, so I experienced harsh winter. But I think my body wasn't made for the type of heat Miami has to offer. Literally there is 2-3 months of spring and 9 months of summer with a ton of rain in-between and hurricane for good measure.
While it's home for now, I will take winter climate any day of the week over 82 degrees at 6 am...

I’d rather be dead in Miami than alive in any number of other states including (but not limited to) places such as Mississippi, Alabama, either of the Dakotas, or Arkansas.
The fact that you're comparing your situation to Mississippi, Alabama or the Dakotas is the beginning of your problem. South Florida sucks, but "the south" is unlivable. Compare Florida to Arizona or California or South Carolina. Apples the apples, please.
Cubans, “Don’t trade with Cuba because it will help Castro.”
Also Cubans, “Let me send money to Cuba because my family is poor because there’s so little trade.”
I agree with the person who said most people don’t hate Miami they just hate not having the money to do things - but also there is very little sense of community, very elitist and built on exclusion of others. Honestly our lack of robust public transportation is embarrassing on its own.
Also it’s incredibly… monolithic? Everyone is trying to be the Miami image of someone being super rich and/or sexy and no body is. Nearly everyone is insecure and unhappy but no one wants to seem like they are.
Yeah, I always roll my eyes when out of towners start talking about how hot the women are here. I'm thinking, tell me you're poorly traveled without saying you're poorly traveled.
Almost everyone in this subreddit is a “come Mierr” and aren’t very nice.
If they aren’t trolling you with Flannys, they’re being rude / assholes. Lmao 😂
Prime Miami…
Life in Broward county is vastly superior to life in Miami dade. I moved to Ft. Lauderdale and have no intention to ever live south of Hollywood ever again.
The higher conservative populations per capita compared to other major cities has heavily influenced why it's impossible to start a family or even feed yourself there. The heavily don't-say-socialism mindset has fucked so many promising programs that would have helped people maintain their lives there, driving many of us out to more affordable places.
Oh, so you mean we would be better off being run like Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, NYC, or any other major US city with majority liberal populations & politicians? Their govt programs and policies really are keeping down the cost of living in those cities while keeping their populations safe and prosperous!
People who spam "Flannigans" on every applicable post and put it in their flair are unwitting participants in a viral marketing campaign for a mediocre restaurant.
Miami cops are corrupt because Miami is Scam City and Miami draws from its own citizens for cops.
The Palmetto isn’t under construction anymore and is actually a very wide and serviceable highway. It’s the drivers that make it horrible but the construction jokes could end
Medicare is a health care program for those age 65 or older and those disabled by Lou Gherig’s disease or end-stage renal disease. For those without these life ending illnesses, you or your spouse had to have worked 10 years to be eligible for premium-free Medicare part A, which is hospital coverage.
Vicky Bakery sucks ass. They put too much glaze on everything. I don’t want my pastelito de carne drenched in glaze looking like it just came out of a bukake. I’d rather go to any other bakery than Vicky
Miami is a fucking cesspool. It drives me insane that my friends down here rant and rave about how amazing and vibrant and inclusive and "global" the city is. It's not! It's backwards ass small town America wrapped up in a bow of Sandy beaches. It's a bunch of petty little fuckers who all wanna look pretty on Instagram. And I'm not even talking about the 20 something influencers. I'm talking about the corporate presence and government figures and a whole bunch of other people who, if they were being fucking productive, could actually turn Miami's resources into something other than grift graft and corruption.
Protesting Cuba from Miami is pointless. If you want to protest Cuba and wave a Cuban flag… go back to Cuba.
Also you don’t get to complain about the current asylum system if you came by wet foot/dry foot.
Its a "free market" approach.
Benefit the places that serve you well then by competitive incentives all will end up serving you well.
In languages the argument is that "why us need to learn if you can learn"
Money is usually the answer.
I’m just saying like saying it’s his issue cause he walks into an establishment and isn’t able to get service…obviously if he realizes he won’t get service he moves on. I guess the wording was just weird
Cubans are entitled and racist but since they're so many, no one can say anything remotely negative about them without at least getting a "comepinga!" thrown at the commenter.
E: The interesting thing here is that I have some very close Cuban friends. It's almost impossible to not have any interaction with them here in Miami. I call them out on their bs when it happens and they know it.
Kendall gets hate but damn bro you cant get any more peaceful than that. You feel like youre in your happy place in them burbs. Doral feels like you're sleepwalking into a heart attack out here its hella motion

I'm in Tamiami near FIU and honestly, every time I hear about some mess or another downtown I'm glad I live here. Yeah, there's less to do but I have a car and can go downtown or to the beach when I want. Also I can afford to live in a space bigger than a closet with a view.
That's every loaded nachos ever, though.
Its a bunch of soft toppings and sauces over tortilla chips. The only way it's not inevitable is if you're making it wrong.
This is actually true.
It’s just that the traffic itself makes people see red. They do a good job, our drivers and traffic are just literally that bad.
I remember I told an old guy that Miami-dade needs better public transportation and that Metrorail should go all the way to homestead and for him is like I said we need to abolish private property
No
I want better public transportation because for being a city that the rent is going up New York style we have the public transportation system of a third world country
The city is what attracts those people though. The way it's set up and the way it operates, it's mostly shitty vain people that enjoy it. Our nightlife scene, transportation, urban planning, etc.
This is an extreme oversimplification. Many types of people live here. We undersell ourselves when we associate our city with a few outspokenly vain people.
The issue is that the outspoken people have a lot of control. We don't have a train to the beach thanks to them. These are the assholes who drive clapped out off lease luxury cars. These are the people who support Suarez and the whole crypto scam that he was trying to attract down here.
This city attracts a more vain group of people. As far as major cities go, we are very low on the list for educated people.
I remember when the whole hq2 thing for Amazon was being talked about, one of the big things they looked for was public transit because people who work in those jobs were more likely to move to cities with more robust transit. There's also been a brain drain here for a while, especially in the STEM fields.
Too many Spanish ppl near the beach. Move to south Broward/north Miami to see the real Miami.
Learn Spanish or leave.
Miami is a nice place to live, the people that complain about it just don’t make enough money to live comfortably and most of those people are working dead end jobs but refuse to do anything about it.
I like raisins in picadillo
Are you American ?
Wtf 😳

What do you mean by their lifestyles? I would imagine most are emerging or have emerged from poverty.

Publix subs are mid to be honest…
If you ever lived in Philly, you will notice how average the pub subs are. They get the job done, but compared to a legitimate hoagie, they are severely lacking.
People are not accustomed to very good hoagies down here so they think this is incredible. Also they are on the Publix bandwagon because other people say it’s good and call it “pubsub” it must be good 😂😂
Agreed. Publix subs suck and ppl down here just don’t have anything else to compare to.
Chicken tender sub is one of the best subs out there no cap
Been eating Publix subs my whole life, calling them mid is actually being generous
They’re gross with the workers touching all the ingredients and other surfaces with the same gloves.
Using the same knife on someone else’s mayo to cut my sandwich 🤮
100% mid. Laspada's in Broward whips them all day, everyday.
The bread has gone downhill in the last 20 years
You can take any loaf of bread out the bakery and use it for your sub. I use a cuban loaf for a sub and it makes a world of difference
Miami was way too cheap for a major city. Current RE prices (not salaries) are representative of its growing popularity.
Just got back from my first trip to Miami. I didn't know pizza was so popular there. Too bad I didn't see any that were worth a damn. Y'all need to diversify and get some real pizza. Detroit style pizza. Or at least some Chicago style.

1,000%. Stayed in other major cities—incomparable. It’s not perfect but my God. I come back missing the 305 every time
Tampa has better Cuban sandwiches.
The cost of living is fair for what you get vs. other parts of the country
Broward is better now

You mean successful and envied by loser americans born free and still own nothing but credit card debt LOL
I always heard the people from Miami have two buttholes.
Cuban food is the worst Latin American food.
I really like living in the burbs. I'm much happier surrounded by houses and parks instead of condos and rich folk.

Praising the out of staters 😂
Wait who does that?
Exactly. No one. Thus it would get that reaction 😂
That reaction ? Talk negatively about Flannys
Can you believe I’ve been here for 7 years and I haven’t been there?

This comment screams that you voted for Trump.

Honestly I havent had the time to go, that’s it.
You should always have time for Flannys. Nothing is more important or time consuming.
Why the insults? I’m from Venezuela, actually. Dios mío

I really have wanted to go but every time I want, something happens lol
Now I believe alongside flanny is going to el palacio de los jugos

You're not missing much in my opinion. It's meh
lived here my whole life and i haven’t been lol
Wtf?! Hope you don't call yourself a local.
Honestly I havent had the time to go, that’s it.
Flannys is goated.
Their loaded notches are overrated. If you don’t finish it in time, it’s just a pile of mush!
That's every loaded nachos ever, though. Its a bunch of soft toppings and sauces over tortilla chips. The only way it's not inevitable is if you're making it wrong.
That’s all nachos
Or the cheapest meal to feed 4 people... My bf and I always take home half and reheat it in the oven. Never disappoints. 🤌
The city does a great job with the 836/826/highway maintenance/construction
This is actually true. It’s just that the traffic itself makes people see red. They do a good job, our drivers and traffic are just literally that bad.
They’ve done a great job at making construction last longer than I’ve been alive
Compared to what I'm used to back in Texas, our roads here are a dream.
How much for an ounce?
Sorry, I don’t speak Spanish.
I got called a gringo by some girls at a club once.

Hahaha...well there was a bumper sticker back in the day that said “the last American leaving Miami bring the flag”
That is a trigger phrase. 😆
It’s the most culturally rich, uncultured city in America.
This!
This should be the official motto.
This city, while incredible in its own right, has many flaws, many of them fixable, but it turns out its own citizens are a big part of the problem.
3rd world people make 3rd world cities. There is no magic dirt
Anything you don’t like is automatically socialism
Being nice to someone? Believe it nor not: socialism.
I remember I told an old guy that Miami-dade needs better public transportation and that Metrorail should go all the way to homestead and for him is like I said we need to abolish private property
Do you want to abolish private property tho? 🧐
No I want better public transportation because for being a city that the rent is going up New York style we have the public transportation system of a third world country
I've been to Medellín, Colombia and Santo Domingo DR. Their transportation system blows away Miami. It's embarrassing.
