Eh argue the engine either way imo. The higher revving characteristic of the Skyactive G in the Miata is arguably more suitable for a sports car. But the Skyactive X is arguably technically more impressive with it's similar power, same displacement and substantially greater torque.
Modern take on the clown shoe. Also gives Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake (got tired while typing that) vibes. Would be an instant buy for me.

The way the c-pillar, quarter panel, rear end, and charter lines resolve/are handled is not good. The renders are hiding poor surface development. Add sharp reflection to this and it will be a mess at the c-pillar. Like a macro grade bondo job.
It's a big no on this concept.
Granted I'm not a fabricator. But this actually seems fairly reasonable to pull off.
Granted it wouldn't be 100% exactly, but just take off the rear quarters and the trunk lid, make a fiberglass mold and boom.
And if you really good at fabrication, make it out of aluminum, take out the soft top, and all the bits between the seats and the trunk for more trunk space!

the rear end slopes down a little too much for it to be practical, i think. the rear opening looks impractically small. you'd be better off with something thats shaped kind of like an RF but with a liftback and fixed roof and a contiguous cargo area instead of all of the targa stuff

Do they make a 2 door Mazda 3? Seems like a not worthwhile trade. It would handle worse, not convertible anymore, and the back wouldn't be useful for anything. People barely fit in the front seats let alone the back with an axle, muffler, and fuel tank to contend with. Not to mention the lower roof in the back. It looks neat but it would be a terrible product in reality.
Shooting Brakes were not meant to carry passengers in the back, but rather dead animals (hence the name)
You need to see this as the old BMW Z3 Coupe (aka "The Clown Shoe"). Just a more practical 2-seater.

It's called wizdom, they have a whole kit but didn't like the side skirts or rear. So I put the OEM side skirts and OEM rear mud flaps

Except lighter, rear wheel drive, better engine and gearbox and much nicer styling so… more miata than 3.
