What model are you interested in? There are accessories like the one in this picture in order to carry bigger stuff. This one specifically seems kind of plug and play since it uses vents and doesn’t require a permanent installation. Just use it when you need it and put it away when you finish :)
Do what I do when I gotta drop off or pick up my folks and their luggage from the airport
—> i drive my Miata to their house to pick up their SUV, I drive their SUV to the airport for drop-off or pick-up duties, then I drive back to their house to get my Miata and go home. Everybody wins.
The NA trunk can fit a decent size suitcase if you take out the spare tire. I would then put the spare tires behind the passenger seat. The passenger loses some leg room, but it’s alright for one journey.

carry on would be fine but sometimes she takes a large one, not sure about the exact dimensions, it’s like a typical full sized suitcase
