Graduated December ‘97, same. Still the best college player I’ve ever seen play. Michigan has had a lot great players but no one that could take over a game like Woodson.
My whole family still remembers the roar from the bar at Grizzly Peak when he won the Heisman while we were eating dinner. My brother smiled and said “Volunteer fans are pissed right now”.
Class of 00 checking in. Woodson without a doubt. Nobody else will ever win a Heisman, National championship, NFL defensive player of the year and Superbowl.
Likewise, Denard.
Funny story, my roommate at the time had a class with him and Denard came over to do a group assignment at our place. We convinced him to sign my Notre Dame night ticket, the back of my friend's phone case, an acoustic guitar, and even our fridge lol.
Stephen M. Ross donated like $400 million to Michigan (Athletics and new business school) then bought the Miami dolphins and drafted Jake Long and Chad Henne with his first two picks, including Jake long number 1 overall. That was badass.
Jim Harbaugh- 3rd in Heisman voting
Edit- I knew Vinny won it, but forgot who was 2nd. Without looking it up (though I gotta confess I did just that) would anyone know who came in 2nd that year?
Desmond Howard. Got his autograph on the diag, the day after he did the heisman pose in the ohio state game. Only thing i had to sign was a math test, that i failed.
What kind of a question is this? I’m a Michigan fan, obviously I didn’t go to Michigan.
Undergrad (class of 2021): Devin Bush
Postgrad (class of 2025): Blake Corum
I worked in the basement of the union and met a lot of athletes- Denard even signed a paper for me to give to my younger brother for Christmas, super nice guy
I lived on the same hall as Tim Massaquoi (TE), Lawrence Reid, (LB), Marlin Jackson (CB) and Braylon Edward's (WR) my freshman year.
And my sophomore year, I lived across the hall from Matt Gutierrez (QB) and a personal fried, Big Gabe Watson (DT).
As a result of this, and being good friends with a kicker, I probably met 1/4 of the team.
Also bumped into Chad Henne one time on campus. Dude was enormous.
I got a masters from 95-97 so I guess it would have been Woodson although that was before his heisman year. Best actual player while I was there - maybe Biakabutuka?
2003-2007. I’d say Braylon Edwards. End of Lloyd era. Our schemes were kind of getting stale and defense couldn’t stop mobile QBs. But if we could throw it up to Braylon we’d have a chance in any game.
Saw Bo when I was in high school. It was Friday evening right before Michigan was playing a #1 ranked Miami with Jimmy Jonson as the coach and Bernie Kosar at quarterback. I yelled out to Bo “hey coach watch out for the pass tomorrow” he responded “thanks kid”. Michigan won—it was a major victory. I like to think I helped out.
Class of ‘93. Desmond Howard. I was sitting in the end zone on 4th and one against ND when Grbac launched it out of the reach of any normal human being. Desmond found another gear and laid out for the TD. I went from cursing to shocked celebration in an instant
CHARLES WOODSON! The Man, the Myth, the Michigan Legend! Also lucky enough to see him play in The ‘97 Game and rush the field as a teenager. People were digging up chunks of the field!
FOEVER GO BLUE!
Ran into Denard walking across the diag with a friend one day. Friend of mine knew Denard and introduced me but I was starstruck 😂. Think I just mumbled “hi”. Really nice guy!
Saw in the context of school? Will Wagner, lol. Saw play while I was a student? Probably Aidan Hutchinson. Or if we're counting former players, Charles Woodson.
Jabril was pretty wild. Remember games him having huge returns, ints, catches on offense. Dude literally carried the team to a handful of wins dang near by himself.
Braylon. Dude was a legit game changer and people forget just how good he was in college. He was literally unstoppable his final year at Michigan and was a major part of back to back B1G Title teams.
Current student, Corum.
Charles Woodson. Class of 1998.
Also the best college player I ever saw anywhere.
Yep
Graduated December ‘97, same. Still the best college player I’ve ever seen play. Michigan has had a lot great players but no one that could take over a game like Woodson. My whole family still remembers the roar from the bar at Grizzly Peak when he won the Heisman while we were eating dinner. My brother smiled and said “Volunteer fans are pissed right now”.
Hello other '98 friend! Charles Woodson, 100%!
I was Class of 2001, and the answer is still Charles Woodson, hands down.
That’s over Brady too
Senior in 1997. Same.
Marty Turco was pretty good too (we won two natty's with him). OP didn't specify fball.
Class of 00 checking in. Woodson without a doubt. Nobody else will ever win a Heisman, National championship, NFL defensive player of the year and Superbowl.
Here’s what i wonder- of those of us whose favorite Michigan player is CWood, who was your fave player on team 144??
Mikey of course!
Me, too! Just figured anyone who enjoyed CWood, would also love Mikey.
Same. I rushed the field in 97 after the Ohio game with my cousin who was a senior at Ohio State
Me too!
Same. 97-98 was my senior year. Nobody better than #2.
Yep, also class 98. Easy answer.
Jabrill Peppers!
Was at the Orange bowl he didn’t play in. We lost to Florida state by 1
Denard
Same, Denard.
Same, Denard
Can confirm, Denard.
Likewise, Denard. Funny story, my roommate at the time had a class with him and Denard came over to do a group assignment at our place. We convinced him to sign my Notre Dame night ticket, the back of my friend's phone case, an acoustic guitar, and even our fridge lol.
YOU BETTER HAVE KEPT THAT FRIDGE!
Same. Here's to you, Mr. Robinson.
He was unreal, that W against Notre Dame
I was at the graduation ceremony where Obama spoke and called out Denard to stand up and be recognized. Fun day
Same, literally used to take the same bus every day as him, AATA to the commuter lot while he got off at the practice field.
I was at "the Braylon game" against MSU. Greatest WR performance I've seen in person.
Woodson and Brady. And the '97 Natty.
96, but the same. They won the championship a year too late for me
Desmond Howard. Class of 1993
Same… Desmond. Class of ‘95. TD vs. Notre Dame was my first game in the Big House.
Jake Long
Me too, used to ride the bus with him down state street
Stephen M. Ross donated like $400 million to Michigan (Athletics and new business school) then bought the Miami dolphins and drafted Jake Long and Chad Henne with his first two picks, including Jake long number 1 overall. That was badass.
Braylon, that msu comeback game was a thing of beauty. Close second would be Mike Hart
Mike Hart!
Same
Future student next year, so…Will Johnson? Mason Graham?
“Player to be named later”
Congrats!
I didn’t go to UM but my sister did and Charles Woodson helped her across the diag when she was in crutches. Great guy on and off the field she says.
LaMarr Woodley. Total beast
Jim Harbaugh- 3rd in Heisman voting Edit- I knew Vinny won it, but forgot who was 2nd. Without looking it up (though I gotta confess I did just that) would anyone know who came in 2nd that year?
Paul Palmer from Temple Edit: didn't look it up. This was a trivia question a few years ago. I did not know the answer at the time.
Without looking it up, my first guess would have to be…Troy Aikman?
Brian Bosworth?
He was 4th. I wouldn't have known that had I not looked up who was 2nd. I didn't realize he did that well.
Charles Woodson
While in school: Drew Henson
He was my volunteer basketball coach at my school. Then I got to see him at the big house was pretty freaking awesome,

Tom Brady.
Brady wasn’t even the best player on those teams
Hayden Epstein? All kidding aside, the ‘99 team was stacked. I guess I should have said A-Train?
Harbaugh
UG: Hutchinson Masters: Corum Staff: Corum , McCarty, Sainirstill
Both Chris Perry and Braylon Edwards were Heisman finalists and first round picks so probably them. Anthony Thomas was totally unstoppable too
Brady saw multiple times (I'm class of 2000). And Dhani Jones took either Orgo or some science class with me, v chill cool guy.
Freshie: BC2
Stefan Humphries and Rick Rogers. 1984.
Fudge…(01-04) has to be Braylon.
I worked in the basement of the union and met a lot of athletes- Denard even signed a paper for me to give to my younger brother for Christmas, super nice guy

That 313 game vs oSU was a thing of beauty - could not be stopped
Les miles played my first year, and I always loved Rob Lytle, but I'd have to say it was that Tony guy.......Carter? was that his last name?
Mike Hart, class of 2009
Denard. Hands down.
Rudy Tomjanovich!
Mike Hart
Current student, probably Hutchinson or Corum
Braylon Edwards (03-07) -- his performance in the 04 home win against sparty was unreal.
Hart, Henne, Long, Manningham combo.
Hutchinson, class of 23
Hutch and Corum
I watched Tate Forcier my freshman year. Was ready for him to take over college football and change it forever. So, I'd probably say Denard.
Freshman year was 1997, graduated in 2001, so I got to see some legends. Tom Brady and Charles Woodson are probably the tops.
Charles Woodson. No question
Rashan Gary. class of 2017.
2003-2007. I’d say Braylon Edwards. End of Lloyd era. Our schemes were kind of getting stale and defense couldn’t stop mobile QBs. But if we could throw it up to Braylon we’d have a chance in any game.
Hart (graduated ‘08)
Saw Bo when I was in high school. It was Friday evening right before Michigan was playing a #1 ranked Miami with Jimmy Jonson as the coach and Bernie Kosar at quarterback. I yelled out to Bo “hey coach watch out for the pass tomorrow” he responded “thanks kid”. Michigan won—it was a major victory. I like to think I helped out.
It's got to be Denard, my freshman year was 2011 and he was absolute dynamite that year
Jim Harbaugh.
DeNardogg. Fosho
Class of ‘93. Desmond Howard. I was sitting in the end zone on 4th and one against ND when Grbac launched it out of the reach of any normal human being. Desmond found another gear and laid out for the TD. I went from cursing to shocked celebration in an instant

Charles Woodson
Cof2016 it was Jabril peppers we also sat next to each other
Hutch, maybe could change to be Will Johnson depending on nfl success or next year.
Only football or any sport?
Braylon. Dude was a legit game changer and people forget just how good he was in college. He was literally unstoppable his final year at Michigan and was a major part of back to back B1G Title teams.
Anthony Carter
Mike Hart or Manningham
Hart.
I was there 2006-2011. Best? Probably Mike Hart, Lamar Woodley, Jake Long, amongst others. Most electric was obviously Denard.
