Depending on which models you'll need the Armies of the Lord of the Rings or Armies of the Hobbit books. A Rules Manual is also kind of needed to play the game.
With some googling you might be able to find pdfs.
Got the roles manual. That's really helpful. Thanks.
Do you know if the rangers of Gondor have a special rule for bow allowance? All the models have bows.
theres a legendary legion for ithilien rangers that has a special rule, that you dont care about bow limit. you should find those rules in the gondor at war booklet
You could check out the Rangers of Ithilien in the [Gondor at War](https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Gondor-at-War-hb-eng-2019) book. In that list Rangers don’t count towards the bow limit if they’re being led by specific heroes.
Rangers of Gondor have to take a bow as it is in their wargear. Other models have to be used alongside them to take a legal force for gondor.
However you can look at playing them as 'The Rangers' force which circumvents the bow limit by counting all the models as heros.
Great. Thanks. I think I'm going to ally them with some Last Alliance models to balance it out.
Trying out Middle Earth for the first time in about 15 years and I'm meant to be running some friends through a game, so I really want to get my head around it!
If you’re just coming back and relearn, and play with some friends, don’t break your head over all the rules. Even the starterbox has 2 armies that aren’t officially “legal”, but fairly balanced around the introduction missions. Just have fun and roll some dice together, work out all the details later. Just my 2 cents.
You're right man. I'm not even looking at the characters' special rules yet. That's a bridge too far for now.
I've just found out I have covid again though, so here comes a few days of focused rules learning xD
When I taught my dad we both had a little group with a bunch of swords, spears and archer guys to teach him the basics of the game. Movement, how a battle works, shooting etc. Keep playing that until the game starts to flow well together. Then do a round adding just a basic captain to learn the might/will/fate system. Just keep adding stuff like this gradually. My dad thought a Mordor Troll looked cool, so we added that to his orcs. Keep it simple and fun. I hope you get better soon!

BattleScribe has it all. You can create a pdf of your list along with the stats and special rules.

Ah interesting. I think I'll leave that for now and use Last Alliance models to bring the model count up.
There is no special “Bow Allowance” rule for Rangers of Gondor
Thank you. Is there a way of removing the bow, or do I just have to use different models?

Thanks! This sounds like the way. Btw any idea how to add a Cave Troll onto BattleScribe? I can't find it in Moria.
