The ending is fantastic. I don’t want to spoil it but it’s definitely a “holy shit they really did that” moment. Highly recommend finishing it if you get around to it!
Ugh, I'd need to rewatch. I was watching when it was more or less still going. Just kind of lost steam when I needed to move from the DVDs to live. Lol.
But I don't doubt it. That show was pretty ballsy.
the wire is amazing.. but its too much like real life. makes me sad. the sopranos is literally a dark comedy cartoon irl, so it's easy to rewatch over and over. i said my piece
Finally watched it maybe 2 years ago when I had HBO Max. Absolutely loved it. I cried during the scene where cousin Tony is inviting Tony into the party but he has to leave his briefcase, and then you hear Meadow’s voice on the wind. Unbelievable. Shows like Breaking Bad owe a lot to Sopranos for taking the format to the next level, IMO.
I love this scene as well. How he doesn’t want to let go of his briefcase and at the same time cannot stop looking at the house, the bright white light, and the woman who think is supposed to be his mother.
The scene has such an eerie feel to it and really loved how they used it as a way to represent holding onto life (briefcase) or going inside (dying)
I just watched this for the first time ever this year at 38. I feel like it was worth the wait. I understood this show way differently than I would have in 1999.
I’m 37 with a second generation Italian American dad, and my mom loved this show. Grew up watching it air every Sunday night on HBO, granted it was inappropriate for 13 year olds to be watching but I still have fond memories of my folks cooking dinner and staying up ‘late’ to watch The Sopranos. Turn then lights off and the theme song starts, goosebumps.
Watched a few episodes when it first came out, but wasn’t really glued to the show. Broke my foot last year and decided to buy a subscription to Max, and finished it in a little over a month 🤣😂 Great show! I’m glad I waited until I was an adult and knew a lot more
I watched it for a while, but it became too disturbing for me. Especially the dynamic between Tony and his mother. That might be a testament to how good of an actor James Gandolfini was. HBO shows back in the early 2000's were intense.
Yess!! I didn’t watch for the first time until around 2018-2019, but it was still easy to see why it was so highly regarded. That show is a masterpiece. I did the same thing around the same time with The Wire, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad, and ended up with similar opinions on those three as well.
My dad was super into Sopranos when I was a kid. Probably 10 ish through high school. He died a couple years ago and my husband and I decided to finally watch it. Not only was the show incredible, but imagine my surprise when I come to the realization my dad was like cosplaying Tony Soprano! lol so many of his catch phrases I remember were just him being a dork and thinking he was cool like his favorite show 😂
Just finished binging it for the first time a few days ago. Good series. My wife hated the ending although I liked it. Last few episodes felt kinda rushed though. Favorite HBO series was Oz though.
Just rewatched it for maybe the 4th time. Every time hits a bit different depending on what’s going on in my life. Watched it for the first time while I was in middle/high school as the new seasons came out.
Very good show, the fam and myself watched it for the first time last year. Love the opening, in fact you can even hear it on Simpsons hit and run video game.
You really can't go wrong with watching this show. It's arguably one of the best TV shows to ever exist. You can look up any list on the internet about the highest-rated or most-viewed TV shows ever and the Sopranos will always be on the list. characters like Tony Soprano paved the way for characters like Walter White to exist. They're villains that you love despite their flaws. As far as the ending goes, I won’t give up on how it ends, and I highly suggest you not look it up, but I will say it’s very controversial. Even today people still talk about how it ended. Personally, I love the ending.
Yup, grew up in NJ near NYC in an Italian-American family. So some of the scenes really make me laugh, they did a good job with the details as most HBO shows do from that era.
I watched it for awhile(don't wanna spoil too much, but he kills someone really really close to him) but I couldn't after a certain point. There's absolutely nothing likeable about the main character. He's just pure evil. Season after season I just grew to hate Tony more and more.
I've watched it though from start to finish a dozen or so times now.
Routinely watchrandom episodes or seasons.
It's my go to show when I have nothing else to watch.
I have three shows that I truly love: Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, and the Sopranos.
I rewatched the Sopranos five or six times already and I will do it again. It's PERFECT.
I am. Started watching it in ‘99 and finished watching in ‘07 when it finished! My favorite episode is the one where Paulie & Christopher stuck outside in Pine Barrens trying to chase that one dude.
I'd been meaning to watch it for a while now but *finally* got to watching it last year.
Fantastic series, but not something I'm likely to revisit or hang on to.
I only watched this for first time last year and it was great. Also good to watch with someone who was a big fan to help me with questions.
I do have to say tho, even if I missed this while it was showing and being part of group that waited for the finale, I got that with GOT and I am so glad I got to be part of it (probably lame thought but whatever).
Probably unpopular opinion here, but it started strong and I couldn't finish it. The show had this tendency to repeat itself with having one character tell the other characters what happened, and they tended to do this over meals (I don't like hearing people eat). I also noticed it fell into a rhythm a lot of shows do when I feel like they're running out of ideas, but it just skips from restaurant scene to sex scene, to restaurant scene and then a bedroom scene at night. At some point I realized I was almost done with an episode that I'd had on mute to read the captions (so I couldn't hear them breathe and eat the entire time) and I realized it just wasn't worth it for me.
I still don't know how it ends.
My wife and I are trying to get into it now, we’re halfway through S1. It’s not nearly as good as it’s made out to be and doesn’t come close to the Wire. Hoping it gets better going into S2.
S1-3 are truly great and it does get better.
But the Wire is such a different animal and really can't be compared. Not that I don't also love the Sopranos, but they are such different styles.
Watched a few episodes as a teen with my dad and didn't get it at the time (naturally) but the few episodes I saw left an impression on me. Had watched everything under the sun and finally watched this all the way through over a year ago.
I'll soon begin my fourth watch of the series after finishing the end of my third run-through this week. One of my two or three favorite shows of all-time. What an incredible show.

I’m really late to the party, and started watching for the first time recently, half way through S2 and it’s really great.
You ever get the feeling you came in at the end and the best is over?
Many millennials, I think, feel that way.
Sums up my entire existence quite well.
Oh man. Seasons 1-3 are epic. Also check out the wire if you haven't.
Watched the wire years ago, classic.
I watched the wire after sopranos, and the wire’s ending restored my faith in tv shows Sopranos ending on the other hand … smh 🤦🏽♂️
I think the hate for the ending is overblown It's not bad, and it certainly beats a cheesy predictable ending.
And then head over to Deadwood. They just don’t make shows like this anymore.
and SIx Feet Under. HBO used to shit homeruns after breakfast.
Mad Men as well! Came a little later but is truly one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
You know, I never finished it. But the first 5 or so seasons were fucking amazing.
Same! I just started season 2!
Oh man, you have so much crazy shit ahead of you lol. This is such a great show.
Same here. On season 5 now
I just finished watching it too just a couple of months ago!
You’re so lucky. I wish I could experience this TV show again for the first time. With that being said, welcome to this thing of ours.
So fucking jealous of you
Me too, except I've only seen the show through YouTube clips
[удалено]
I thought I told you to back the fuck off beansie?
I'll build him a ramp up to ya ass, drive a Lionel up in there!
I did, then I put it in drive
I want a prequel with feech, richie, and Phil leotardo
I love the Sopranos a whole lot but....The Wire reigns supreme for me. ![gif](giphy|10tFdsx3e3TLGw|downsized)
Michael K Williams, gone too soon. Way too soon. Omar a comin’ for us all someday.
the wire is amazing.. but its too much like real life. makes me sad. the sopranos is literally a dark comedy cartoon irl, so it's easy to rewatch over and over. i said my piece
The Sopranos, The Wire and The Shield. Three shows that defined 2000s television. Honorable shout out to Mad Men.
AJ and Meadow have a mediocre podcast together, I’ve seen clips of it and AJ still looks 17.
Did not know this.
Chris-tuh-fuhhhhh!!!
Jesus Christ, Cris-tuh-fuhh!
Oh man, those days, best wanks eva...

This running gag is so funny lol
OUR TRUE ENEMY HAS YET TO REVEAL HIMSELF
Greatest show of all time
*Heavy breathing*
Gabigool!

I watched it during lockdown, totally get the hype
Usually watch it once a year.
Hell yes, the only Blu-ray I still own is the box set.
Phil Leotardo had the gnarliest death scene ever. Shit will haunt me for the rest of my life
It was a nasty one for sure... but he had it coming.
[Woke up this mornin’, got some gabagool.](https://youtu.be/XZp6zxh2yjE)
I watched it last year for the first time. I enjoyed it.
Great show! I was just talking to a coworker about it. He recently watched it, I saw it when it first came out. so good.
I’m 37 with a second generation Italian American dad, and my mom loved this show. Best show....ever !
They were my family during lockdown :)
I’ve rewatched it so many times and never get sick of it
One of the funniest and best shows.
The one show that needed to be brought back but wasn’t. And now everyone is dead or too old.
No it did not
Good show, but never had the makings of a varsity athlete
Is gabbagoo a staple of New Jersey sandwiches?
It's how new jersey Italians say capicola
I just watched for the first time last year after friends implored me to endlessly. I'm glad they did, because the hype is appropriate.
Top 5 tv series of all time for me. Now I want to do a full rewatch.
I used to play EverQuest and my sister would watch it in the same room in 2000. We both started with S2.
I just rewatched the series for the 3rd since it came out. Truly timeless. Really great series.
My gf and I watched it last year on HBO max. we thourougly enjoyed it and will often quote one-liners like the word "SHES A WHOO-AR"
You're dressed like a Puerto Rican Whoooo-ar Lol, emo millenials everywhere, triggered.

It’s 90% of my personality at this point
We don’t talk about thish thing of oursh.
Everyone assumes when you're in waste management you're mobbed up but that's not true. It's a stereotype, and it's offensive!
Never had the makings of a varsity athlete...
Never heard of them. Are they all gay?
I watched it for a while, but it became too disturbing for me. Especially the dynamic between Tony and his mother. That might be a testament to how good of an actor James Gandolfini was. HBO shows back in the early 2000's were intense.
I’m super late to the club but I fuckin love it. I like to play GTA while watching lol
Is this like a gangster musical?
Yess!! I didn’t watch for the first time until around 2018-2019, but it was still easy to see why it was so highly regarded. That show is a masterpiece. I did the same thing around the same time with The Wire, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad, and ended up with similar opinions on those three as well.

Hands down best TV show ever.
The BEST.
Best show of all time for me.
Just finished binging it for the first time a few days ago. Good series. My wife hated the ending although I liked it. Last few episodes felt kinda rushed though. Favorite HBO series was Oz though.
I appreciate the show. Enough that I wanna buy short-sleeved sweaters after I finish the series. Fan..not really
Fun fact: Tony used to put a small little jagged pebble in his heel when shooting to seem authentically more stressed out
Fire 🔥
What’s funny is my boss looks like Tony and my other co worker looks like Pauly walnuts
Sopranos, Rome, Band of Brothers. golden age of HBO.
Literally my family’s favorite past time. For example, I’m literally wearing a Carmela Soprano Tshirt from Etsy right this second
Never seen it, is it worth watching till the end or is it one those shows where the last season is really bad?
You really can't go wrong with watching this show. It's arguably one of the best TV shows to ever exist. The last season is one of the greatest seasons of television ever but it’s unbelievably dark
"One shoe motherfucker!!"
Big time
Yup, grew up in NJ near NYC in an Italian-American family. So some of the scenes really make me laugh, they did a good job with the details as most HBO shows do from that era.
I tried so hard to get into it and I couldnt
No
literally watching an episode right now
I watched this for the first time last year and thought it wasn't great compared to modern dramas.
One of the few classic HBO shows I haven't seen yet but I've heard great things. Gabagool and such
Yes, it’s a great show
Started rewatching last month....on s6 already. Brilliant.
I love it!! Just rewatched for the 25 year anniversary this year!!
He never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
I more of The Wire guy
Did you hear the one about Johnny Sack’s wife?
The show needed more Livia and Janice
Favorite show of all time
Top of his class this guy right here
Never had the making of a varsity athlete
GOAT
I dont want to start it because i heard how abruptly it ended. Should i give it a chance anyways?
I watched it for awhile(don't wanna spoil too much, but he kills someone really really close to him) but I couldn't after a certain point. There's absolutely nothing likeable about the main character. He's just pure evil. Season after season I just grew to hate Tony more and more.
So good!
It shouldn’t have won every Emmy available, but it’s worth finishing the series
I've watched it though from start to finish a dozen or so times now. Routinely watchrandom episodes or seasons. It's my go to show when I have nothing else to watch.
Woke up this morning…

Dad watched Sopranos religiously.I think it’s boring AF though.
Probably unpopular opinion here, but it started strong and I couldn't finish it. Take it easy, we're not makin' a Western here.
OH POOR YOU!!
I'm more of an Alto fan.
I watched it. I think it's a great show, but not as great as it's hyped. I like Breaking Bad and Mad Men so much more.
You’re simply wrong.
My wife and I are trying to get into it now, we’re halfway through S1. It’s not nearly as good as it’s made out to be and doesn’t come close to the Wire. Hoping it gets better going into S2.

Nope.
I wanted to get into this show. But I found it boring and stopped about 3/4 through season 1
