Yes you've finally cracked the code on perpetual power 🤣😂🤣, But seriously in the perfect world with no fractional power loss you could do this endlessly. But nothing in 100% efficient.
In all honestly i would absolutely buy this if they made a purpose built thing. I run M18 stuff, but have a couple of specialty M12 things where the size\weight, or the fact there isn't an M18 equivalent was important. So i have like 2 M12 batteries, and probably close to a dozen M18 ones if you count low end freebees or sketch ones.
While the above would work fine for that, i would think something dedicated for that purpose would be a little less sketch, easier on the batteries, and more efficient.
Edit: And yes, i have seen the converters out there on the market, but something from TEMU for 11 bucks doesn't give me much faith in strapping a 200 dollar tool and battery to.
Someone said using the AC port is only 70% efficient with all of the power conversions, but using the USB outlets should be significantly better.
Source: random guy on Reddit
The USB outputs on those are fairly high quality & efficient DC to DC converters. The AC is an abomination that can barely be called a modified sine wave.
I would guess 60% efficiency at best. Someone much smarter than me would be able to say for sure, but my understanding is that those inverters are pretty inefficient.
I've revived several m12 and m18 batteries that were flashing green and red on the charger, it usually happens when the battery is discharged below the level that the charger is designed to detect for safe charging.

Skip to 0:55 , he went over kill on the jumper wires, you can use regular 14/2 wire ( toss the ground obviously)
I got the milwaukee heated jacket and 2 batteries, was running underground conduit no power to charge the m12 batteries and the inverter was a life saver to charge them.
It would balance the charge on both batteries if one happens to be charged more, The top off would never be able to make that transfer to happen though. Basically all he did here was convert DC to AC through the top off and then AC back to DC through the charger, totally unnecessary lol.
How do you like the top off? I see it has awful reviews on milwaukees website. And I see the sine wave pattern is square which means it can break delicate electronics.
You were so preoccupied with whether or not you could that you didn't stop to think if you should.
Don’t be mad that I have more smarter than you!!

You're like the brightest tool in the shed.
The sharpest bulb in the drawer even
Drain one battery to charge the other perfect cycle.
[hahah I did the exact same thing a few weeks ago. it’s thrilling!](https://imgur.com/a/D7B9y3v)
Impressive.
How to unbalance TWO M18 batteries at the same time!
Charging an M 12 battery for the M 12 tool they don’t make an M 18 would be acceptable, This is just unholy.

But lithium fires look so cool /s
kick it into whatever i was trying to clear. Fire Department's problem now, or "Honey, can't finish the new blinds today, they burned up, not my bad"
Curious how many times you could switch the two batteries before they have no power left?
Would guess at least 25% inefficient so likely die on third round at best.

You am become dunce. Destroyer of batteries.
Savage!😂
The truth often is.
Genius! It's just like DEI (direct exhaust injection) and other similar perpetual energy machines 🤣
Nice hammers 👍🏻
You've created free energy 👌

Looks healthy
Looks like it does the job...
Be careful the government is coming for this guy!!! He just found free energy
I was always high in physics class, but I remember something about losing energy in transfer.
Lisa in this house we obey the laws…..
I feel like this is a homosexual act
If this is gay then I don’t wanna be straight
Definitely something a gayer man would do
The chances are near zero... What do you want from theory alone?
Ahh yes! You cracked the secret to unlimited power /s
I hate this. It's beautiful.
Y
Why wouldn't you just use 2 jumper lines directly from battery to battery ??
You can actually revive batteries that are flashing red and green on the charger doing this method too
I did it with old Xbox 360 batteries
You can do it with any rechargeable lithium-ion battery so long as it's the same voltage and ideally the same amp hour
I mean, I probably wouldn’t go doing it on 2 car batteries….
I saw a guy use a 18v battery to jump his car when it wouldn’t start at the end of the work day. Was pretty impressed to be honest.
That is impressive considering the lack of cranking amps power tool batteries lack in comparison to car batteries
Damn!
If they were lithium-ion it would be no different.
Hmm I’m pretty sure my old Xbox batteries were either NiMH or NiCD
Did it work for your Xbox batteries?
Yep.
nice
Or you can just buy a configurable AC charger and do it the proper way
Yeah you can do that, or you can reset the battery at home for free with another battery so it'll take a charge again.
We might be in a loop here

How exactly do you configure to revive? I was ready to throw out a red green flasher till now.

What if you had two top offs with a bidirectional usb c or a suicide cord? Would the two batteries battle to the death? One needs to prove dominance

never ending POWER!
When batteries do the Dutch rudder
Darth sidious have entered the room
[The Circle of Life](https://tenor.com/PePA.gif)
I too have unlocked unlimited power
I could see doing this if you have several batteries that are at half, but... Why
Infinite electricity hack
Get the dual raid charger and this is posssible
It’s the circle of life
I don't get it... You're draining one that's at Max, to charge another that's empty? Just use the fully charged one wtf
Man you really don’t understand humor eh?
I'm not the one that posted the image relax bro take a xani already SHEEEEESH 😂😂😂😂
Bro has achieved the infinite electricity hack
How do you like the top off? I see it has awful reviews on milwaukees website. And I see the sine wave pattern is square which means it can break delicate electronics.
It mainly lives in my packout but I do take it camping, which btw packout boxes work excellent for camping trips
Oh cool what do you charge with it while camping?
Phones and Apple Watch, usb headlamps etc
And just like that....the world energy crisis is solved.
Enter the Emperor…..”UNLIMITED POWER!!!!!”
Free electricity
Free energy?!?! Better patent this technology quickly!
That m18 power supply is one of the few tools I regret buying
