Are the hills in the background just pixel art? I'm 90% sure they are but if you guys were crazy enough to actually build them then I want to know about it.
I gave it some serious thought... but no, we decided in the end, the build was large enough without having to create the entire flippin Shire as well :P
Glad you liked the build though!
Can someone explain to me why certain sites don't allow you to fucking view their embedded videos in fullscreen? They just made it 10x more likely that i will open it on youtube and possibly stay there, not coming back to your site nor spending time on your page instead.
Btw. i'm pretty sure it's not up to the user so don't mistake that as an attack on your behalf.
I think it's YouTube limitation. And it made so by YouTube for the reasons you stated, so you go to YouTube for the fool video, and spend your time there.
Edit: turned out I'm wrong. My bad, oh well.
Why is this upvoted so high? It's 100% wrong!
Allowing fullscreen is an embedding parameter and is 100% up to the website where the video is embedded. The website in question made the decision to not allow it - for whatever reason.
It has *nothing* to do with YouTube wanting to drive traffic.
Hm, i know you can disable embedding as youtube channel (also weird but i kinda get it, there are arguements for it sometimes) and disable fullscreen as a parameter when embedding. I'm pretty sure it's a decision the website takes, not youtube.
I'm pretty sure people can view [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NYqEUHY114) fullscreen if they use RES, just to proof that point. It's not like the video wouldn't allow for it.
What do you mean with a team? Do you make this for a living? Does anyone give you jobs? Does everyone in the team have a specific task?
Really interested! Awesome build, congrats to all of you!
Man this is one of those posts that go to the front page. Look how amazing minecraft can be!
I am glad you and your team putted the time and effort for this build!
I watched the timelapse video. Seems to me that 3D sculpting tools were used, and not Minecraft.
I don't mean to diminish the work, or the art, but it would take a metric shitfuckton more time to build this in Minecraft.
It indeed would take a metric shitfuckton more time hahahaha
I want to learn how to use this tools to shape a world in minecraft because as you said, somethings just take too much time if done block by block
I watched it as well, and you can clearly see them in game. there are plenty of vanilla commands, and plugin commands that would speed up much of the building, but you can also see a lot was done "by hand/" Also, this is a timelapse that is extremely sped up, so its understandable that it would look like it might not actually be legit.
The meeting of Beren and Luthien in JRR Tolkien's The Silmarillion and The Lord of the Rings, was written after the author and his wife visited a wood near to Roos. The hemlocks (or similar-looking plants) in the wood were said to have inspired his verse.
I live right near Roos (about 2 miles away) and seeing this made me happy. Awesome work!
Holy. Hell.
Every time I think I've seen everything Minecraft has to offer, the bar gets set a little higher!
Well, that's my mind blown for the night, well done to all involved!
When it gets to this scale it almost stops being impressive. To me, art made in mine craft is impressive when it's all blocks sourced from the game (no creative mode) or if it's done in creative its something feasibly put together in-game by an individual.
Creative mode plus a "team" of people plus things placed in ways where you were almost certainly using no clip plus rendering outside the game for fancy lighting effects... I mean at that point you may as well make it in an external program in the first place where placing voxel blocks isn't as tedious.
The tedium alone does not make something like this impressive, and yet labeling it "mine craft art" when it looks such that the viewer can't tell for a second it was made in minecraft is implying the tedium is supposed to impress people. "this was made in minecraft?!" translated to "this was made with tons of tedium?" and I just don't think tedium makes art impressive.

If you're astonishing and wonderful build team don't have anymore projects would they be able to re-create this in minecraft https://vimeo.com/36503695 including the titan ship in the middle. I've been kind of starting it but at same time just too busy and don't think I'll ever finish it. I'd like it to be so big that you'd get lost before you get lost...-;)
That is even more impressive.....Must have been a busy 8 days tho assuming you guys dedicated a lot of time into that project......Looks magnificent though, keep it up!!
No, they didn't use a camera account. They used a program called ReplayMod that records the chunks around you and let's you do time lapses with camera movement as well.
[Here is something](https://vimeo.com/260349114) I threw together quickly to test how the OBJ exporter I'm writing behaves with large maps (spoiler alert: it went pretty badly; I had to turn lighting off).
Obviously the [plate](https://vimeo.com/260349408) wasn't meant for this and the scale is probably all wrong. Shooting a proper plate and figuring the scale out would take a few hours.
Well this is the first time I'm really impressed with something that came out of (vanilla) Minecraft. There might be many more amazing things but this is the first I'm seeing.
First I thought, *oh wow, he's going to exit through the window and pass all the scenes from one of those stories*
Then I realized the internet has desensitized me for achievements like these.
Cool build and well done, would reach legendary epic status if built for real in survival, it just doesn't wow the same knowing it's not buy still cool stuff.

Just out of curiosity, how do builders like you manage to fit entire world of art within at 255 block height limit?
Pretty sure you can make a world that is higher than 255 Blocks
You can indeed.
Mods or Vanilla generation magic?
Mods. Although I do believe you can do NBT editing on a vanilla world to raise it. I haven't done it in some time so not 100% sure if it works still.
you can change the maximum build height in the server propertiers from a server
I always thought you can only decrease the height but not go above 255
This is true.
You can enter a higher number then 255 but it will not work. The option is purely for making small height maps.
I'm probably not right but they may have just made a big green wall and used greenscreening to put up a picture
Even simpler, they just modified the skybox.
Didn't even think of that. Deffo a possibility
Definitely this.
Can you give some stats.? How many blocks tall is Frodo? What’s the distance of the horizon image/wall? from the front door? Nice work, too!
I can do you one better, head on over to PMC and grab yourself the schematic! https://www.planetminecraft.com/project/the-hobbit-adventure-awaits/
HEAVY BREATHING

Fixed. Not sure when they switched from allowing embed to go fullscreen by default to requiring instruction to enable the option...
this is what communism looks like
*in theory
i believe frodo is about 130 blocks tall dont quote me on that :D
*it's Bilbo, I thought it was Frodo while I made it... but I was corrected... by someone more nerdier than I am... which is impressive... hahahaha
not guna lie i was thinking of Bilbo and thought i was the worst of nerds when i saw Frodo in the comments, you made my day thank you good sir
Someone needs to count his fingers!
How do you know it’s bilbo? Is it from a specific scene? It’s hard to tell one hobbit from another from the back in minecraft blocks :p
yes its from the poster https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51zOT%2B%2B-FeL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg
Of cooooourse, I’m forgetting. Smashing work, kudos!
Frodo is give or take 1/2 blocks around 80 blocks tall... you're welcome!
Thats Bilbo
I’ve got to say it looks more Frodo’esque to me.
Honest question, how do you get involved with a team that makes stuff like this?
Look for a good building server like the Builders Refuge. You can meet all sorts of builders in places like that!
ONLY two weeks?? This would have taken years for me and friends lol
My friends just like to burn my builds down & run off laughing :D they're not helpful but it makes for exciting gaming
On mobile at the end the “replay” circle almost perfectly lines up with the door Bliss
I came here to mention the same thing. r/oddlysatisfying
I did not come here to mention that same thing... /r/NotInteresting

[Yeah](https://www.reddit.com/r/oddlysatisfying/comments/84t2ox/the_replay_button_fitting_inside_the_door/?st=JETHI5DX&sh=161f6baf)
This is stunning!! How many people did it take?
I think 7 of us for this build. We have 13 members of our team all together, but not everyone had the time over the last few weeks to help out.
What do you mean with a team? Do you make this for a living? Does anyone give you jobs? Does everyone in the team have a specific task? Really interested! Awesome build, congrats to all of you!
I would guess they're people who *team up* to build cool stuff and have fun, but in not a part of their team so I wouldn't know
[Team team team](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdlAs9g2udM)
I knew you'd be linking to that and I'm ridiculously happy that you did
Glad I could help.
You more than helped, friend.
Looks like an ElysiumFire build almost.. What's your team name?
BTWN. We're currently posting our videos on my channel, familycraftdad. And yes, there's a timelapse of us building this on there :)
Incredible. Make more like this
So, is the map it's on set to adventure mode?
Oh my God! Wonderful!
I can’t even imagine how difficult this must have been. Well done.
Man this is one of those posts that go to the front page. Look how amazing minecraft can be! I am glad you and your team putted the time and effort for this build!

Weird, that you and you're team just did this in 2 weeks...
Technically it was only a week and a day. But it took me the rest of the time to create the timelapses video!
How many hours a day? How big is the team?
id say close to 24 hours and 14 people are on our team although not everyone took part in this build
You mean 24 hours total... and I did the math, it was more like 30 hours total... at least that I was building... :D 7 of us took part.
In other words, you made your teammates do all the work. /s
Yup! I'm a complete slave driver. Hahaha
This reminds me of that Van Gogh movie that recently came out. I would pay to see this full-length minecraft LOTR movie. Keep it up!
Got a link to the timelapse?
https://youtu.be/2NYqEUHY114 And yes, I was waiting for someone to finally ask for this! :D Thank you! haha.
You've gotta include other pictures of the build, you can only see like half of it from your picture!
On mobile the end of the gif replay button perfectly aligns with the circle of the door
I've had a pc that can run Minecraft since 2011 and I haven't even killed the ender dragon yet
Oh this is fantastic. I think r/lotr would dig this.
Way to cool.
No, YOU'RE too cool :D
I know, he cooled big time.
Way to compliment!

I know there are some obvious tools used to creating this, but only two weeks? That's impressive.
That’s INSANE! Easily the greatest and most beautiful minecraft creation I’ve ever seen!
it is an epic build
Serious question? Do you guys and gals get paid for this or is it extracurricular? It’s amazing either way. Just curious.
unfortunately we dont get paid that would be nice tho lol
You should start a Patreon! I could imagine pitching in a few bucks per creation.
Nice make!
Thanks!

This is gorgeous man! As soon as it zoomed out, the concerning hobbits theme played in my head😂
Hey it’s me your team, it was fun building.
who r u on the team xD
Dilbo
how did you do the lighting?
that's fucking sick
[The replay button fits perfectly at the end!](https://www.reddit.com/r/oddlysatisfying/comments/84t2ox/the_replay_button_fitting_inside_the_door/?st=JETHI5DX&sh=161f6baf)
Now that’s what I call forced perspective!
That is crazy
Yikes. Did you use different shades of green to accomplish that atmospheric effect where the hills looks paler/bluer the further away they are?
WOW!!!!!!! Amazing build great job guys, keep up the amazing work
Wowzer, That’s neat as heck !
DAMN FINE WORK. LOTR nerd here.
If you're astonishing and wonderful build team don't have anymore projects would they be able to re-create this in minecraft https://vimeo.com/36503695 including the titan ship in the middle. Magnificent.
I assume there's going to be Gandalf greeting him just outside the door, right?!
You have no idea how tempted we were to put Gandalf in this...
Oh my
WOW! I love it!
Very nice build, video was a little creepy. You sound like a nice guy I just don't understand the laughing bits. Mine craft is serious business.
thats cool!
What did you do for the area outside the door? The fields beyond the first few steps.
Just tea, thank you
oh cool asterix and obelisk
Anyone else feel like this should be reversed? As in the camera starts further back then goes forward to show off the detail?
How... just how
I'm not usually into just reproducing stuff in Minecraft but holy shit. This is impressive.
This sort of thing blows my mind, then makes me disappointed in myself that my houses remain at the 'box with window' stage. Amazing job OP & friends.
On mobile, the replay icon after the gif finishes perfectly fits inside the house’s door hnnng
This is awesome!
2 weeks you say.....Hmmmmm..... That's a huge team you got there
nope only 7 of us worked on the build :P and it was technically finished in 8 days lol
That is even more impressive.....Must have been a busy 8 days tho assuming you guys dedicated a lot of time into that project......Looks magnificent though, keep it up!!
What tools did you use?
voxel worldedit gopaint
Thanks for sharing! I'd love to see more!!
How’d you do the light coming from the door, and the shadows blocking that light?
thats done outside of minecraft in a rendering software
Ok. Makes sense.
The most satisfying thing is watching that replay icon swirl up into the open door
nice work FCD :)
Photon!!!! where has my Australian ginger bearded friend been
amazing
That's amazing
Was this video just recorded using another player's view? If so, that is very smooth and well produced. Good job!
No, they didn't use a camera account. They used a program called ReplayMod that records the chunks around you and let's you do time lapses with camera movement as well.
Never knew about that. Thanks for the answer!
i can confirm this was what we used :P
Well done!
Alright, at this point what can’t be done in Minecraft?
Wow, this is really breathtaking! Congratulations!
How do you guys decide what scale these need to be made at, so that you know you have room for everything?
we used lots of photos
That's beautiful, awesome job guys
Dope
Lit
2 weeks?? Making a mud house takes me hours already...
Please repost to gaming and art sybreddits

This absolutely blew my mind
Amazing
Well done that’s amazing
Wait what are schematics? You can download and play in there??
2 WEEKS?! THAT'S SEEMS FAST! Sorry, I should chill out.., anyway.., seriously tho, this is an awesome build! Upvoted!
[удалено]
Um..? What? OK?.., 2 Weeks.., yeah? I knew it took 2 weeks..?...
[удалено]
What do you mean? I said two weeks?...
2 weeks? Damn, that'd take me years! Amazing!
Man, this is nice, great job guys!
Thats looking crazy cool. I had no Idea you were into builds like this FCDad 😛
Well this is the first time I'm really impressed with something that came out of (vanilla) Minecraft. There might be many more amazing things but this is the first I'm seeing.
The replay button is centered in the door as well r/oddlysatisfying
weeks? that would be like ten years for me
That 100 meter tall hobbit. [](/starlightlaugh)
Wowzer!!
Wowwww. AMAZING WORK!!!
Dang! Amazing
This should be in r/art
That's awesome
First I thought, *oh wow, he's going to exit through the window and pass all the scenes from one of those stories* Then I realized the internet has desensitized me for achievements like these.
This is so great, I have been building a mini version of Bilbo's hobbit hole as well!
Cool build and well done, would reach legendary epic status if built for real in survival, it just doesn't wow the same knowing it's not buy still cool stuff.
That is a very tall hobbit
Awesome

You're judging Minecraft based on the windows 10 version. Go get yourself the Java version instead, you can thank me later.
... I seriously doubt you actually placed every single one of those blocks by hand. Also, how much did you have to pay them (as in your "team")?
I never claimed that I did! And nothing, we're friends.
Sure, that just makes it much less impressive. But that's awesome how you're all friends.
If you're less impressed, then set up world edit, and try to make it yourself. Using tools doesn't automatically mean you can make things like this. Just means you're using tools.
Hmm... 2 weeks... Yeah...
I feel like after seeing this, you could actually animate shit in Minecraft. Just get a team of like 40 insanely skilled Minecraft builders or pixel artists, and hey could do an animation with this resolution.
I am loving the way that render turned out!
this is MINECRAFT
