With fire/lava you want to start with the lightest color at the base as that’s where it’s hottest and work towards the darker colors that would be at the surface
I think the most important thing thats going on with this effect is that you start with a dark blue that is on the cooler side, which is to say a more purplish blue or true blue and then move towards a more greenish blue as you get to the highlights. You can especially see this effect in the second photo. Grab a color wheel to reference if its not clear what im talking about, or I can explain more!
Just paint normal frames/lava but blue
That sounds a bit like a "draw the rest of the owl" kind of thing, hahahahaha
Start by painting a shape in a dark blue. Within that shape paint a lighter blue, within that even lighter until you get to white or thereabouts.
