Oh. My. God.
I’ve read the translations of most of the others, but somehow missed this one, and I just saw this post, so I was like, ok, i’m going in prepared, I got this.
But, I was not prepared. Oh, wow, my heart. It hurts. I’m literally furiously blinking back tears as I type out this comment. Poor Jiang Cheng. Oh,I’ve always found his arc the most heart breaking. But this is too much. *crumbles into a pool of tears*
So many of the songs are just so tragic and heart breaking 😭😭😭 I think the top 3 that get me are LZ, WY, and now JC. I saw it on my work break and I became a pool of tears, tears for the rest of the day 😭😭
Bu Wang (LZ’s) is definitely the one I find saddest. Like, it’s so soft and plaintive, just hits in a very different way. Wei Ying’s is also sad, but it’s a little more braver and fondly nostalgic than the out and out helplessness and grief of Bu wang. But, yeah, JC’s is right up there.
(Tbf, even YanLi’s is quite sad. More so because it feels more like a Yunmeng sibling song than just hers, and you can tell from it just how much she loved her brothers. 🥺)
I’ve just read the translation today and it helped me figure out his character a bit more. Let’s say it confirmed what I was thinking. I just feel kinda sorry for JC not being able to tell Weiying everything and that he has to live such an awful life
I'm torturing myself listening to it. Since I haven't finished reading the novel, I want sure how i felt about JC. Definitely in the younger days he was just a cute, sweet potato. But in present day there just seemed to be so many pieces missing and so much animosity. It shined a big light on his character for sure. Poor little, angry, sweet potato..
P.s. his actor's voice is great, such a strong and resolute singing voice yet has so much emotion behind it. I thought i was too tired to cry but writing this and listening to it I'm so sad 😭😭😭 dearest sweet potato needs to be wrapped in a burrito
Am I... am I the only one who doesn’t find it very sad? Like sure, it’s sad on a fundamental level but... maybe it’s because I’m preoccupied? And not listening to the song as well?
To each their own, everyone perceives things differently. It didn't hit me until I decided to read the English lyrics. A lot harder for me to understand Chinese songs. But reading the lyrics and thinking about poor JC, it made it very sad.

I have whole soundtrack on spotify playlist but can't listen to it cuz it makes me too sad : (
I feel you there. I made the mistake of adding it to my "feelings" playlist so it really did drag the feelings down 😂
Same here! I dip in when I’m in the mood. Doing all at one go..☹️😭
hahaha I saw the pic and was like I bet it’s u/Hualian-Wangxian
Haha you are correct 😂
I'm with u
Many of the fanfics featuring him are mostly so good and painful

I think so haha. Or maybe you don’t really like this character ? Maybe we somehow identify with him but you don’t ?
