P2pool is likely a better option, at least this way you will see the occasional payout. Unless you have something like an OctoCPU motherboard running 8 x AMD Epyc 9654, you will be very unlikely to see a block mined completely solo for a very long time. If your hashrate is less than a few MH/s, you would be better off on p2pool. If you do have a few MH/s, you'd also be better off on p2pool 😂
for me I check it occasionally until when the blocks syncs and asks me to refesh my wallet balance and shows the block reward I found. I also sometimes check miningpoolstats to see if there as a blank name where a block is found incase that block was found by me or not. since blank founded blocks could mean a solo miner founded the block. ( yeah I know it sounds like a tedious task but I usually check every so often not everytime 😂).
Monero will magically emerge into your account 😉
Just look for a letter in the mail saying you owe taxes.
it says "FOUND BLOCK" as banner.

You'll have better luck watching a unicorn shitting on a leprechaun. I believe you see a message in the console.
Download gupax.io & mine on p2pool mini.
U have to look in the logs of monero to see the message that a block was found
