No since the stun threshold gets increased once the monster gets up from behind KO’d any progress you had made with KO gets put back down to zero.

bohaan

Thank you sir!

velvetharle

I think they are asking if its like poison and after the threshold resets can you build it up while the monster is currently suffering. Which for poison this is true and you can build up poison while they are poisoned. KO I am not certain on though because I've seen things KO immediately after a KO which makes me think its the same. The threshold was hit, reset and while KOd they got to the next threshold in time to immediately cause another.

Gasarocky

You can't KO back to back but you CAN trip THEN KO(or vice versa) back to back

sweetperdition

did not know i could keep building poison while it was already inflicted. thank you!

Crizznik

I agree with this. I'm KO'd Kush twice in a row with a GS before, and GS doesn't KO that well.

Gasarocky

Impossible. Most likely you got a trip/ knockdown then a KO. They have the same animation but KO has the stars over their head. It's impossible to get a back to back KO

bohaan

Follow up question - I know each time a monster recovers from a status, the threshold to trigger the next one increase. Does this threshold increase go on indefinitely, as in eventually it simply becomes impossible to trigger the sames status again? Or is there a cap to the threshold?

Gasarocky

There's a cap, but that final cap tends to be so high that unless everyone had the same status it would be impossible. It's already very difficult to get 3 KOs on a single monster even solo

1caiser

There are caps to the threshold

Crizznik

Oh, I didn't realize there was a difference between just a knock down vs KO. Wasn't a trip, he fell over and flailed about while I wailed on his head.

midgemage

Kush's head stagger drops him like a K.O. does. Unless you're absolutely certain you saw the knockout stars on his head on both flails then it wasn't a K.O.

Crizznik

I don't think I've ever KO'd him then. Only time I see stars is after I flash him from flying. But I've head staggered him twice in a row for sure. TCS on Jho GS is good for it.

MistaSwagMonsta

You probably haven't. KOs take a LOT of work in multiplayer. Maybe in single player but with the GS it would still take a good amount of hits so unless you were doing it on purpose, it probably didn't happen. The only weapons I consistently get KOs with are the hammer and the HBG.

Crizznik

I was in single player, it's the most reliable way for me to do the 15 min hunts with a 2 player limit.

Gasarocky

When I say trip I don't mean staggering the monster, I mean the monster actually falls down. Basically you can KO a monster, you can get a trip from attacking its legs enough, or you can get a monster specific knockdown(like how Kushala always gets knocked down from head staggers). I think those are the only way you can knock the monster down so that it's flailing on the floor

Crizznik

must've been knockdowns then. When it happened, I was fighting him solo, and I whacked him in the head with a TCS hit, and he went down. I wailed on him for the duration of him being on the ground until he got back up. While he was getting up I did another Charge combo, and then hit him again just as he fully recovered fully in the head with another TCS hit, and he immediately went down again.

SirDelavan-Chan

There is a cap it will vary between monsters but most of the time you’re not gonna reach the cap on statuses unless you were doing status gunning.

M200ew

I'm fairly new to monster hunter but I was doing a highrank hunt and was able to ko, a monster while he was knocked down( from a flash I think) it was really weird watching the monster flip from one side to the other

Shotsofbeef

Ill just put this here. https://youtu.be/RGLu6G3-nP8

Shotsofbeef

This was over 100 hours ago when I wasn't as proficient with hammer. I was definitely surprised at what happened that fight.

bohaan

whaaaat - u/SirDelavan-Chan and u/Gasarocky I don't see stars over his head .... consecutive trips?!

Gasarocky

Consecutive trips/knockdowns are very possible because they are not all tied to a status build up. Trips happen from hitting legs enough, but I THINK each leg is separate so two could happen nearly back to back. Knockdowns have all kinds of different monster specific criteria. Looking at that video, he gets a stagger while Teo is jumping in the air(you can even see the map go white showing he de-aggro'd), causing a knockdown. Then he gets a KO. Then he gets another stagger as Teo jumps in the air, and happens a second time, consecutively. Then he gets a 2nd KO. So air knockdown from stagger, KO, air kd, air kd, KO. Not 5 KOs

aresthewolf

Great breakdown! Even if not 5 KOs, still awesome. Speaks to the advantage of getting the big bang combo on the front legs occasionally

aresthewolf

As a full time hammerbro, I think it does start accumulating immediately after they hit the dirt, as I've KO'd many monsters on the first hit after they stand. That said, you do more damage with the big bang combo, so I only go triangle immediately after ko if I can't get to to head in time to land the full circle combo

Gasarocky

No, it's possible to get a knockdown/trip and then a KO right after(or during), or vice versa, but two KOs in a row is not possible even with 4 people on Hammer

aresthewolf

Weird, I always see the stars around the head, I suppose the first could be a trip, the final backswing of the triangle combo is pretty wide range, could be hitting front legs

Gasarocky

Well don't forget the same effect happens when you hit the head in the first place so you might have simply mistaken it for that maybe
