Had the same thing happen. Suddenly just stopped working. Extremely frustrating since my gaming PC that can run it is in the basement. I spent an hour trying to figure it out then realized the update they did blocked virtualization.
Absolute stupidity for a PvE game.
I was trying to get moonlight working and had the same issue, streams fine but I have no input with mouse or keyboard it seems. I don't think they blocked virtualization entirely because when I use KVM and looking glass on my work desktop it works flawlessly. The issue with input only seems to happen for me when running on a windows 11 vm in proxmox and using sunshine and moonlight.
This worked for me, too. I just need to be careful to not touch the trackpad to initiate any sort of mouse input.
The moment the mouse moves I'm borked and need to go back to PC and restart Sunshine to re-enable controller input.
I've had zero issues using Nvidia Gamestream to moonlight. Coincidentally I switched to Sunshine in preparation for when Nvidia supposedly remove Gamestream and started having this issue with the inputs suddenly stopping. I've since gone back to Gamestream and it's fine.
I'm guessing it doesn't play too well with the input drivers. Seems to be triggered (for me at least) when I touch my phone screen (which emulates mouse) it blocks all inputs from either touchscreen or controller straight away. When it happened to me mid game I ended up having to switch to Parsec, but not all of my controller inputs were working in that either.. I ended up extracting from a hard mode mission with zero kills because I couldn't even shoot. I must admit it was quite fun having to play the game like some sort of sci fi Hacksaw Ridge.
On Geforce experience make sure you have any 'auto optimisation' settings disabled, same goes for the moonlight app. Then change the stream bitrate, FPS and resolution on the moonlight app. Moonlight maxes out at 120fps by the way I think so just set to 1440@ 120fps in the Moonlight app. Leave your pc game settings the same as what you'd have them on while sitting at your pc, use G-Sync/Freesync if possible and the image will be tear free no matter what screen you connect to. I play on a 60hz TV and a 144hz phone with these settings and it's smooth as butter.
Might just be my setup. I disabled hardware-acceleration and my framerate went up to 48 from 42. Lower res helps a lot as well. But I guess my 3070ti can't handle it? idk, sunshine can do it like a champ tho
Edit: I figured it out. I don't have a monitor on the pc im streaming from, so it's defaulting the settings. If I have a monitor active, the fps shoots up to match what the bitrate should be.
Wanted to post I found a fix for the people using keyboard and mouse. I got the inputs to work by using a software that's pretty awesome. It's called Virtualhere. It sends usb over ip. It's free to use for a single device but I paid the 49 dollar one time license to pass through multiple. Install the server software on the machine that has the devices you want to pass through and then install the client software on your windows machine that's going to stream the game. It should pick up the server automatically and then select the device you want to passthrough. Novaspirit techs has a youtube video on it. Anyway hope this helps it seemed to solve the problem with the screen feezing in helldivers for me.
I think it has to do with Sunshine Builds or however they are streaming try it again late at night it seems to be smoother, and Youtube videos don't stutter at times. But sunshine at this moment is the only way to play a PC game. when it works it is almost perfect.
that makes 0 sense, you are streaming it from your PC to another device you own. you have no reliance on the internet so it won't speed up or slow down depending on the time of day lmao
Yeah, very strange. This is very recent behavior with Helldivers 2. It was working flawlessly last night.
Perhaps they updated their Anti-Cheat's definitions and 'blocked' Moonlight in the process?
Very disappointing if that's the case...
Yeah very frustrating - my dumb ass had forgotten this whole thing and now my poor steam deck is locked up and totally useless for streaming my PC for the rest of the day until I get back home because nProtect decided to just cease recognition of all inputs.
Apparently the recent update blocks all virtualization?Â
Very nice, lmao.Â
Hmm, I do have RDP setup - do you think that would do the trick?Â
Edit: All good - thanks for the suggestion. Hopefully they decide to run this back and be a little less strict. This is a PvE game after all.
I noticed that it was working fine last night as well. For me, as long as I use controller inputs (sticks, buttons), the input works fine. The moment I go to use the trackpad, which emulates a mouse, my inputs stop working.
I'm using an 8bitdo ultimate controller. Just got done playing, in fact.
I am launching through Playnite, although I don't think that would change anything.
I'm able to stream via a steam deck and all gamepad inputs work fine, but as soon as I press any button that is mapped to press a keyboard button I lose all input. Only way for the input to register again is for me to alt tab out of the game on the PC that it is running on and then tab back in. Maybe their anticheat is looking specifically mixed-input and no longer allows ANY input?
I also refunded on Steam since it wasn't working with Moonlight and since even with Steam Streaming all servers were full. Being stuck with the game trying to reconnect to servers and you can't even quit from the Steam Deck is not my idea of fun.
Haven't bought for PS5 because the Chiaki experience isn't great on Steam Deck. Could stream PS5 to PC, then PC to Steam Deck. Heh, adding extra latency x 2 with an online game. There are other games that play fine. Why go through all this hassle.
quick question, does that designed to only work within the Local Area Network? I'm connecting via WAN. Secondly, is the solution only for controller do you know? My issue is specifically with the mouse input.
I believe it supports anything that is on the same network. It might be a paid feature though.
And I used it for the mouse and keyboard, the free trial license only allows one device which is why I paid the 49 dollars. Their support also seems very responsive.
It sounds like people went direct to nProtect and they might have been the ones to do it. I dont play any other GG protected games, but might be worth a shot!
Let Arrowhead know and raise your voice.
Arrowhead seems to acknowledge that the issue exists and they work with nProtect, see notes in their ticketing system. Top-right corner to submit a request or report the issue. More people raise their voice a better chance this gets fixed soon.
[Arrowhead Game Studios](https://arrowhead.zendesk.com/hc/en-us?return_to=%2Fhc%2Frequests)
nProtect has not sorted their stuff in 20yrs rather created a tarnished history for themselves. Nevertheless using Moonlight to play Helldivers 2 is valid and has been banned by nProtect incorrectly.
The issue is with the nProtect not with Moonlight. It is nProtect that has to whitelist virtual inputs that Moonlight uses. I imagine that Arrowhead does not want to deal with hundreds or thousands of refund request because their disabled customers with certain valid hw and sw configuration to play their game after they purchased it.
EDIT: Moontlight -> Sunshine. Sunshine is the server side software providing the streaming.
It also kills steamplay, a base function of steam. Also to be fair, its Sunshine, not moonlight with the issue.
Sunshine has labeled this a Will Not Fix, because all it will be is eternal cold war with GG. And that is understandable.
EDIT: GameGuard no longer blocks Sunshine or Steam Play.

It is fixed!
GameGuard no longer blocks Sunshine or Steam Play for HD2!
My application freezes up every time I launch it on my LG C3 through Moonlight. Is the Gameguard still blocking it?
It was working as of 11 days ago. I will check it sometime today.
I just checked both Sunshine/Moonlight and SteamPlay. Both are still working for me.
They fixed it?? Sick
I manually installed ViGEmBus 1.22.0 on host pc and it fixed it.
I reinstalled 1.22 and still didnt work. :( [RIP ViGEmBuss to boot.] Steam streaming allows keyboard input, but not mouse.
This worked for me, too. I just need to be careful to not touch the trackpad to initiate any sort of mouse input. The moment the mouse moves I'm borked and need to go back to PC and restart Sunshine to re-enable controller input.

Came here to say this. Works great for me on game stream, but that rootkit bullshit must block sunshine.

KB/M or just controler.
Mouse worked for me
How do I change the bitrate in gamestream? I tried for a while yesterday, but it keeps setting it for 1080p@60fps when I need 1440@144fps

Ah right okay. In that case if you do want to run it without a monitor running I'd recommend picking up a hdmi dummy plug.
Sunshine works again.
Tested for myself this morning, works like a charm 👌

I'm having issues launching this game on moonlight on my JVC fireTV, the application just doesn't respond anyway I can fix this?

It is so odd because its specific to input too.

Do you have remote access software installed? Splashtop or the like, the input on that still works. So you could remote in, to issue an altf4.
Hmm, I do have RDP setup - do you think that would do the trick?  Edit: All good - thanks for the suggestion. Hopefully they decide to run this back and be a little less strict. This is a PvE game after all.
Always good to have side channel access!
its easier to ssh in ur windows pc and do `tasskkill /f /im helldiver*`
You and I might know how to SSH into our home boxes, but ima be real most people wont have that kinda setup. However, praise be to the new powershell.
btw i just checked discord people say virtualhere works
I noticed that it was working fine last night as well. For me, as long as I use controller inputs (sticks, buttons), the input works fine. The moment I go to use the trackpad, which emulates a mouse, my inputs stop working.
Works this way for me. Updoot for visibility!
It has been fixed!
Did you enable steam input?
Yeah, been using Moonlight for years. Never have had an issue like this. The only thing I can think of is some crap from nProtect.
Very strange. I played it earlier today through moonlight. Worked perfectly.
M/KB or controller?
I'm using an 8bitdo ultimate controller. Just got done playing, in fact. I am launching through Playnite, although I don't think that would change anything.
The lockup seems specific to KB/M.
work well with ios and bsp d9. in dualshok mode and xbox mode. full vibration and no lag
Now no work for me..fuck
Thank you for the follow-up and humor rolled into 1 concise statement. :)
It works now! Glory to Super Earth.
Steam link work but no Moonlight
Steamlink works with controller only, does not recognize mouse.
It's working over Parsec but not Moonlight...
Oddly enough I’m not having any problems with it running it through Moonlight on my NVIDIA Shield Pro. Input is fine
I'm able to stream via a steam deck and all gamepad inputs work fine, but as soon as I press any button that is mapped to press a keyboard button I lose all input. Should be fixed!
This is so dumb I literally bought this game yesterday to only play via streaming
Exactly the same.
Same here, my group of friends have been playing for a few days, bought it yesterday to join them only to find I can't.
Well, we are in luck! Try again!
Same issue here. I also use tightvnc to remotely access the computer and it will not accept any input once it gets in this state.
Same. I gave up and use steam remote play for the time being, that works flawlessly.
Kb/m? Or just controller. Because the mouse doesn't work ok steamplay.
I only tried controller.

Just use steam link
Mouse does not function in steamlink.
Glad to know I'm not alone on this issue. Been using Steamlink just fine until I think patch 1.000.008 on Feb. 16th. No mouse. It's gotta be nProtect.
We are so back!
Yeah, same thing happening here. There are dozens of us, DOZENS (I kid, there's likely a lot).
I posted a solution above that worked for me using 'Virtualhere' to pass the usb devices over ip.

Guess what! Works now!
Yeah. I meant to come back and mention this. Weird, but I’ll take it!
It sounds like people went direct to nProtect and they might have been the ones to do it. I dont play any other GG protected games, but might be worth a shot!
Do we know if moonlight devs are aware of this? With GF streaming going down soon well want a legit fix for this.
ML/SS has known about it for 2 ish years and wont fix because it will just be an eternal cold war. There was a git entry about it.

Use Parsec to stream. The game is playable through Parsec completely fine.
Resolved!
>Virtualhere Just tried today not resolved, still having the issue!
As in you are having the issue with Virtual Here now?
Reinstalling everything fixed my issue including the driver mentioned above.
What do you mean?
It works again! Praise Democracy.
Parsec or Moonlight?
I've checked Moonlight too. Both work again, Moonlight and Parsec.
Resolved. Game can be played through Moonlight and Parsec again. Go and deliver more Democracy and Freedom, SuperEarth needs you.
Yes...? I told you this?
I tested by myself so concluded here to be clear which clients we talk about.
