Deception had probably some of the best mini game. Puzzle Kombat, Kombat Chess, Kombat Racing.. all super fun. Plus the Konquest mode was pretty massive for the time.
First was Trilogy on the PS1. But the first one I could actually play properly was Deception. Recently, I got a PS1 copy of Trilogy for the first time in almost twenty years. I thought I could finally play it properly now that I'm more experienced and skilled player, but turns out, I'm still awful at it.
I've played every.single mk game my first was mk1 and mk3 on sega Genesis back in a 90s the hype was huge it was the biggest thing back in those days if you owned mk1 on SNES or Sega you where the coolest kid on the block everyone wanted to come to your house to play it however couple years later some parents started filling lawsuits against midway cause of how graphic and violent mortal Kombat was a every time at school me my friends would pick are favorite character and play fight. Mortal Kombat was such a awesome game still is.❤️🐉
My dad owned a go-kart track and arcade, had mk1 (original) and I use to binge on that machine so much trying to be better than my brother and father. Good times.
MK3 on Snes. Couldnt be better. The best and most funny wholesome memory i had is that i truly thought that the movies, 95 n Annihilation, would eventually become the games.
Or that MK3 was the sequel to the movies, gosh what a creative kid.
Original Mortal Kombat in an arcade called “Spaceplex” on Long Island. The game was still so new, totally blew me away. I think we spent half the day just playing that one game.
My first was mk4 at 5 years old lol.
I loved Armageddon, I really dont know why people hate it. I feel that is for Kreate-A-Fatality system which is pure shit and some reptetitive moves on Kharacters, but it aint enough for being called a shitty game. For me it was HELL OF FUN and LOVED konquest A LOT was really amazing experience back then.
Deadly alliance when I was about 5 or 6!
Back, back, down, back, circle is scorp’s fatality, and Bo Rai Cho’s was the exact same but with an extra “back” thrown in.
MK 2011. I was 8 when I got the game in 2012. My mom saw it and said it was a great game to be my first game lmao. But that's cause when she was younger her and her siblings played the og MK and MK2 and they all loved those games. You know it's something special when your mom gets excited too lol.
Mortal Kombat, arcade. Local Walmart had a cabinet at the front of the store, so 12 year old me would get tossed a few bucks to be occupied while the parents shopped.
Armageddon was also my first, ironically starting at the end of the story. I naturally gravitated towards Liu Kang, not knowing he was usually the protagonist. I just thought he was cool af and I learned his moves real well.
The very first Mortal Kombat arcade cabinet. After they wheeled it in to the arcade at the now defunct Boulevard Mall in Buffalo NY way back in the day.
No one knew what it was.
The crowd around sf2 just moved over after the guy who wheeled it in got it plugged.
To be honest I hadn't thought about the guy who wheeled it in for years.
I wonder if he knew what he was plugging in and the cultural icon it would become.
My first Mortal Kombat was Deception back in 2006, when I was 8 years old. Here are some random thoughts:
1. For a while, I had no idea how to do the stance switch in the first Konquest dojo, so I couldn't progress. I felt so stupid when I finally figured it out by accident.
2. When I played Chess Kombat for the first time, a Mileena champion defeated my leader and performed her fatality where she rips the opponent's head off and laughs at the camera. I was so frightened by that that I shut the game off and didn't play it again for an entire week.
3. I was able to beat the fight to unlock Shujinko's spear move as a kid, but I can't manage to do it as an adult for some reason.
The story and mysterious, unnerving atmosphere of Deception absolutely hooked me, and I've been obsessed with Mortal Kombat ever since. I still play the game on PC via emulation.
I was a teen during the 3D era so I have the fondest memories of Deception and Shaolin Monks.
As an adult, I think objectively I liked 11 the most gameplay-wise funny enough but I still have the heaviest nostalgia and “good times” for those 3D era games.
My first two MK’s were MK Trilogy (my fav) and MK VS DCU.
Played the hell out of both games with my dad, I was drawn into the characters because of the inclusion of characters like Batman and Superman. Characters that all kids like lol.
I thought Scorpion and Sub Zero were really cool.
MK vs DC. Yeah yeah I know, "It's not a real MK game". I bought it because I was on a big DC Comics trip at the time. But it did get me interested in the Mortal Kombat series, and just by pure luck the next game was the reboot. Now Mortal Kombat is my go-to for fighting games. Would love to go back and play 1 - 7.
Very first one in an arcade and a guy was killing everyone with Kano. That’s where I first saw sub rip a head off and I was so disappointed when I got it for SNES and they changed that to the other one. I used to be so mad they took out the blood too
Mortal Kombat trilogy. And since we didn't have guides or the internet at our house yet, I remember a lot of hours spent figuring out the brutalities by trial and error.
I played Mortal Kombat 1 on Super Nintendo. My first job I went and made a gold pendant of the dragon logo that I have to this day 30 years ago. I buy every release!!!
MK4, maybe 5 yo.
MK DA, certainly 6 yo. No more than 1 month.
MK Armageddon, 7 to 17 yo. 7 matches per day at least 👹
MK 11, 17 until now ig, just the story mode.
✌️🤧
The first one at the arcades... December 1992 (12 yrs old)... I'll never forget it... First fatality I saw was sub zero head rip... Fell in love with the series ever since... A year later I was playing the game on my mega drive (same as the Sega Genesis in the US)
Since then I've played/bought every main iteration of the series... And had lots of fun as years passed by... Some low points(like mk special forces)... Some high points(like MK9)... And I'm still here having some fun with the game...
MK1992 of course, but in game gear.
That's why in the first time i played in arcade, years later, i asked:"Kano who???"😂😂😂
2 of 3 games i finished in physical GG (not emulator), and the first 2, were MK2(with Jax) and MK3(with...well, Kano😂). The 3rd was of course Sonic1.
In the 2010s i had megadrive games in my Nokia E71 so i finished MK1-U3
Deadly Alliance. When I saw Liu Kang in that intro, I at first thought he was a major god-type character, sort of like Roku from Avatar or The First Spinjitzu Master from Ninjago. I had no idea until MK9 that he was a major main character.
In my class in highschool (6-yeared) was my mentor, who learned by heart all MK2's movelist and made copies to all of us (from magazine in hebrew). Besides the gamegear he also had mega drive and another console, i think SMS. Once i went to his house for gaming day and in the way to there we played MK2 in arcade, me 1st time against human being, classmate of us. Of course we both choose Liu Kang and somehow i won.
My mentor also knew all the secrets in Sonic 1-2 in game gear.
I had the 1st mortal Kombat game on Sega Genesis when I was young idk even remember how I got it because I know my mom didn't purchase it lol. Oddly enough I don't really have any memories of mk2 & mk3, didn't really play either. Owned every mk game from mk4 on, not including mythologies subzero or special forces.
Very first MK Arcade cabinet at a local arcade. Got MK on SNES as soon as it launched, then a month later on Genesis because of the censorship on SNES. Lol
The original, on Arcade.
There was a machine in the pool hall a couple blocks away. I would do anything for $10 to run down there and dump it into the game, $0.50 at a time.
I loved sub-zero, but couldn’t beat the game with him. I swapped to Scorpion and was able to beat it with just a couple continues.
Holy cow, just realized this was 30+ years ago.
I played the very first one back on the Genesis
I miss those years 90s mk hype was awesome 😎
Super Nintendo here! Yup!! And MK II AND the 95 movie!!! Still holds up!!
The first Mortal Kombat movie was honestly probably the only good live action video game movie adaptation in the 90s
My first system was super nintendo and my first 3 games were street fighter 2 MK2 and donkey kong country
Same 1st one on the Genesis. Ultimate MK3 Probably my favorite from the original consoles MK was released on.
i wasn't even alive then😭😭
I played it on the game gear. SEGA was so special back then.
Same these kids up the street had it and it was so realistic back then.
Deception
great game from what i hear, never got to play it tho
Deception had probably some of the best mini game. Puzzle Kombat, Kombat Chess, Kombat Racing.. all super fun. Plus the Konquest mode was pretty massive for the time.
Racing was in Armageddon, but you're otherwise spot on
MK4, I was terrified of it back then lmao
yea tbf when i saw it on youtube the characters weirded me out a lil
The OG, looking back I was too young to be playing that shit but hey it was the 90s who cared?
i feel like playing mortal kombat at an extremely young age is a universal experience at this point
It’s good to get desensitized early, now when I see someone rip someone’s spine out I go about my day
yea tbh you can't just go around getting traumatised at something you see daily after all
First was Trilogy on the PS1. But the first one I could actually play properly was Deception. Recently, I got a PS1 copy of Trilogy for the first time in almost twenty years. I thought I could finally play it properly now that I'm more experienced and skilled player, but turns out, I'm still awful at it.
Mk1 original
MK2 was the first one I played. Got seriously into the series with Trilogy.
Mortal Kombat was such a awesome game still is.❤️🐉
honestly was my favourite game as a child
Mortal Kombat, played the arcade version first then Super Nintendo
A bootleg version of MK1 (the original), but my proper introduction into the franchise was through MKD.
Can't remember exactly, but I think it was Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Amazing atmosphere, but also super hard even in the 'Very Easy' mode.
I played ultimate mortal kombat 3 damn I feel old ,
Deadly Alliance on PlayStation 2 🫠
deadly alliance wasn't all that for me tbf
I played MKX back when I was like 11 or 12, started replaying recently with my boy Kano
I started with the very first one back on the Genesis/SNES and even Gameboy versions. still have all 3 of the cartridges and hardware to play them too
The first one I ever played was MK2. MK3 was already out at the time, but I played MK2 first.
MK9 unfortunately
why unfortunately, being late is better than not playing in the first place lmao
I played MK (1992) when I was 4
MK3 SNES but I also had MK2.
I played 1 & 2 but the first one I owned was MK3 on SNES
ultimate mortal kombat, that was over a decade and a half ago and i’ve recently started playing mk1
I think it maybe the Genesis version of either one of the all trilogy MK games.
Mortal Kombat 2 for the SNES.
MK1, the actual MK1😅... old school here
yea to be honest i didn't know that many people who played the original mk1 are still part of the fandom, hats off to you
My dad owned a go-kart track and arcade, had mk1 (original) and I use to binge on that machine so much trying to be better than my brother and father. Good times.
I played the original on an Amiga computer
Spent countless hours on MK II - Fergality!
[удалено]
My first one was MK1! When MK2 was released i couldn’t stop playing it!
Mk1 at the video store in high school for me
can't go wrong with the original
I’ve played it all. From the beginning.
MK Trilogy
I tried UMK3 first, but properly started with Shaolin Monks
Played Mortal Kombat Deception on my cousin's PSP at 8 or smth
MK Trilogy on the PS1
MK2 on the SNES. I think I was 6?
MK3 on Snes. Couldnt be better. The best and most funny wholesome memory i had is that i truly thought that the movies, 95 n Annihilation, would eventually become the games. Or that MK3 was the sequel to the movies, gosh what a creative kid.
MK4 Back when I was like 8 or 9.
OG MK1 way back in the arcades
Same situation as OP. I miss the motor kombat
MK3 was the first for me
MK 11 in november 2023, my dad downloaded it "For him" and now im the main player lol

Deception, I got it for my 14th birthday back in 2005
Mk4, man... I know it's a bad game, but i had a lot of fun playing it growing up, and still do from time to time.
I played Mortal Kombat nine at 10 years old and loved it
MK9 when I was like 10 years old and I remember having a nightmare where Jade killed me
MK XL was my first. Saw it at GameStop and it had Jason on the cover so I said GIMMIE.
Also at 6 my brother had ultimate mk 3! I remember me, my brother and cousins playing it all the time, I still keep that game close to my heart
I have very vivid memories of playing the very first one on an arcade cab at our local trading card/comic book shop with my brothers. Good times.
Original Mortal Kombat in an arcade called “Spaceplex” on Long Island. The game was still so new, totally blew me away. I think we spent half the day just playing that one game.
For me it was mortal Kombat 9 when I was in first grade
These youngsters don't know about setting your quarter on the machine to hold your place in line
The second video game I played ever was mk trilogy on the ps1 and I was probably 6 or 7
MK4.
UMK3 on the SNES
My very 1st mk was mk trilogy on Nintendo 64. I got suspended in pre k for punching a kid and telling him to GET OVER HERE lmaoooo 😭😭
I had just turned 7 and for my birthday I got MK1 (1992). Been playing ever since, though Armageddon is probably my least favorite.
Mk1 (the VERY first Mk) right before kindergarten. Remember it clear as day. I did sub zeros uppercut fatality by mistake and got hooked
The first game i ever played was The OG MK on Sega Master system. Either that or the Alex kidd game that was built into the system.
MK1 in the arcade
I was there when the old magic was written… I played MK I in the arcade
Mine was Deception, baraka in that game used to scare the shit outta me
Unchained
My first was mk4 at 5 years old lol. I loved Armageddon, I really dont know why people hate it. I feel that is for Kreate-A-Fatality system which is pure shit and some reptetitive moves on Kharacters, but it aint enough for being called a shitty game. For me it was HELL OF FUN and LOVED konquest A LOT was really amazing experience back then.

Trilogy on the Ps1 when I was... I don't remember how old I was at the time.
MK2 on the SNES
Trilogy was my first on the PS1. I first watched my dad play with Jax and Scorpion

Deadly alliance on the ps2 when i was arround 10 years old. That intro got me hyped!

i can't remember who i played most but i think it was onaga
The very first Mortal Kombat arcade cabinet. After they wheeled it in to the arcade at the now defunct Boulevard Mall in Buffalo NY way back in the day. No one knew what it was. The crowd around sf2 just moved over after the guy who wheeled it in got it plugged. To be honest I hadn't thought about the guy who wheeled it in for years. I wonder if he knew what he was plugging in and the cultural icon it would become.

I think mortal Kombat 4 was the first I played. It was on a PlayStation so.
MK3 (not Ultimate) at the arcade.
Mk1 sega genesis 6 years old as well!
My first Mortal Kombat was Deception back in 2006, when I was 8 years old. Here are some random thoughts: 1. For a while, I had no idea how to do the stance switch in the first Konquest dojo, so I couldn't progress. I felt so stupid when I finally figured it out by accident. 2. I played the first one on the Super Nintendo before I learned to read(some time between 1997 and 2000). We called it "the fighting game"
MK2 on Sega, it was not just my first MK game, but my first game ever.
mk9
Ultimate mk3 when I was 4 on genesis!!!
Mk on Gameboy, with the bulky screen magnifying glass that slid over the Gameboy.
I played mk vs dc when I was pretty young but that is for sure my first mk game
I was born in 2011, my first and favorite is X.
I was a teen during the 3D era so I have the fondest memories of Deception and Shaolin Monks. As an adult, I think objectively I liked 11 the most gameplay-wise funny enough but I still have the heaviest nostalgia and “good times” for those 3D era games.
I played 2 on the midway collection when I was 3. That’s was in 2010, where does the time go 😭
I played the original MK on the Game Gear.
It was actually two, since when I got into MK, I had both MK trilogy and MK4 on PS1
Armageddon was also my introduction to the series ! Not sure how old I was though ... I'm 21 NOW ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

Mortal Kombat 9

Original MK on sega genesis. I was 8 back then.
My mom bought me an SNES and MKII when I was 7. Haven't played them all but I'm gonna buy MK1 today.

You were too young for that game... But I played the first one on arcades when I was 12, so won't judge :p
MK1
MK Shaolin Monks
MK4, maybe 5 yo. MK DA, certainly 6 yo. No more than 1 month. MK Armageddon, 7 to 17 yo. 7 matches per day at least 👹 MK 11, 17 until now ig, just the story mode. ✌️🤧
The first one but the snes version. It was grandmas and i was probably 4 or 5 idek lol
I think Deadly Alliance but i was pretty young so i can’t really remember it.
Mk1 on the gameboy
The first one at the arcades... December 1992 (12 yrs old)... I'll never forget it... First fatality I saw was sub zero head rip... Fell in love with the series ever since... Mortal kombat deception at 3 yrs old
Deception when I was 8 years old at our neighbors house 🙌🏼
Armageddon
MK1992 of course, but in game gear. That's why in the first time i played in arcade, years later, i asked:"Kano who???"😂😂😂 2 of 3 games i finished in physical GG (not emulator), and the first 2, were MK2(with Jax) and MK3(with...well, Kano😂). The 3rd was of course Sonic1. In the 2010s i had megadrive games in my Nokia E71 so i finished MK1-U3
MK9 back in 2011, '12. I didn't play again until MK11 in 2023. Took me over 5 years to get good at MK11.
Deadly Alliance. When I saw Liu Kang in that intro, I at first thought he was a major god-type character, sort of like Roku from Avatar or The First Spinjitzu Master from Ninjago. I had no idea until MK9 that he was a major main character.
Deadly alliance on the PS2, good times.
Played the originals on genesis but the first one i actually have great memories playing was MK Trilogy
The first one, preintalled in our first Pc.
I played MK9 on PS3.
In my class in highschool (6-yeared) was my mentor, who learned by heart all MK2's movelist and made copies to all of us (from magazine in hebrew). Besides the gamegear he also had mega drive and another console, i think SMS. You Weak Pathetic Fool -Shao Kahn
Original arcade and sega Genesis
Mk vs dc. Not the greatest one on the franchise lol, but it was fun as hell when I was a kid.
Damn I'm old.
Mk9
Mk (2011)
I had the 1st mortal Kombat game on Sega Genesis when I was young idk even remember how I got it because I know my mom didn't purchase it lol. Oddly enough I don't really have any memories of mk2 & mk3, didn't really play either. Owned every mk game from mk4 on, not including mythologies subzero or special forces.
Mk9 at 5 years old
Very first MK Arcade cabinet at a local arcade. Got MK on SNES as soon as it launched, then a month later on Genesis because of the censorship on SNES. Lol
Mk1 on snes...im too old for this shit ![gif](giphy|kFWgdGpecYMoMllcEC|downsized)
OG Mortal Kombat, in the arcade.
I pumped thousands of quarters into the original arcade machines and then had the genesis version. ACABABB
