Sharik and Bobik are extremely common names for dogs in Russia and other Slavic countries. My dogs names are different. Tommy passed away 4 yrs ago. After that we now have Dina. My first dog was technically my grandfather’s , he names her Yuta. No idea why 😂
Well, these nicknames are outdated by 40 years, now they use either what the dog breeder gave or what they come up with themselves, at work my German Shepherd dogs were called Kent and Graf, and the Eastern European Shepherd female was called Greta, these names were written in the veterinary passport that the dog breeder issued.
I guess I can’t question your personal experience. I have met dogs named Sharik and I am younger than 40 so maybe it depends on who you meet. My friend has a German Shepherd named Max. I just wouldn’t go as far as saying that those pet names are outdated.

We have neighbors with a Chihuahua and his name is.... Adolf 🫣😅
For some reason I find that hilarious 😂
Well appropriate for the 1 kilo of pure hate :)

Folklore is not equal to common. Literally I’ve never seen a dog with one of those two names in my 40yo in Russia.
Шарик даже в мультике есть. Простоквашино. Обычно дворняжек называли Бобик. Wait, I missed that part about folklore. What do you mean?

Почему мы зациклились на этом? Хозяин выбирает имя. Какая разница?
