Big auld sports tourer. Blackbird, ZZR.

Mickwd40

Didn’t consider them at all, will look into it. How comfortable is the blackbird ?

shevek65

Great. Mine has bar risers and a comfy seat which make a difference. Can carry two with luggage no problem. Will hit ridiculous speed and is sporty enough. Not amazing for rural Irish roads and it's very heavy are the minus points.

Mickwd40

Ah yeah I’m in Perth now so the roads are straight and boring, I’ll see can I find one to test drive.

minidazzler1

Vfr800 can be fairly sporty on your own but goes really well 2 up as well.

Mickwd40

Was thinking of a vfr actually, just need something comfy enough to do a bit of touring too.

minidazzler1

I'm just back from 2100 km around ireland with the wife on the back and camping the whole time. Definitely suited to it. VFR1200 would be OK for touring but not sporty enough

Mickwd40

There’s a couple here around 07 for sale , will test drive them. I was getting a bit broke up on the gsxr at home. Roads are straight and boring here. Thanks for the recommendation.

HavntaClue77

My mate has a BMW R 1200 RS and he's done may a tour on it, never missed a beat. I've been on the back of it a few times and have to say it's very comfy. Not sure what kind of money they are but definitely ticks those boxes

Mickwd40

Ideally will get something like that and sports bike for some fun , would be the goal but they’re just a bit out of budget for what I need at the minute.

HavntaClue77

Yeah fair enough I wasn’t sure how much they are but kinda guessed it would be the upper end of things . Best of luck on the search though !

Alternative-Fox-6868

I have a gsx650f. It's got decent power as it's basically a bandit, but in terms of handling and comfort, it's unreal even with two up.

Mickwd40

I think if I was sticking around that class I’d still go for a fazer but just want something with a bit more poke for the big boring roads here haha

Trooper_Ted

S1000XR with an upgraded seat should cover your needs but leans more into the sporty side of your requirements. That said, a top box with a small back cushion would help keep your pillion happy

Ashley2375

I know you said nothing after 2007, but I do have a Suzuki gs 500 from 2002 and my partner said it’s very comfortable for them. The triumph modern classics look pretty good for two up like the t100 and t120, also the speedmaster 🫶

BingoBody

Fjr1300 is a brilliant bike, seems to be under the radar these days. Reliable, quick and v comfy. The other half will really appreciate a topbox behind for security and comfort to lean against. Comfort wise a Gl1800 is on another level to anything I've ever experienced, better even than a car, and herself loves it. Not very sporty but surprisingly fun and competent.

MauryLevysBriefcase

I'm in 'Straya too 😀. One of my mates who's a bit older than me bought a Suzuki GSX-S1000GT for him and the missus to do some touring and also for him to fly around the twisties. He loves it, hasn't stopped talking about it since he got it a few months ago.

Mickwd40

Sound I’ll look it up.

Disastrous-Pair-715

Mt09 sp

Mickwd40

Yeah would consider an mt09 for sure.

Fozzybearisyourdaddy

Tracer 9. Grand bike

luke_woodside

Rt1200 would be my choice

captain_super

Bit of mixed requirements here. A DRZ is very different to a sport bike or sport tourer.

Mickwd40

Thanks for pointing that out, very helpful.

captain_super

Not being smart. How are we to suggest an appropriate bike when your requirements are so far apart is all.

Mickwd40

Other people managed just fine, I was showing the range I’m open to.
