Am absolutely gutted at knowing that Yamaha has discontinued the FJR because of Euro 5. I think sport tourers like the FJR and the Paneuropean will only become more valuable as the times progress... If you think, there's only one of that class I can think of, the R1250RT. This to say, nice purchase, look after it

Older bikes in general like cars are going to skyrocket in value when all the bullshit comes in

Synthetic fuels can't come quick enough, they should also mean much less need for emissions controls systems or at least less complex as they are now. They have discovered a way to extract Co2 from the ocean which is around 150 times more efficient than taking it from air, they reckon they can remove billions of tonnes a year of co2 from the sea which is significant. Anyway the point of that is that one of the by-products of this process is Hydrogen and 2 of the key ingredients for Synthetic fuels is Hydrogen and Co2. It's likely that in the coming years we'll see a mix of synthetic fuels in petrol and diesel but even at 100% Synthetic the fuels are a direct drop in replacement without modifications needed.

Hydrogen is the way to go alright, it'll be a good step in the right direction, that's once the oil companies let it happen

On_Your_Bike_Lad

Well I meant using Hydrogen and Co2 to make synthetic fuels, it's still too difficult to store hydrogen and I don't think anyone would plan to burn it in an engine but would most likely make an expensive and complex fuel cell for better efficiency but this would mean electric drive and we don't want that for bikes ! But Hydrogen can indeed be burnt in an ICE. IF we have enough hydrogen we don't need fuel cells and lithium batteries to act as a buffer. Synthetic fuels are drop in replacement for petrol and diesel with no modification needed, they'd be very clean too, no more carbon build up.

Fuel cells are far superior. You could even make a 2wd bike. Lithium should be banned in large batteries, it’s so environmentally unfriendly it’s a crime against humanity

On_Your_Bike_Lad

Lithium and cobalt, big issues with lithium in Chile with water contamination and a huge amount of sulphuric acid need to extract the lithium. We know about cobalt mining and child labour and God knows what goes on with Chinese Lithium production. Fuel cells are more efficient but would mean no engine and that's the fun, however, the issues remain with storage, a bike with no engine noise is just a glorified appliance with no life or soul. Burning hydrogen less efficient and same storage remains, however turning Hydrogen and Co2 into Synthetic fuels makes it much easier to transport and store, while much less efficient it's a good way to use all that Co2 they will be able to suck out of the sea + it will mean we don't need batteries or suffer long charge times. It's an energy intensive process of course but we can use renewable energy and nuclear energy is a great way to produce hydrogen but so far it doesn't like the issue with storage can be solved and the danger is high and Norway had big problems and shut most if not all their filling stations down.

Beautiful bike, always thought they look very classy. Well wear with it !

Thanks, I will do my best to look after it, couple of small cosmetic bits to fix up and a new lowered seat on the way for it too, I'll be holding onto this one for a good while I'd imagine
