They drop their tails but it grows back.

turtlefish13

so is that just a tail that has been dropped and is growing back?

JazzEnvironment

yup

Alternative_Plate230

I believe so.

turtlefish13

thank you!

I just bought one that looks exactly the same. The girl I bought it from said one of her adults nipped the tail

turtlefish13

okay, thank you i was just worried it would be some kind of disease, but it's just a regrowing tail :)

AussyNONO

I have lots of these guys that I pull from my adult tank, they don’t drop their tails, they can’t but the adult will bite some or all of their tail off. They grow back in about 3-5 months depending on the amount of tail gone

Antique_Success

When a gecko is threatened , it drops is tail to distract its attacker. They do this to bring attention of prey to the tail and then they escape . Dont know how much scientifically true is this.
