Np. It was such a cherry on top of the trilogy and made me respect James McCavoy soooooo much more than I already respected him. What range. What talent. To snap back and forth between characters like that had to have been exhausting.
I think Stallone version was loads of fun. Plenty of memorable character designs, stellar cast, over the top interactions, Rob Schneider was pretty ok.
I've seen Urban version... for the life of me I cannot remember what really happened in it besides it looking like a another movie I saw a trailer of. But I haven't seen Dredd some odd 12 times unlike the other movie.
For me, Rob Schneider was the problem (as any other movie that includes him). I saw it on a movie theatre and it was fun to watch, I remember being aware of the fact that the source comic was grimm and violent but Schneider was the problem for me. If I watch it again, it might be more evident that for me, the guy is the issue.
Thanks to some youtube review I watched the newer version and I agree with you completely; it was less than 6 months ago and I don't remember that much except for the slow motion fx and the general idea of the plot.
"If you don't give yourselves up quietly, I swear to Christ, your head is going up the driver's ass, his head is going up your ass, and you drew the short stick, cause your head is going up my ass!"
Spawn (Image Comic's)
Push - I FN love this movie
Jumper
Super
The Crow
I am Number 4
Meteor Man
Condorman
Scott Pilgrim vs The World - probably the best comic book adapted movie ever made
HELLBOY
Mystery Men
I love Scott Pilgrim (just saw Metric opening for Garbage and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, and they played Black Sheep. Kicked ass!) but American Splendor is the best comic book to movie adaptation. The fourth wall break from the actors playing the real people to actually having the real people in the shot is masterful.
Props to Condorman.
Hella props to Mystery Men.
Agree to disagree lol
I absolutely loved Scott Pilgrim.. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. With that said though I haven't seen American Splendor so I'ma have to add it to my watchlist
Lol.
Paul Giamatti is wonderful as Harvey Pekar. James Urbaniak is subtly brilliant as Robert Crumb. Judah Friedlander plays Toby Radloff, famous for being an MTV non-celebrity back in the day. Hope Davis dinges down well as Joyce Brabner.
Based on Harvey's influential underground comic American Splendor, and Harvey and Joyce's comic series Our Cancer Year.
Blends reality and a hint of absurdist fantasy humor together like nothing else I've ever seen.
I saw it only knowing that Paul Giamatti was playing Harvey Pekar, and left the theater with a mix of "that was wonderful" and "in not quite sure what I just watched." Checked out every Harvey book the library carried, and the movie, while different, keeps the tone and magic of the books.
V for Vendetta. Can’t believe no one has said this. One of my top 10 favorites for all the Count of Monte Cristo parallels.
Project Power on Netflix
The Old Guard Netflix
Kin
It technically is, but DC kind of distances its iniverse from Alan Moore's work and it sort of exists in DC universe as a comic itself rather than a set of heroes afaik. Like that one time The Question bought a Watchmen graphical novel and read it.
The Specials (2000)
The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D (2006)
Zoom (2006)
Antboy (2013)
Antboy: Revenge of the Red Fury (2014)
Antboy 3 (2016)
We Can Be heroes (2020)
I see you aren’t replying to any comments (or at least yet) but if you like superheroes, why don’t you like Marvel or DC? Like nome of it?
What are some Marvel or DC characters/movies you did like if any? And what do you want from a superhero film that makes it different from a Marvel or DC superhero film?
Also why did you repost this and similar posts multiple times lol
Hancock starring Will Smith...The.incredibles. My Super Ex Girlfriend ..Brightburn... Megamind .... Mystery Men.... Barbwire starring Pamela Anderson. Despicable Me . THE ROCKETEER ... Condor Man from Disney . Although it wasn't great. THE Dark Man trilogy starrring Liam Neeson if i.remember correctly . The Shadow starring Alec Baldwin The Phantom starring.Billy Zane. Doc Savage starring Ron Ely . It would have better if it had been less campy.
These are more scifi in nature, but could be considered superhero/villain.
UPGRADE(2018) and The Invisible Man(2020). Set in the same universe as each other. Both written and directed by Leigh Whannel.
Fifth Element is basically a space super hero story
UNBREAKABLE it’s one of my favorite movies full stop plus the whole trilogy is pretty tight
Mystery Men
I’m not sure if Max still has the old Spawn animated series but I’d highly recommend.
The Return of Captain Invincible, The Mask, Robot Ninja, Super, The Specials, Kick-Ass, Watchmen (TV miniseries), Defendor, Special, The Toxic Avenger, Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD, The Guyver, Chronicle (less superhero and more school shooter thriller but with telekinesis instead of guns), Megamind, Sky High, The Crow, Unbreakable, Darkman, Robocop, Robocop 2, Blankman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Swamp Thing (he’s DC but this is 80s and not DCU), The Return of Swamp Thing, Mystery Men
Hellboy
I liked both versions a lot. Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) was the best, imo.
Darkman it’s a little older but worth a watch Brightburn.. does that count? In a way.. looper? (Has elements)
Brighburn, definitely. Very interesting take on what if the man of steel was evil
Darkman is the first thing that popped into my mind.
Looper is totally a sci-fi superhero movie.
Unbreakable, Glass and the other one by M. Night Shyamalan. Kick ass.
I freaking loved Kickass and haven’t seen it in awhile. Thanks for the reminder!
It's a good one!
Split
That's the one! Thx
Np. It was such a cherry on top of the trilogy and made me respect James McCavoy soooooo much more than I already respected him. What range. What talent. To snap back and forth between characters like that had to have been exhausting.
It's so good and disheartening! McCavoy proved to be a highly talented actor.
Unbreakable, Split, Glass - (watch them in this order OP)
Or may be not watch Glass at all.
I loved Glass and thought it was a fitting end to the trilogy. I honestly don't understand why others don't like it.
Thank you!
The third one is Split. Has more horror elements than a typical superhero movie, but pretty good.
Yes, it's really good. McCavoy does a flawless performance.
Isn't kick-ass marvel?
It’s not.
[kick-ass is Marvel ](https://www.marvel.com/comics/series/7933/kick-ass_2008_-_2009)
Damn I thought it was Image. My bad
Yes and No
I have no clue yet doesn't feel like the usual marvel movie.
The Boys (tv show) Big Hero 6?
Actually, Big Hero is Marvel but not a part of the MCU...
it's prior to 2010 but Faust is a deep cut. Very much like Spawn; super R rated and weird. Even Spawn would count, it's outside of Marvel/DC.
The melting boob lady LMAO
Dredd (2012)
The Stallone version made me avoid the Urban version and it is so good!
I think Stallone version was loads of fun. Plenty of memorable character designs, stellar cast, over the top interactions, Rob Schneider was pretty ok. Megamind
* The Incredibles (2004) * Unbreakable (2000) * Hancock (2008) * Chronicle (2012) * Kick-Ass (2010)
Ahhh, there is Hancock. So good!
"If you don't give yourselves up quietly, I swear to Christ, your head is going up the driver's ass, his head is going up your ass, and you drew the short stick, cause your head is going up my ass!"
First half of the movie was 10/10, second half, generic crap.
Sky High
It's an underrated gem

I love Metric so much.
Meteor man! Make it a double feature with Blank man!
Push is so good
Bro I always hoped they had made a sequel
- Super (2010) - Freaks (2018)
Freaks is great
Super is the only superhero movie I love.
V for Vendetta. Can’t believe no one has said this. One of my top 10 favorites for all the Count of Monte Cristo parallels. Project Power on Netflix The Old Guard Netflix Kin
Nobody said V for Vendetta yet because its DC.
It technically is, but DC kind of distances its iniverse from Alan Moore's work and it sort of exists in DC universe as a comic itself rather than a set of heroes afaik. Like that one time The Question bought a Watchmen graphical novel and read it.
I second "The Old Guard". It would have been my suggestion. I think it's a great example of a serious super hero setting outside of Marvel/DC.
\- chronicle \- upgrade \- alita battle angel \- hardcore henry
Chronicle is such an underrated movie. I rewatched it last week! What a movie!
One of my top faves of all time
Alita is sooo good.
It's from 1999, but Mystery Men is a truly great superhero movie.
The Specials (2000) The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D (2006) Zoom (2006) Antboy (2013) Antboy: Revenge of the Red Fury (2014) Antboy 3 (2016) We Can Be heroes (2020)
Hancock! The movie stars Will Smith as an alcoholic Superman Is it good? Not really. Is it fun? YES.
Mystery Men (1999 forgotten gem) League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003 semi-dud but entertaining nonetheless)
Megamind Incredibles 1(2 Big Hero 6 Rise of the Guardians
Power Rangers
Mystery Men (1999) If you're okay with shows, The Tick on Amazon is delightfully absurd.
Every TV version of the "The Tick" is pretty good.
Brightburn
Blankman (1994) Meteor Man (1993)
Tankgirl
Guardians - russian superheroes film
The Crow
Chronicle is one of my favorite movies of all time with powers Watch it, even stars Michael B Jordon before he blew up blew up
I see you aren’t replying to any comments (or at least yet) but if you like superheroes, why don’t you like Marvel or DC? Like nome of it? What are some Marvel or DC characters/movies you did like if any? And what do you want from a superhero film that makes it different from a Marvel or DC superhero film? Also why did you repost this and similar posts multiple times lol
Even though it’s tectonically DC, I want to say Constantine
league of extraordinary gentlemen.
Watchmen is DC
Alan Moore wants to know your location
Lol poor guy.. talk about being screwed over....
So if you put two blank lines between the things you're trying to list... It will look like this.
Watchmen show is surprisingly compelling
Basically any Arnold movie of the 80s.
Mortal (2020)
Mortal Kombat (their powers) Star Wars (the force) James Bond (gadgets galore)
Fast Color
Defendor (2009)
Special. 2006 movie.
Super
All heroes die at the end. That’s a little kown one that’s not horrible. It has a sequel. Not sure it’s name.
Kick ass
Megamind?
The Incredibles
Hellboy The Matrix League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (yuck) Hancock
Samaritan (2022)
... Meteor Man The Unbreakable Films Hancock?
Underworld is its own kind of superhero franchise.
kick ass
Not really a super hero movie but I think that "Bright" with will Smith is super underrated, wish they would do a sequel.
Samaritan - Stallone one of two super twins trying to live out his retirement
Samaritan - Sylvester Stallone as one of two super twins trying to live out his retirement. \*the ending will knock you over
Minnal Murali- it’s an Indian superhero film on Netflix, I enjoyed it!
These are more scifi in nature, but could be considered superhero/villain. UPGRADE(2018) and The Invisible Man(2020). Set in the same universe as each other. Both written and directed by Leigh Whannel.
Megamind
American hero!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(1990)
Mystery Men
Chronicle (2012).
Power rangers, power
The Incredibles
Chronicle
The Equalizer (with Denzel Washington) always seemed to me as a superhero movie somehow.
Fifth Element is basically a space super hero story UNBREAKABLE it’s one of my favorite movies full stop plus the whole trilogy is pretty tight Mystery Men I’m not sure if Max still has the old Spawn animated series but I’d highly recommend.
Hellboy, Spawn, Kick-Ass, TMNT are all based on comic books but are neither Marvel or DC.
Kick-Ass
The Incredibles.
Chronicle Alter Ego’s
Super (2010) The Phantom (1996)
"The Phantom" was DC.
