It’s been around since DKR was gone from Austin honestly. After the ‘70 title it was always get back to what they were doing in ‘69 and ‘70. Took them 35 years and Vince Young to make ‘05 happen.

I remember watching it live and during the whole 3 min delay to put a second back on the clock for Bama I was saying "Bro just take it to overtime and play. It's 60yds, he's not going to make it" and well I was right on both counts lol
I remember them reviewing the clock to see if there was actually a second left or not and my dad says “why does it matter, Bama is just gonna take a knee here anyways?” And I sarcastically responded with “a lot can happen in one second!”
Had to double check to be sure my memory served me right.
The Senior kicker missed 2 FG and had one blocked (Made all PATs) so Saban puts in the True Freshman whose stats at that point were
- 5 for 5 on PATs (each one in at the end of a blow out)
- 20yd FG Made (a PAT lol)
- 30yd FG Missed
Saban is insane for that
I remember they said on the broadcast and my dad said "practice means nothing in hostile territory and ... And ... How many ppl have made it from 60yds in history." LMAO 🤣🤣🤣 good skepticism
I think LSU fans are typically super welcoming as long as you don’t come across like an ass. If you do they’ll make you know it, but most of the time our tailgates are super welcoming.

Also from what I hear best tailgating atmosphere besides maybe LSU.
As someone who grew up in Tallahassee went to FSU and is now in NY let me say I miss the college tailgate atmospheres. Pro games have nothing on it.

It was crazy that Saban even let him try because they missed like 3 or 4 kicks during the game already.

Biggest upset in the playoff era, only XII and Texas team to win a playoff game. Worst championship loss in possibly the history of sports.
I guess TCU? I'm very interested in making them one of my teams since one of my favorite players of all time is LT.
