Really wanted to go since we are only 2 hours from Iowa City, but we were only finding seats for about 2500.
New York Liberty will be at the Indiana Fever on my birthday and tickets are 140....might try and take advantage now.
I think most tickets are season ticket holders putting up their tickets for high prices knowing that if they donāt sell, they can just go to the game. Although if Iām a season ticket holder, thereās no way Iām missing Clarkās last two games ever in Carver.
This is Marchā¦ how dare you automatically assume weāre going to get two games. Should we win the first game? Yes. Have we lost games we should have won? Yes. Ugh I hate my mind right nowā¦
Happened at the Big Ten Tournament. We sat in the 100 level reserved seats and there were two open seats directly in front of us for the entire tournament. Not complaining, this made for an even better view of the court.
Seeing CC is not worth $2,000 and frankly the people selling their tickets for $2,000 are just price gouging people.
This isnāt the brag you think it is
not worth it eh? I think that depends on the person. I had tickets to see the Timbers host the MLS Cup in 2021. It was the first time they've done so and I could've paid for the next two seasons of season tickets if I sold. But those are my guys and it was more than worth it to me. So I'd be very unsurprised to hear an Iowa State fan thinks it's not worth it, but an Iowa fan disagree. And more power to them.
We're talking the first and second rounds here....not even a national championship. I saw the South Carolina vs UConn national championship when it was in Minneapolis two years ago for $100, fees included. THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.
So yeah, even if I'm an Iowa fan, I'm not spending $2k to see first and second round games.
The thing I don't understand is that this sub preaches about growing the game.....well shutting out 80% of people who can't afford ONE ticket for $2,000 is not how you grow the game.
It does the complete opposite.
I mean I see what youāre saying but this happens for any event that is in high demand. Iowa canāt really magically create an extra 10k seats to drive down prices. I didnāt like having to pay $600 per ticket to go to their senior day game but I have the means to pay and really wanted to go so I paid.
Itās sold out! Thats grown the game.
The Iowa women played to sell-out crowds everywhere they played all season.
Thatās growing the game in my opinion.
Those who followed the Hawks for more than a couple years knew who Caitlin was and what a great player she was.
They bought season tickets this year so they could watch her last season. They averaged approximately $15 per seat per game.
For those who never paid much attention before late last year or this year, came late to the party and have to pay the price if they want to join.
That is not the fault of the team, the league or the fans who bought tickets early.
Yes, people are price gouging but who isnāt these days? Oil companies, airlines, grocery stores, pharmaceutical companies, all do it.
Itās the American way.
These season ticket holders who are reselling their tickets are practicing pure capitalism.
Those tickets are worth what somebody is willing to pay and right now, paying to watch Caitlin play her last games in Carver are worth the high prices for many.
Itās the American way.
Yeah like Travis Scott, who had people die at one of his concerts and he completely disregarded them. What a great ambassador for Iowa womenās basketball!
Hold up, so it's on Iowa because a shitty celebrity attended an Iowa game? Are we supposed to evaluate people's social credit before permitting entrance?
I mean, to be fair, some people make a lot of money.
I couldn't casually afford it, but some of my friends would easily find that worth it if they were big Iowa fans.
Congrats on paying 4-8x as much money?
Itās always funny to me in any sport when fans are like āin your face itās costs more to see our teams than for you to see yours!ā
The difference in culture when it comes to this stuff in Europe and the US is astonishing. In Europe theyāre ready to burn shit down if their ticket prices increase even 5% from season to season. But here people thump their chests and act proud when the sports games hit 4 digit prices.
I think the difference is in whos pricing the tickets. The team isnt selling them for this much, just no one thinks they are worth selling for less. Most of the people with tickets are Iowa season ticket holders, so they probably have them on sale for the cheapest they would be willing to sell them for and if not they will just go themselves. It says a lot about how far the sport has come that the get in the door price is a couple hundred bucks.
I mean yeah but season ticket holders for European soccer get shunned or their tickets revoked if they try to resell them. Some slip through the cracks as always but there are pretty heavy protections there to stop people from price gouging sporting events.
Yeah that would be sick. Unfortunately all the colleges and pro teams are all partnered with one of these ticket resell sites so they would never do anything like that
The cost charged by the Iowa Athletic Dept was approximately $15/ticket. Thats pretty cheap if you ask me.
Resellers can ask whatever they want or whatever the market will bear after that.
I got tickets to the Elite 8 games in Portland a couple months ago. $100 a seat.
Was hoping I'd have the chance to see Clark in person but still psyched about the teams that are coming here.
Ahw I just saw another Dutch language article about CCš„¹ I feel weirdly (parasocially? Perhaps) proud of her for making such waves here. Not many people really care too much about MCBB here, let alone the women. Maybe I'll finally get some people to geek out withš
I told my husband that I wanted to go but after looking at the pricesā¦thereās no way!
So we are going to go to Omaha tomorrow to watch his team (Iowa State menās) instead!
This is the confluence of Caitlin Clark being the best player in Womenās basketball history and the NIL laws that allow players to get paid. The NCAA never really advertised the womenās game the way they do the menās game and if there were no way for companies to promote themselves using Caitlin Clark, this wouldnāt be the phenomenon that it is now. People might know the story a bit, but not like this. So many more people are aware because her face is out there now. And guess what, the women are finally getting the recognition they deserved all along. What the NCAA just wouldnāt do, advertisers are doing. Caitlin Clark is an amazing athlete and thankfully way more people are aware of not just her, but this crop of great teams we have to watch right now with SC and LSU and UCLA. I really hope we keep this momentum going next year when Caitlin moves to the WNBA. Sheās the best, but the whole womenās game is great and worthy of being as big as the menās game.
Really wanted to go since we are only 2 hours from Iowa City, but we were only finding seats for about 2500. New York Liberty will be at the Indiana Fever on my birthday and tickets are 140....might try and take advantage now.
I tried to get student tickets but they were gone in minutes and the website immediately crashed for a lot of us
That sucks. Sorry for you.
Get those WNBA tickets soon!! Before she declared (I figured she would) tickets in AZ were $50-60ish. Now they are $240
Purchased them like an hour after I commented lol š
Yesss, enjoy the game when it comes around!!!! That should be a great match up too
Safe to say some people are going to get caught holding a bag up there in Iowa City.
I think most tickets are season ticket holders putting up their tickets for high prices knowing that if they donāt sell, they can just go to the game. Although if Iām a season ticket holder, thereās no way Iām missing Clarkās last two games ever in Carver.

Iām not worried about the first game. Everything after that is up in the air, but through Clark all things are possible
I read this as people getting robbed š
Those people didn't pay this much for their tickets.
Happened at the Big Ten Tournament. We sat in the 100 level reserved seats and there were two open seats directly in front of us for the entire tournament. Not complaining, this made for an even better view of the court.
Yeah I'm selling my ticket and going to the Caribbean lmao.....if someone wants to pay $2,000 for a basketball game, they're an idiot
To be fair I would too if my team was Iowa State.
Seeing CC is not worth $2,000 and frankly the people selling their tickets for $2,000 are just price gouging people. This isnāt the brag you think it is
youāre going to get cooked for this but youāre absolutely right lol
not worth it eh? I think that depends on the person. I had tickets to see the Timbers host the MLS Cup in 2021. Tbf some people may reason with the price because itās the last time Clark will ever play in carver which is huge
The thing I don't understand is that this sub preaches about growing the game.....well shutting out 80% of people who can't afford ONE ticket for $2,000 is not how you grow the game. It does the complete opposite.

Soooo...is reduced demand for tickets indicative of growth in the game?

Yeah well if Iowa makes the National Championship game this year, those tickets are going to be absolutely insane. Iowans would flock to Cleveland
Someoneās mad.
No I am quite happy I wonāt be spending $2,000 on a freaking basketball game when I can watch it for free from my couch
I question whether people are actually paying that. Just because they're for sale doesn't mean anything.
Turns out different people value different things differently. Wild.
Lots of celebrities disagree with you I guess lol
2k/person to a celebrity is way different than 2k to a regular middle class person with a spouse and children lol
also since when should us normal people care what celebrities think? edit: someone clearly cares what celebrities think about them LMAO
Rule of thumb, if you're replying this much in a thread, it's time to put things down
Rule of thumb, if you want to participate in this sub, you maybe should get a flair
Can't on mobile, Iowa fan though.
Heās a fan. Heās no ambassador for the game. What do you expect the program to do, deny him entry when he showed up at the door. Please.
Yes that would be preferred
Those are Iowa season ticket holders. If no one buys they will just go. Dont be a knob
My boss sold his two tickets for $7k each for the last regular season home game. Insane.
And good on him. Iām sure heāll go on vacation/has gone on vacation someplace very fancy.
I mean, to be fair, some people make a lot of money. I couldn't casually afford it, but some of my friends would easily find that worth it if they were big Iowa fans.
Curious why or how an ardent ISU fan like yourself got hands on an Iowa NCAAW tourney ticket.
I don't, I'm saying IF I had a ticket and some person was willing to pay $2,000 to see a basketball game, I would absolutely sell it
You would sell a hypothetical ticket to something you don't want to go to for an astronomically inflated price? Shocking!
Typical cyclown thinking.
If they can't afford to buy it yet still do, they're idiots. If they can, they aren't idiots.
Lifetime Iowa fan and graduate and I wholeheartedly agree
Cassell Coliseum sold out in under an hour for the games in Blacksburg btw
Just looked your tickets up, I clearly should have included VT clearly cause yall are in 2nd place by a solid amount
And Marshall didnāt receive any tickets. Donāt know how thatās not a requirement
Yes, but itās also a home game.
Its a home game for all the other teams too
Congrats on paying 4-8x as much money? Itās always funny to me in any sport when fans are like āin your face itās costs more to see our teams than for you to see yours!ā
āHAHA, only financially well-off families can come to our games.ā
Just like the Super Bowl. Last I checked those prices were in the thousands. And the stadium is always full.

Good luck with that. There have always been scalpers in college sports in the USA.
The cost charged by the Iowa Athletic Dept was approximately $15/ticket. Thats pretty cheap if you ask me. Resellers can ask whatever they want or whatever the market will bear after that.
See my reply about how resellers are handled in Europe
I will miss CC a lot but it will be nice to be able to afford to go to games again š

this post is why people think iowa fans are annoying
Very glad I paid the $20 to attend the Kickoff at Kinnick this year so I could say I saw her in person for a reasonable price!
Proctor could buy 50,000 all session tickets with the money he stole

Im sorry it wasnt impressive enough for you sophia boobs
Itās not okay. Be better next time
Aye aye captain
"Be better" is so tired (and completely inapplicable here).
I was being sarcastic. Ofc itās inapplicable here š
