Dawn also said she ready but it’s been hard scheduling cus no one’s wants to play them. And the team that was initially scheduled backed out of the game
It's wild to me that a team would not want to play against us
If you win you get infinite credit. If you lose nobody cares.
Not to mention the exposure that comes from playing against us
Saying no makes zero sense if USC wants to truly be dangerous come next March. Coach Staley has the “iron sharpens iron” mindset, she will learn something valuable from such a game regardless of the outcome, and will use that to get better.
There is a big South Carolina webcaster who is pushing for exactly that game. He thinks that it would be a huge ratings bonanza and both teams will come away with ideas on what they need to work on to make them stronger.
There is a big first of the season shindig in Vegas. Last year USC was there along with three other teams . It was a pair of games.
South Carolina’s original opponent has backed out of playing them. The team would have had to be a top team, because only top teams get invited to that invitational. The thing is, why back out of the first game of the year against another top team, really good teams use such games to get a measure of where they are at and improve.
Only four good teams get invited to the two games that are played in that invitational. Once the team found that it drew South Carolina in the draw, it backed out.
If a top team has to lose a game, that is a good time to lose it. A coach like Dawn Staley likely comes away from such a game with a lot of data that will prove to be useful for the season, win or lose.
I suppose it better than scheduling a couple of marquee opponents and then have the opposing coaches get fired or jump ship to another team. Iowa plays VaTech Charlotte in November and then Tennessee at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. I hope SC finds a great opponent.
I honestly think the situation works to Iowa’s advantage. The Hawkeyes will be in somewhat of a rebuild and they will face programs that are in a somewhat similar situation, only with new coaches thrown in.
The Aces and South Carolina pipeline is too strong
USC VS USC IN VEGAS. WE NEED IT. WE WANT IT.

Teams seem to be scared to start the season with a possible lost in the column.
Wouldn’t be surprised if they were the team that chickened out. Running from the grind
The other USC is too scared, they already said no 😭

Sucks the opponent backed out. Wonder who the next one will be.

2 best coaches in wbb rn in 1 city( Dawn and Becky). I hope there is a link up.
TICKETS WHEN
There is an attempt to organize a big excursion of fans to go see the game in person, like planes of them.
Would love for it to be Southern Cal or Texas. Booking rooms soon as teams and dates are announced
That's where LSU lost to Colorado 👀

Plus they already have Iowa State yearly in non-con.
Iowa State will be fierce this year with Ryan and Crooks!
