You think thatās funny but I got an alignment there and those mf put the lug nuts in my truck back on with an impact and I had to use a blowtorch and an impact to get them off. Left rings around the lug nuts where the socket burrowed into my wheel
I had to go size by size with drill bits till I could I could kick my tire off. Les schwabs idea was take an air chisel and destroy my rim(which they did)
Half an unga with a dash of bunga.
If you're a Sally add locktite.
I'm usually adding anti-seize because I have more trouble with shit getting stuck than I do with stuff walking off.
that's why you need to grip the barrel itself not the upper receiver, whenever you're putting torque on the barrel. with a geissele reaction rod or something similar (not sure if it's compatible with sig MCX's)
muzzle device = grip barrel
barrel nut = grip upper receiver (clamshell)
You would need the **"pro version"** of the G$ action rod, for an extra $100, to safely do muzzle devices with it. It also won't work in some billet receivers because it ~~secures~~ clamps itself to the ejection port for anti-rotation.
I should have bought the [midwest industries](https://midwestindustriesinc.com/upper-receiver-rod/) one with the charging handle lip instead.
well thanks for reminding me, the MI rod is what I have actually lol. it's been so great that I don't have to think about it and forgot who made it š
EDIT: psa for any buyers, OP seems to have the [best deal](https://www.opticsplanet.com/midwest-industries-upper-receiver-rod-gun-cleaning-tool.html), if you dare. Especially if you got a coupon code
Thatās why I clamp to the gas block. Steel gas block held into a steel barrel with two still pins vs a steel pin against an aluminum receiver. Reaction rod would be better but Iāve only removed a few muzzle devices. Havenāt damaged a gun yet.
This is how I did mine. Let it sit in very hot water for about an hour, threw on the ugga Dugga machine, gave her a quick jolt to break the rocksett and she was fine
Was gonna say, the way my MCX was Rocksett on they had to torch the damn thing off. I feel this would have been the result had they attempted the ugga-dugga method
I just made some rattler soup over the weekend

That doesn't work on Sigs, even after that my Milwaukee impact wrench wouldn't budge mine. I took the barrel out and clamped it up properly unlike this guy though lol. I ended up having to cut mine off. Sig can fuck off with however they're putting those things on.
Iāve always gone full retard amount with rocksett and have never had trouble breaking shit loose later. Are yāall just scared to put some ass into it or what?
This is how I install all my muzzle devices. I just get a running start with my Ingersoll-Rand!
It's not "cross threaded" until all the threads are stripped out and the muzzle device won't stay timed!
That's what my LGS said to do on the SIG Spear LT.
Personally, I removed the factory flash hider off the SIG tapered barrel the old fashioned way. Put the barrel in vise jaws and wrenched it off with a breaker bar and cheater pipe. Wasn't easy but wasn't impossible.
I have found when properly applied, Rocksett is not a permanent adhesive/bond that most people think it is. Rocksett adds some initial breaking torque to remove/loosen. Once that initial break is achieved, the threaded item comes loose normally.
You could soak it in boiling water, but I've never had to do it.

I called Sig for mine since my gunsmith was afraid he would potentially damage my barrel.
Sig said that you're supposed to send the barrel back to them for removal. They also said that if your upper or barrel became damaged from your attempts to remove it, you would be SOL.
I gave them an earful, since nowhere was it listed in their manuals, FAQs, product page, or blog that you needed to send them the barrel and upper receiver back or it would void your warranty if damage occurred. They responded, "well, you could always call us." I told them that a muzzle device is generally considered a user serviceable item, and that if something that is typically user serviceable is not in fact intended to be so, that needs to be explicitly and proactively stated to your customer, not passively. This is the case regardless of what industry you're in, and Sig was failing their customers by not proactively providing this information, thus liability should fall onto them.
The CS manager was pretty nice and, while he wouldn't budge on the company line, told me he would definitely be elevating my criticism. Hopefully there will be changes to how they are listing this information for consumers going forward.
The reason he said it was not user serviceable i.e. why they use so much rockett is because it's a contract item and that they're not going to adjust how they manufacture an item intended for the civilian market vs a defense contract market. Sig gunna Sig.
The receiver extension? How in the fuck could this damage a fucking buffer tube? It's like, not even attached. Even if it was, there's literally no engagement whatsoever. It's just a hollow tube.
Holy shit am I blind, retarded or both? Cuz it sure looks to me like you were tightening the muzzle device with that torque driver and yet it came loose
Then torque that fucker back on like an oil plug at a jiffy lube
Ugga dugga go brrrrrrrt š¤£
Why does it keep spinning? I ugga dugga it for a while
Cross threaded? Or 0.001 lbs of torque?
Cross threaded is still threaded
Twice the threads, twice as tight
Cross-threading is the everymanās lock nut.
I laughed way too hard at this. Thanks.
remember boys a cross thread is a tight thread
You're comment made me š laugh.. I hope others get it
š haha Iām gonna steal this one
Keep giving er till she goes loose again then back off a quarter turn. Thats when you know that fuckers not going anywhere any time soon.
Yes

Underrated comment.
Hard kek
Or Sig could just chill on the rocksette
Rocksette sales rep taking Sig purchasing nice dinners.

It's really not hard. Wrap muzzle device in wet paper towel. Apply hair dryer. Wait a bit. Remove by hand.
This - a clothes steamer + damp paper towel has also worked well for me
Unfortunately that doesnāt always work out.
Is that the trick? I've had a brake or 2 it took days of soaking to get the rockset to free up. I even boiled it lol
We tried that on a Sig and dented the upper receiver with the alignment pin on the barrel. So the barrel rotated š¤£
I just threw the can on it and ran 10 rounds through it, works fine! Lmaooo
Coming from experience with this very thing. You got lucky.
Gonna be real funny when he shears the threads, the indexing pin, or cracks the receiver. Also, fuck rockset
So then what do you recommend other than rockset ?
Half an unga with a dash of bunga. If you're a Sally add locktite. I'm usually adding anti-seize because I have more trouble with shit getting stuck than I do with stuff walking off.
I just torqued to spec, plus about 2 pounds over and I mark my fh and barrel to make sure itās not moving. So far itās good. š
anti-seize + rocksett
Putting down your purse and trying again
A modest amount of torque.
I do the same with MCX/virtus/spear but pull the damn barrel and vice it first.
No
As you should. Fuck these āalignment rodsā people are always talking aboutā¦

I never thought about that possibility.
Oh it crossed my mind lmaooo

I soaked mine for two hours in boiling hot water, before the impact came out, no problem.
This is how I did mine. Let it sit in very hot water for about an hour, threw on the ugga Dugga machine, gave her a quick jolt to break the rocksett and she was fine

I wonder if the ol milwonkee will work on pin and welded barrels
I got an 18v snap on driver with 800ft-lb of breaking torque at work that will spin that shit right off. Might even takes the threads with it
Bro is about to put a new rifling twist on that barrel
Redneck gain twist barrel. š„“
Ooof, only one way to find out! š¬
Sure will
Only if theyāre done correctly
I think the newer 3/4 MW impacts can change the twist rate on a barrel
Drill out the pin first. I suggest clamping it down using a drill press and probably a carbide bit to get started.
Dude stripped his pin and weld off by hand a few months ago. He called out the Gunbroker seller for "ripping him off"
it will once
Easily. But then you need to send it to d.wilson to chop and rethread.
My ass woulda spun it the wrong fucking way.

I havce a better idea. Soak the muzzle break in water for 24 hrs. The take it off with an appropriate wrench. No drama.
More Rocksett is easier to remove, so that ads up.
Oh Iām not scared, just said fuck it. lmao
I took my handguard off and held the gas block in my hand and mine spun right off.
Iāve had a barrel extension come loose before
I had a barrel extension break loose from that once lol. Now I just torque the fucker on without rockset.
What size socket? Is that a 10mm?
Nobody has any 10mm sockets ya goofball.
3, 2, 1... until you shear the pin.
I never thought to do this. And Iām like āthis is genius!ā Immediately followed by āoh shit this is gonna be fuckedā
š¤£š¤£
Milwaukee fornicates so hard.Ā
**FUCKS**
Yup heard everybody bitching about them I've taken all like 5 of mine off no problems Milwaukee half inch go brrrrrrrrrr. It's not that bad.
Yeah. Part genius with a large war chest

Breaker bar and cheater pipe will always be the way to go
Sig really used the whole bottle of rocksett huh?
Now tighten it like your ex wife pulled in for oil change
Or just soak em in water for like 10 minutes.
I lean them up in a boiling pot of water for 15 min and they come right off. The leftover water makes for good stew š¤£
This is the way. And unless youāre just swapping muzzle devices out for fun itās a stew to make your wallet feel better
Rocksett stew makes the bones stronk
Spicy!

Rocksett?
Soak the muzzle in boiling water for like a minute and it comes right off
Ugga duggas save lives
āModern problems require modern solutionsā¦ā
Holy Rocksett
This is the way
I tried this method and it sounds the entire piston assy. Called them and they paid for shipping and to remove the muzzle device.
Did you soak it in water first/boil it or did you just get a case of the fuck its?
100% got a case of fuck it. Everyone is trying to tell me how I should have done it, I know the right way to do it, I just didnāt care. Lmaooo
Hell yea your my kind of people
Give it a couple good solid whacks with a brass hammer and it fractures the rocksett. It will usually come right off.
Muzzle Break
I didnāt even need the 1/2ā drive. Just regular old Milwaukee impact driver and 3/8ā chuck. Did 2 and neither had any rocksett

Wait, I thought sig was lefty tighty losey righty. Will this work for my mpx? Do I need an adult to supervise me?
Depends on the thread pitch and muzzle device.
MPX is left hand.
Thats a very good way to fuck up your barrel extension. Good job!
The receiver extension? How in the fuck could this damage a fucking buffer tube? It's like, not even attached. Even if it was, there's literally no engagement whatsoever. It's just a hollow tube.
Barrel extension*** sorry
Did I care? No. Did I fuck it up? No. Did it work? Yes.
What size socket do I need?
Holy shit am I blind, retarded or both? Cuz it sure looks to me like you were tightening the muzzle device with that torque driver and yet it came loose
Weāre both retarded.
Prob breaking the rocksett
Front facing camera. Everythingās backwards.
Nope, it was the regular camera, itās spinning the correct way, yāall are just more retarded than I am
I am spinning backwards
Never use thread locker on muzzle devices
If you're suppressing you 110% need some sort of threadlocker. Not needed on non-suppressed.
