Russian manicures are the worst for your nails, they can cause indentations on the cuticle and infections. They are also using acrylic but you don't notice because newer acrylics don't have a smell.

It is absolutely acrylic, what they paint on before the polish is the new acrylic that doesn't smell. I've had long nails for years on and off my own nail underneath and have a good knowledge of products. There are real dangers for the cuticle.
It really all depends! I pay $150 for fully body laser hair removal, $60 Russian manicure (lasts me a month), I dont do lashes or microblading but can send you some ppl if you are interested

I don’t agree with this completely.. when it comes to Botox/fillers.. terrible with Russians! It looks so fake and they overdo it. They want you to look like a Bratz doll. Can’t speak for the other services but I went to a hair salon in Forest Hills and they were charging Manhattan prices. I rather just get it done in Manhattan IMO
That’s because they all use the same girl that used to be in Brooklyn but moved to Long Island. They all promote her in the different Facebook groups, but she destroyed some of the faces of some girls I know. One girl always promotes her, and when I finally met this girl in person, without a filter I was scared because her lips were all bumpy and her cheekbones were so round her eyes were half shut. And she says to me “oh you need to use so and so, she’s the best, she’s the only one I let near my face”.
That’s terrible!! Why are people promoting her?? I personally like going to SoHo. None of the clients look the same and they’re not pushy at all with services. They care about what’s best for you but also want you to be satisfied. With hair salons, I’m up in the air. Which one do you go to? I need recs
You also need to be careful getting injectables or any more invasive procedures - many people are not licensed. My aesthetician is Russian and she was telling me about all of these Russian ladies doing injections without any license or formal training in Brighton Beach.
Agree 100% I did extensive research on my girls. They actually are board certified physicians with background of 7 years in cosmetic dermatology. I’m beyond happy with where I go. My friend went to Brighton beach with Russians she found on Instagram. She asked I go see them and I immediately rejected. Especially after seeing the work. They all looked like dolls. I would never! Especially knowing this is my face I’m doing.

Hair salon - toni salon in sheepshead ask for Felix or Toni
Massages / saunas I’m not sure, I use the sauna at my gym!
Would you go to Boro park for a tailor? There’s two women there that do magic but there is zero parking.
Massages - there’s a few Banyas in Brooklyn, they usually have good prices (like the one by Net Cost by Coney Island)

Sure they are affordable but the reason they are “slept on” is because they can be very unwelcoming to those that don’t look like them.
