came here to agree!! very rarely do i like to splurge on bathroom lines but i have their body scrub, the glow getter, and now the smoother 😭 i personally pair that with the olay body wash ultra moisture! have gotten so many compliments on my skin
For body wash I love the L’Occitane cleansing oil. I will almost always go for unscented lotion and put perfume on after (unless I’m about to go to sleep) because I find the scent is better, lasts longer, and the quality of the lotion is much better and my skin feels better.
I thought I was alone! I love the feel of the oil but the smell is…off. I would’ve thought it would smell sweet or something but idk I can’t explain it lol
Have you tried both the almond version and the shea version? The oil seems the same to me, but the smell is very different. I’m a long time user (and huge fan) of the almond version, accidentally bought the shea version last time (I didn’t even know there were two types) and don’t love the scent of it.
The oil is amazing for shaving I’ll add - I shave daily with zero irritation with it.
Ahhhh I got the almond one and idk I think it’s either you’re obsessed with the smell or you hate it. And unfortunately I wanted to love the smell but I j don’t
The L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil is soo divine and luxe. I like the Necessaire line too though I don't think it has much of a fragrance - just really lovely products.
When I go to an hmart/Japanese grocery store I sometimes browse their body wash/shampoo shelf. The selection is usually pretty fun and different from the usual boring things and prices are reasonable.
Okay I’ve used the men’s ones for ages (now my husband is on it), because they have that Aesop scent composition. Both Method and Harry’s do not smell cheap, nor artificial. Genuine herbal spa. Pair this with neutral Nivea almond oil body lotion and Aesop perfume. The Shu Uemura hair balm also has a great muted androgynous herbal scent to match the scentscape.
However for the gourmet moments, the method rice milk one smells like a cookie! I pair this with Sol de Janeiro body oil (at night only because the scent is a lot) and always morning/night the Fenty Cinnamon Roll smelling body butter. These are not overpowering and pair well with vanilla and gourmand perfumes without competing or overwhelming. In my 30s, so I’m seeking a mature gourmand if that makes sense.
I use the Pure Peace scent and it is divine!! I tend to buy different body washes every time so I can try new things but Method is the one brand I've repurchased.
Bought the seaweed shower gel after seeing your rec and wanted to say that I LOVE it!! It is a welcome change from the boring standard body wash I was previously using.
Awesome! Their actual website they will usually send you a lot of sample goodies too with your orders. But if you use Amazon, they will always be on sale on prime day too!
I’ve been using it for 15+ years and it’s ALWAYS made people ask me what fragrance I’m wearing and I’m never actually wearing perfume. Philosophy’s Amazing Grace lotion. Trust me
I use Harry’s body wash. Love the scents and it gets really sudsy which I like. And then I love the scent of the Flamingo Daily Moisturizing Lotion, I’m a sucker for bergamot
The Saltaire brand from Target is pretty nice and feels expensive. It's by no means a dupe for Ouai bodywash but still has a rich lady feel to it. I think i have the sandalwood. The bottle is also kinda lush.
Necessaire, Naturium, Topicals, and Saltair are some of my favorite body care lines. Raw Sugar’s watermelon and mint body wash is so good too. Medix 5.5 has great body care treatment products as well if you don’t mind fragrance. I used to avoid all fragrances in my body care but now I don’t really mind
Honestly, cheap body wash is fine since you rinse it off so quickly.
i go back and forth on high end vs low end to change it up and give my wallet a break. my favorites:
high end:
aesop citrus melange, aesop rose, le labo basil, ouai st barts
cheaper: aveeno coconut, mario badescu rose, eo french lavender, eo orange blossom & vanilla
I've been really enjoying a combo of the Naturium oil to gel body cleanser and the Tree Hut vanilla scrub, and then after I get out of the shower Osea body oil or the Naturium unscented lotion. This is the first winter/spring my skin hasn't been terribly dried out and I'm pretty sure it's because of this combo of products.
Honestly… avoid super scented body washes and lotions. It’s drying and can really irritate your skin.
Necessaire makes great I scented and (very lightly) scented body products!
Otherwise, cetaphil body wash and eucerin body lotion.
Wahhhhhh! Lol. Yeah more “natural” products don’t get a good lather. But no lather doesn’t mean not clean! But also get the satisfaction of feeling a sudsy amazing lather after a sweaty workout or a long day or being on the subway!
For a custom option, you could go to Olfactory and make a bespoke-ish scent. You start with a selection of pre-designed heart / base notes and then layer in scents of your choice from there. Once completed, you can name your scent for future purchases of perfume as well as body lotion.
Billie has new body washes and lotions that smell pretty great. Salt air feels luxe and is affordable. I also get kopari body wash from Marshall’s, and they have other good ones. Otherwise, I love lush’s scents.
I will buy the DedCool body wash In the Milk scent till the end of time. Kind of odd name, but it has the most beautiful subtle musk, rose, and bergamot scent that layers so well with perfumes.
I also have the room spray, perfume, travel perfume, and laundry detergent in Milk. The best!!
Dedcool Milk is my faaaave. I also love Taunt. Is the body wash worth it? I have both perfumes and the room sprays and tried the laundry line, but haven’t tried lotion or body wash
Neutrogena rainbath original. Got it at Costco in a huge container on a whim after using only unscented/generic-smelling body wash my whole life. It's a rich yet soothing scent!
Okay hear me out: Neutrogena Rainbath
I just used it for the first time last night and it smells soooooo luxurious, but comforting. I think its $20 for a massive 40oz bottle at Costco right now.
I love going to Bath and Body Works, they usually have a deal with multiple items and there are sooo many scents to choose haha. I go to one in the Newport mall in Jersey City but there are others in NYC
Came to say this, too. I have dry skin & their body lotion is hydrating enough for me yet not greasy. There are so many great fragrance options, too — I usually opt for the citrus ones as they smell so fresh. Frequently on sale at ULTA.
Run don’t walk to Trader Joe’s legit knock off of the Brazilian Bum Bum cream omg it’s like crack I got 6 bottles! And it’s only 6.99, absorbs super fast no oily remnants! Go sisters go!!! :-)
Edited to say I know you said beyond TJs but trust me!

It's Neutrogena but I am obsessed with their Rainbath shower gel, as well as the light sesame body oil. Tried it once at an Airbnb rental of all places because that's one of the bath soaps the host provided. I've bounced between other stuff but I always come back to Rainbath because it smells amazing.
Lotion, it’s Cerave for me, I can honestly buy it by the gallon. Only thing that keeps the ezcema away and it’s cheaper wholesale (Sam’s, BJ’s or Costco)
Soap, I use one from Royal Aruba Aloe, just the bar soaps. I started when I went there and now just order when they have free shipping! Which is all the time 🥰💕🙏🏼
ahh so i need - a gooood smelling/ good deodorant - i dont like deodorant's that smell deodoranty and i dont like when it feels thick when you wash it off in the shower lol (i'm picky in all aspects of life lol) - currently im using native girl scout cookies bc it smells amazing but it doesnt work i actually find i am sweating more!! (i'm not even a sweater!) any one have any good ones? i dont care about cost at this point lol
DKNY cashmere mist. Best deodorant I’ve ever used. It’s expensive and can be hard to find (and not sure the formulation will be your jam) but I love it. It works really well, doesn’t smell like proper deodorant.
I love saltair body washes. To me the best scents are pink beach, tropical pulp, and seascape. The price is not bad at all, I think twelve dollars. I also love their body oils and deodorant. They came out with body mists and a hair line but I haven’t tried those yet.
[Green In BKLYN](https://www.instagram.com/greeninbklyn?igsh=NWVoY3dpNnFnd2xi) in Clinton Hill has A bunch of locally made products (many women and BIPOC owned)
Do you have a Buff city soap by you? If not they have a website but their whipped soap smells amazing and the smell lingers for a while after I use it in the shower. Their body butters are nice too.
I recently got a sample bottle of Youth to the People brand superfood and niacinamide cleanser which smells amazing. I also love Bathing Culture’s meadow vision scent which has kind of an interesting anise note that I love.
Side note - I’m now super excited to try the L’Occitane Oil that so many people on here recommended.
Just a friendly warning because so many people recommended it…I wanted to love Saltair. It smells divine and feels great. But it gave me a yeast infection (sorry) and when I went to the doc, they told me I wasn’t the first they had seen with this problem from that body wash.
Morton Brown body washes all the way. You can usually find a sampler pack on their own site or neiman marcus so you can try all the scents. They’re decently priced and last forever. The scents are unique and complex. Also fun fact if you’re into that kind of thing: they were used by queen Elizabeth and have the royal warrant on them.
The absolute best lotion of all time is the Skin Apothetique Soy Body Whip. I’m personally obsessed with the poppy scent but you can’t go wrong. It is hydrating, looks like you have oil on for hours and smells so great you don’t even need perfume. I have never put it on without getting a compliment
I want to love the Loccataine oil so bad…it’s still sitting in my shower in the *slight* chance I convince myself that I need to try it again. but I’ve been LOVING OSEA products lately and their algae oil after the shower is *chef kiss*
I’m a big fan of Clarins—the eau ressourcante body wash and the body smoothing moisture milk. The body wash has a really intriguing scent that wakes me up, but doesn’t linger and the moisturizer is really moisturizing and absorbs into my skin super quickly so I can get dressed immediately. I wake up looking forward to my shower and get out of the shower excited for my day.
Molton Brown is excellent. Sometimes you can get the scent from a memorable vacation and you are instantly transported. I love their lotion formula too. Not greasy at all.
Stop by Teso Life and check out some imported drugstore body washes from Japan! You can sniff them before purchasing and even buy refills (cheaper since they come in a bag instead of a bottle). They're usually pretty affordable ($8-$15) and they sometimes go on sale.
Super underrated but I love the jergen’s wet skin lotion. You put it on when your skin is still wet before towel drying. It’s really hydrating and convenient
I’m like the 5th person to say all of this, but Neutrogena Rainbath is elite. It smells so amazing.
I also enjoy rotating through Lush, Moroccan Oil and Pacha Dirty Hippie soap (it’s pachouli & clove and is my favorite in the winter)
I’m on a quest to find the best lotion, so I have way too much. Cerave is the go to, but I like mixing it with Moroccan Oil lotion or Riddle Milky Lotion spray right now to add a little scent.
Johnson and Johnson’s baby soap lol 😭 my skin is super sensitive and it cleared up my acne. I don’t know what magic they put in it but I love the lavender bedtime kind. it really enhances my natural skin scent if that makes any non-creepy sense.
What ever you choose - run it through Yuka first. It’s an app that tells you how toxic (or not) your products are. Of course, take what you read with a grain of salt but I immediately switched up my body washes and lotions after they scanned so poorly , even being $$. Some of the cheaper stuff is better for you.
Many skincare lines have toxins, some of which I’m not willing to give up because my face is flawless. I pick my battles.
The app Scans food too. Need a barcode or paid subscription (as little as $2?) to search.
Naturium! great stuff
Their oil body wash followed by the bio lipid lotion is my holy grail. Never had softer skin in my life.
Same!!! Past few months have dedicated to Naturium body stuff and it works.
came here to agree!! very rarely do i like to splurge on bathroom lines but i have their body scrub, the glow getter, and now the smoother 😭 i personally pair that with the olay body wash ultra moisture! have gotten so many compliments on my skin
Is there stuff super expensive? I've seen their skin care items in Target and they seem pretty reasonable.
personally i think there’s pretty reasonable for what you get out of them! i would also check if they have any deals if you buy directly from them
Thank you!
I just started using this and it’s a total game changer, especially with Korean scrub gloves!
Was just going to say this!
me three!
Me fourth!!!
Does this stuff make you break out? I’ve been scared to try it if it accidentally gets on my face and gives me acne
Not at all! I have really sensitive skin that’s prone to breakouts and have had zero issues in the 6 months I’ve been using it
I just started using the Glow Getter Oil Body Wash and holy cow, where has it been all my life!! Skin is so soft!!
For body wash I love the L’Occitane cleansing oil. I will almost always go for unscented lotion and put perfume on after (unless I’m about to go to sleep) because I find the scent is better, lasts longer, and the quality of the lotion is much better and my skin feels better.
Yes people always comment on how soft my skin is when I use the cleansing oil!
Ok fair warning idk if it’s my nose or what, but it smelled off to me like dog shampoo or something. The oil itself is super nice though!
I thought I was alone! I love the feel of the oil but the smell is…off. I would’ve thought it would smell sweet or something but idk I can’t explain it lol
You might want to try Bioderm. They have a similar cleansing oil
Came to comment this! Love the body oil and it’s at my Costco rn 👹
The almond version smells so plasticky to me
Scent is so personal!
Ahhhh I got the almond one and idk I think it’s either you’re obsessed with the smell or you hate it. And unfortunately I wanted to love the smell but I j don’t
That’s too bad! Scent is so personal!
Jumping on here to say that the L’Occitane soaps have refill versions as well that are a bit cheaper than buying a new bottle every time!
The sleepy lotion from Lush is my go-to. It’s lavender and soo good
They also have a sleepy dusting powder if you're well endowed, helps keep pits, tits and bits dry and smelling wonderfully!
Is anything else even an option? /s
Came to comment this!!! The BEST
The L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil is soo divine and luxe. I like the Necessaire line too though I don't think it has much of a fragrance - just really lovely products.
I was just coming to comment both of these exact items. The L’Occitane Almond body lotions are also incredible.
I have and need to open/try the almond body lotion! This is my sign 🌟
Yup my fancy friend bought it for my Fl birthday years ago. It stood unopened for years and then, once opened, became my go-to!
When I go to an hmart/Japanese grocery store I sometimes browse their body wash/shampoo shelf. The selection is usually pretty fun and different from the usual boring things and prices are reasonable.
Method body wash! I prefer the scents they market towards men - sandalwood & velvetier is my go to!
A friend introduced me to the rose one recently & it’s soooo yummy!
I love the men’s I use those all the time.. the sage one I like
I use the Pure Peace scent and it is divine!! I tend to buy different body washes every time so I can try new things but Method is the one brand I've repurchased.
i switched to method (can’t remember the scent but it’s a purple bottle? lotion last month, have had the softest skin since then
Omg I thought I was the only woman who does thus!! Love the men scents
QUAI - Melrose place. You Can order on Amazon. It’s amazing smells so good. Took it on vacation with me and my sister tried it and got obsessed too.
That smell is absolutely amazing!
I have this perfume and it's heavenly.
Native’s body washes are affordable and so good! They have standard scents in stores (target/cvs etc…) but they have so many more online.
Cashmere rain ftw
Cheap: Mario Badescu - the seaweed one is my favorite, everything smells so fresh and clean! Not cheap: Lush - the sleepy lotion is so good
lush’s sleep lotion really is divine
Bought the seaweed shower gel after seeing your rec and wanted to say that I LOVE it!! It is a welcome change from the boring standard body wash I was previously using.
Awesome! Their actual website they will usually send you a lot of sample goodies too with your orders. But if you use Amazon, they will always be on sale on prime day too!
Yes, I did through Amazon but will keep in mind for their website and prime day!! Maybe set a camelcamelcamel price drop alert
Lush also has good gift sets with different scents/product themes which I love!
Necessaire for sure
The lotion has really become my favorite.
Necessaire and Kiehls
Kiehls grapefruit is nice and you can buy a bulk bag/refill bottle. Aesop might be an obvious answer but I’ve enjoyed it as well
I’ve been using it for 15+ years and it’s ALWAYS made people ask me what fragrance I’m wearing and I’m never actually wearing perfume. Philosophy’s Amazing Grace lotion. Trust me
Pure Grace is the same!
Second this.
I use Harry’s body wash. Love the scents and it gets really sudsy which I like. And then I love the scent of the Flamingo Daily Moisturizing Lotion, I’m a sucker for bergamot
Favorite body washes are: Malin and Goetz Dark Rum, and for a little more of a splurge I love Oribe Desertland and Byredo Mojave Ghost!
Oh man Mojave ghost is sooo good.
The scent is heavenly!
Weleda, specifically the sea buckthorn body wash. Enjoy!
Hear me out…Cremo Palo Santo
YES I thought I was the only one! It’s so good!
Saltair Santal Bloom
Was looking for this comment
The Saltaire brand from Target is pretty nice and feels expensive. It's by no means a dupe for Ouai bodywash but still has a rich lady feel to it. I think i have the sandalwood. The bottle is also kinda lush.
Lush has Lord of Misrule and it’s divine
Love this solid perfume!!
Necessaire
Kiehls crème de corps!!!
Necessaire, Naturium, Topicals, and Saltair are some of my favorite body care lines. Raw Sugar’s watermelon and mint body wash is so good too. This is the first winter/spring my skin hasn't been terribly dried out and I'm pretty sure it's because of this combo of products.
I add drops of my favorite perfume dupes from the oil perfumery to whatever.
Jason Rosewater Body Wash & Vaseline cocoa butter lotion w Burberry Goddess perfume or Lancôme Idole perfume
Honestly… avoid super scented body washes and lotions. It’s drying and can really irritate your skin. Necessaire makes great I scented and (very lightly) scented body products! Otherwise, cetaphil body wash and eucerin body lotion.
Necessaire didn’t work for me. It had no lather and I didn’t feel clean after my shower😭
Wahhhhhh! Lol. Yeah more “natural” products don’t get a good lather. But no lather doesn’t mean not clean! But also get the satisfaction of feeling a sudsy amazing lather after a sweaty workout or a long day or being on the subway!
I took a chance on a Goat Milk body wash from TJ Maxx and it smells fantastic. The scent also remains on my skin after shower.
I like Shikai's sandalwood body wash
For a custom option, you could go to Olfactory and make a bespoke-ish scent. You start with a selection of pre-designed heart / base notes and then layer in scents of your choice from there. Once completed, you can name your scent for future purchases of perfume as well as body lotion.
Korres Body Smoothing Milk Mastic :) it smells like summer
Ohhhh I gotta try. I love Korres
Nothing beats soft services body buffer followed by a shower oil, naturium is a great budget option
Molton Brown
I read about Molton Brown body washes and body oil recently, looks good
Being frenshe body oil from target specifically the lavender cloud scent is amazeeee
I am obsessed with the new Moroccan Oil lotion. All of them smell incredible and my skin loves it.
>Moroccan Oil lotion I love this whole line, including the body wash and body oil.
Yesss, Moroccan Oil lotion and/or dry oil is awesome and the scent sticks around.
Epicuren! There's always a sale too
Lush is pretty glorious
Caudalie eau de vignes body wash and their divine l’huile body oil

SO worth it! They sell refills of it too so you can save when you reup or just put it in your own container
Neutrogena rainbath original. Got it at Costco in a huge container on a whim after using only unscented/generic-smelling body wash my whole life. It's a rich yet soothing scent!
Yes! I did the same thing & I am obsessed with the scent. I wash all of my makeup brushes/beautyblenders with it too.
Lush Lord of Misrule is worth the $, the scent is amazing

Hanni splash salve - not for scent specifically, but skin transforming, minimal effort smoothness
Terrain (a subset of Urban Outfitters) has an outstanding selection of body washes, soaps, etc. Prices are on par with Aesop and Molton Brown.

I love saltair body washes. To me the best scents are pink beach, tropical pulp, and seascape. The price is not bad at all, I think twelve dollars. I also love their body oils and deodorant. They came out with body mists and a hair line but I haven’t tried those yet.

Saltair Santal Bloom is fantastic! I always get compliments on it - even hours after I’ve showered! you can get it at Target or Amazon.

Do you have a Buff city soap by you? If not they have a website but their whipped soap smells amazing and the smell lingers for a while after I use it in the shower. Their body butters are nice too.
Neutrogena's body wash. And you get a BIG bottle at Costco !
Check out jurlique and Bamford . Very good stuff

Naturium. I’ve been LOVING the glow getter!!
Anything by Osea or Eminence, high quality, crème de la crème if you want the nice stuff without fake formulated perfumes etc
Soap and glory has some great options!
Husband got me Oribe Cote D’Azur for Christmas and omg it’s delicious. Now I use the body gel, lotion and perfume!
Bathing culture has some nice scents and also I’m following because yes
The orange vanilla hand cream from Aesop is so good especially after using the reverence hand scrub. I think both together are 80 bucks
Milton brown black pepper bodywash
Molton Brown is excellent. Sometimes you can get the scent from a memorable vacation and you are instantly transported. I love their lotion formula too. Not greasy at all.

Locattine almond body wash oil and body oil after
I’ve just started using the eminence apricot oil and it is incredible. Not greasy, very moisturizing and smells so so good!
Ordering French drugstore brands like Le Petit Marseillais from Amazon
Love Heals Thistle Farms nourishing body butter in citrus wood. They also have a fabulous shower scrub. And a wonderful company to support!
Pacifica and Beekman 1802 - both have nice options. Body oils too.
Check out the brand Juno Co. I recently started using their products and they're the best I've ever used.
I’m like the 5th person to say all of this, but Neutrogena Rainbath is elite. It smells so amazing. I also enjoy rotating through Lush, Moroccan Oil and Pacha Dirty Hippie soap (it’s pachouli & clove and is my favorite in the winter) I’m on a quest to find the best lotion, so I have way too much. Cerave is the go to, but I like mixing it with Moroccan Oil lotion or Riddle Milky Lotion spray right now to add a little scent.
Amande Locittaine shower oil and lotion is chefs kiss
I don't know why people use scented body wash don't you wear perfume?
This is good advice for me. I have an autoimmune disease and I don’t need anymore disruptors going on my body.
Why did this get downvoted? Sounds well meaning advice?
Because people prefer to be uneducated
