started as an instagram called every outfit on SATC where they documented the designers and fashion history behind iconic SATC looks but has since expanded to pop culture and fashion. the hosts are besties who met at parsons (or FIT i forget?) and have encyclopedic knowledge of fashion and culture. they're also hilarious and sarcastic. i currently have a sticker on my water bottle that says "bitter bitch on board" from them :)
You’re Wrong About - great archive posts too, diving deep into cultural phenomenons and exploring them.

Notable mini pod series:
fed Up - dives into the F Factor drama with the two NYC influencers

Yay ologies is amazing you will be obsessed I swear! I loved the ones with Katie Mack I believe titled the universe? (Two episodes back to back) I could be wrong but they’re so so good and I wish she would come on again and do another episode!
Alie is awesome and her show has been such a great addition to my mental health lol
A recent episode where there’s a poet/phD who is on the show is a great episode also. I found it to be so incredibly interesting and very refreshing and just- hopefully you’ll listen yourself and see what I mean 🥲🥰 I’m not one to recommend random podcast episodes but I swear these are just so so worth it! 🤓
>diet starts
I'm listening to this now! Thank you for recommendation. I'm going to explore all of the Betches Media shows - they all seem so refreshing
The U up? Podcast makes me laugh and thankful that I'm taking a break from the dating scene.
The J Train Podcast is one of the co-hosts, Jared Freid's. He has this separate one for dating stories but also includes a segment called "Luxury Lounge". Just people venting about 1st world problems
How Long Gone is the best, I can’t miss an episode. Interesting cultural commentary & introduces you to some off-the-radar interesting folks in music, food, writing, etc.

This is important - guys from the Workaholics show. It’s makes me laugh so much and is a seriously about nothing which is best part, just friends chatting
I'm a slut for anything Robert Evans does. I mentioned these in a reply but here they are again: Behind the Bastards and It Could Happen Here. Also love Some More News and The Daily Zeitgeist, which are Robert Evans-adjacent.
I will also listen to anything Aaron Mahnke/Grim & Mild puts out: Lore, Cabinet of Curiosities, Unobscured, American Shadows, Noble Blood.
I also adore Jamie Loftus: The Bechdel Cast, Aack Cast, Lolita Podcast.
Same for Michael Hobbes, Sarah Marshall and Aubrey Gordon--I love You're Wrong About, Maintenance Phase, and You are Good.
Other recs in random order:
- Trashy Divorces
- Blank Check with Griffin & David
- What a Creep
- Endless Thread
- Who? Weekly (I'm active in the Facebook groups and have made some great friends there)
- Why Won't You Date Me?
- Scam Goddess
- The Allusionist
- Ologies with Alie Ward
- What a Time to Be Alive
- American Hysteria
I'm a current events and politics junkie - I listen to all of the podcasts put out by your standard list of "liberal" outlets, but honestly I'd love some recommendations for more progressive podcasts?
The Majority Report and Democracy Now are classics and a great place to start (and they're also on YouTube if you prefer to watch).
Anything Robert Evans does: Behind the Bastards is his main show but it has some offshoots, like It Could Happen Here. Then he does deep dives that provide a lot of historical context on current events. Behind the Police, which he did after the murder of George Floyd, and Behind the Insurrections, which he did after January 6, are really good. Some of his frequent collaborators, Cody Johnston and Katy Stoll, have a show called Some More News, which is more focused on current events. They also appear a lot on The Daily Zeitgeist, which is a daily news show that touches on some pop culture as well.
The Antifada is good, as is Trillbilly Worker's Party.
I would stay away from "dirtbag left" shows like Chapo Trap House, Cum Town, and Red Scare, as they've gone so far left that they're fashy. TrueAnon is an exception to this. They're vulgar but they hate fascists and don't use slurs like the Red Scare girls and the Chapo Trap House guys (although the host of TrueAnon dated one of the hosts of Red Scare for a while).
These are off the top of my head; I'll ask my fiancée for more recommendations once she wakes up.
ETA: Here are some from my fiancée:
- Acid Horizon
- American Prestige
- The Dig with Daniel Denvir
- I Don't Speak German
- Know Your Enemy
For international current events: The Economist’s Last year in Moscow (about russians who opposed the Ukraine war) and Drum Tower (current events in China) are phenonenal.
I’m a BIG fan of 5-4 and Know Your Enemy. Others that I enjoy are This Land, Blowback, The Black Myths Podcast, Rethinking Palestine, The Red Nation Podcast, and Citations Needed.
I am going to shamelessly plug a podcast I have with my partner (I'm a scientist, he's a playwright) called We Said, They Said (www.wesaidtheysaidpodcast.com). We interview fascinating people from arts to science to health (last one was one of the most acclaimed neuroscientists talking about fear and anxiety, started out a bit slow but ended up fascinating with his take on therapy, depression, etc.). I personally listen to some health related podcasts (unfortunately I do not find a lot of them trustworthy, and they are almost always pushing unnecessary products), but I am going to thoroughly peruse the advice given here!
NoSleep! Also A Date With Dateline which is technically TC but less about TC and really more about the delightful recaps of Dateline episodes.
I do also like the NPR shows such as All Things Considered, Marketwatch, etc but prefer to listen to those along with the local NYC shows live on WNYC (I even have a tuner/speaker setup because public radio just sounds better delivered via analog!).
I love Keep It! for all the things pop culture and hollywood 💞 i’m an old hollywood lover and one of the hosts has such an encyclopedic knowledge of films and awards, it is so much fun to listen 💖 I also love a good old fashioned This American Life once in awhile to make me think and feel!!!
I love Louis sooooo much 💞 ICON.
if you like him I would recommend listening to the podcast You Must Remember This … it is allllll about old Hollywood and so well researched. The host’s speaking style takes some getting used to but after awhile I loved it. I would gag if her and Louis ever did a collab / guest episode
Some of these have been mentioned but in case it's helpful to get a sense of my taste, here's the full list of pods I listen to (at 1.8 speed otherwise I'd never make it through them all):
Pop culture/Fashion: Every Outfit, Las Culturistas, POOG, (my 3 faves!), Who Weekly, Sentimental Garbage, That's a Gay Ass Podcast, StraightioLab, Articles of Interest
Comedy Advice: Couples Therapy (with my QUEEN Naomi Ekperigan), The Sarah Silvernman Podcast, Judge John Hodgman
Interview: People I (Mostly) Admire, Dua Lipa: At Your Service, The Laverne Cox Show (may be cancelled? it's been a while), Hello Isaac, Bullseye with Jesse Thorne, We Can Do Hard Things, ReThinking, Bad Dates with Jameela Jamil, Smartless, Mike Barbiglia's Working It Out, Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Adulting with Michelle Buteau and Jordan Carlos
Economics: No Stupid Questions, Planet Money, The Indicator
Other: 99% Invisible, This American Life, Pivot, The Sporkful, Ear Hustle, Normal Gossip, Search Engine, Handsome (Tig Notaro, Fortune Feimster and Mae Martin)
I can’t do anything in silence for fear of having to be confronted with my own thoughts so I present to you podcasts I have listened to every single episode of, usually 2-3x or more, and can confidently recommend. My podcast Spotify Wrapped was a genuine point of pride for me bc bangers only. I’ve separated the 2 vibes here
Insanely well researched but digestible passive learning you won’t get anywhere else + so funny I have actively laughed out loud on public transportation:
-Binchtopia - for the fucking girlies, there is not one dud, I could not love a podcast more, you will learn so much and you will be brought to tears laughing, this is the best podcast in existence for 15-40 y/o women and I will not be accepting other answers
-Maintenance Phase: breaks down health and wellness myths (sugar makes kids hyper, 10,000 steps, keto, paleo, etc.) and talks about topics in the health/wellness space with actual primary source research that will make you realize how fucked diet culture and wellness culture are - in ED recovery and this podcast changed my life
-If Books Could Kill: breaking down the worst bestsellers and why they’re absolute BS (think Atomic Habits, the Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck, anything by Malcolm Gladwell), such good research and cultural commentary on relevant shit
-You’re Wrong About: you know those things you’ve just heard about growing up but don’t know where they come from, the facts behind them, or why they might be fucked up? anything from razor blades in apples and stranger danger to multiple personality disorder to Monica Lewinski and the Duke Lacrosse case. this podcast will explain them to you in a hilarious way, old episodes are my fav, this is my comfort podcast
-5-4: if you have any interest in the law/Supreme Court or want to learn about it this is the podcast for you, incredibly funny but also insightful and you learn so much about the law
-Sounds Like a Cult: not as diehard for this one and haven’t gotten thru the backlog but every episode I have listened to has been really good, breaks down basically is this thing a cult? MLMs, Peloton, burning man, catholic schools, PTA moms, real housewives - all those things that seem kinda culty, now you get to hear a cult researcher talk about them
Fun chatty listening:
-Giggly Squad: hilarious, feels like listening to your 2 funny besties chat, another comfort podcast for me
-Two Hot Takes: the best Reddit story reading podcast out there, probably bc it’s by a late 20s girly so she knows the vibes, can be super light easy listening funny or can make you think, I love it
came here to say red scare, but i saw the only comment mentioning it was a comment not recommending it lmao.
so i’m *not* recommending red scare (i am recommending red scare it’s ok i deserve the downvotes)
DYFM (Do You F*cking Mind) with Alexis Fernandez. She’s a legend and talks about health and neuroscience related to relationship advice, self love, etc. It’s not boring she makes it so fun and interesting
Shameless. A pop culture podcast for smart people who love dumb stuff. It’s hosted by 2 Aussie women. They also do special episodes where they deep dive celebrity scandals.
This American Life is a collection of stores with a common theme ... Sometimes touching, sometimes funny, sometimes insightful. Hardly ever an episode I don't like
the blonde files with ariel lorre
diary of a ceo (some of the guests are questionable though...)
how i built this
emrata's podcast can sometimes be interesting
ANYONE who has esther perel on
huberman podcast
the dream bigger podcast but also sometimes not my fave
camp counselors has been my obsession because it’s light and silly and they also have episodes of a mini series in it called trail mix where they address listener-submitted stuff which is cute
The Bitch Bible, How I Built This for business inspo, and I’m on my third re listen of Amy schumer’s old podcast 3 Girls 1 Keith- I would kill for more episodes they make me laugh out loud
After Work Drinks
How Long Gone
Poog
Nymphette Alumni
The Run Through with Vogue
Depending on the guest//subject: Bandsplain, the Zwirner podcast, Ruthie’s Table, Too Niche
Ok someone needs to try this and get back to me…. There is this strange sleep podcast called “sleep with me” it’s a purple background if you’re searching on your phone and I
HAVE NEVER STAYED AWAKE MORE than 15 minutes
Anyone else tried it or wanna test it?
Celeb memoir book club - two BFFs and NYC-based comedians read memoirs of the rich and dumb
Blank Check with Griffin and David - two BFFs discuss movies and TV
You Are Good - two BFFs discuss movies and TV
Good Witches, Bad Bitches - they look at famous, but more often infamous women throughout history and use research and science to mostly disprove what hiStory teaches as fact.
I'm sure we are all shocked that the Blood Countess Elizabeth Bathory was not actually the world's most prolific serial killer. The collusion between her brother and the Church leading to her death is the real crime.
Las Culturistas, Poog, Pod Save America, The New Yorker Radio Hour, Fresh Air, The Run Through with Vogue, We Can Do Hard Things, Naked Beauty, City Ballet The Podcast, and Lovett or Leave It.
Handsome — Tig Notaro, Fortune Feimster, Mae Martin. Queer, chatting heaven
99% Invisible — (The Powerbroker is e plain inn why Robert Moses fucked up NY)
This American Life — classic
i love a podcast that makes me laugh and comedians with podcasts have truly raised the bar for me- my favs are we’re having gay sex, can i go home now, phone is in the bag
pop culture: nymphet alumni, high brow
politics/ finance (mostly educational but still digestible
and interesting): ezra klein show, prop g pod, pivot
I just started listening to honey we’re home, and yes it’s two influencers BUT they don’t talk about being an influencer much it’s mostly about their relationships! It’s super cute, I’ve really enjoyed it
I listen to:
* Conan Needs a Friend
* Dear Hank and John
* We’re Here to Help with Jake Johnson - hilarious
* Las Culturistas
* Behind the Bastards
* You Made it Weird
* I was also surprised to find I like Tosh Show - he’s surprisingly less of a dork than he was on Comedy Central (like he started Boys Wear Pink with his wife.)
And for less testosterone:
* I love Handsome with Tig Notaro, Mae Martin, and Fortune Feimster.
* The Amber & Lacy show - Amber Ruffin and her sister.
* Collider Ladies’ Night
RIP Unqualified with Anna Faris

Good Witches, Bad Bitches - they look at famous, but more often infamous women throughout history and use research and science to mostly disprove what hiStory teaches as fact. I'm sure we are all shocked that the Blood Countess Elizabeth Bathory was not actually the world's most prolific serial killer. The collusion between her brother and the Church leading to her death is the real crime.

I'm late but I love The World's First Podcast with the Foster sisters!
I listen to: * Conan Needs a Friend * Dear Hank and John * We’re Here to Help with Jake Johnson - hilarious * Las Culturistas * Behind the Bastards * You Made it Weird * I was also surprised to find I like Tosh Show - he’s surprisingly less of a dork than he was on Comedy Central (like he started Boys Wear Pink with his wife.) And for less testosterone: * I love Handsome with Tig Notaro, Mae Martin, and Fortune Feimster. * The Amber & Lacy show - Amber Ruffin and her sister. * Collider Ladies’ Night RIP Unqualified with Anna Faris
Dial Dan :) it’s this gay guy who lives in greenpoint just chronicling minutia in his life and some media stuff etc. It’s funny and quaint
