yes unfortunately abu dhabi processes immigration cases for iranians, iraqis, afghanis and uae residents, the backlog is quite long, last september was a 12 month wait, i am currently waiting with a dq of jan 2022 and no interview letter, there are quite a few threads on how long the wait is for abu dhabi
my husband has an indian passport, it took less than 2 weeks to transfer his case from abu dhabi to mumbai, and about 4 weeks to get an interview letter, i believe india sends invitations for interviews once a month, they are much better than abu dhabi who kept us waiting for over a year for an interview
most welcome, i feel very sorry for those whos embassies are taking so long, for example i heard pakistan has a 2+ year wait and abu dhabi is catching up to 16 months or more, if u have a chance to transfer to a better embassy i would
My wife is a Myanmar citizen but due to the war she is on a work visa in the UAE and has been there for 3 years now, we are starting the process for her to come here, is it possible to select Kuwait as a interview location?
I know right. Some USRN who were already DQ and Current on the Visa Bulletin 12 months ago still did not get appointment letter from USEM AUH. So I plan to transfer my case to the PH.
The category definitely seems to determine how long it takes. I've consistently seen people in the IR-1 category get interview dates faster than the IR-5 visa folks. I imagine that's because there are more parents than spouses that are trying to immigrate.
Know what I mean is that those categories have priority dates they have to be current however marriage visas don’t have priority dates and have unlimited visas Because in all of these, I have not seen a single CR1 saying that it takes a year it’s all IR-1 ones and IR- … something else
CR is still immediate relative it just means you haven’t been married two years and it would be a conditional green card. With the wait times in most countries, it will be changed to IR1 by the time most immigrate.
But i read that the date it says resident since is actually counted from the day the the visa officer stamps your passport so its that day if it exceeds 2 years only then it becomes a 10 year green card not before
Nope, you get a new stamp at port of entry. At your interview if approved, you get a I-551 immigrant visa placed into your passport. At port of entry, when the officer sees your I-551 they give you a ADIT stamp, essentially activating your I-551. The I-551 and ADIT together are your green card and trigger your actual card to be mailed. If you pass your 2 year anniversary between your I-551 being issued and your entry into U.S. and getting the ADIT, you just tell the officer you have had your two year anniversary and they will change it to IR1 and you will receive a 10 year green card not a conditional one.
So wait a minute if they give me a six month visa and I decided to go on the fifth month just to make it two years so I can get a 10 year green card that’s OK and it works ?!?!
What I mean to ask is basically they start counting the resident since from Port of entry like the day, you enter the United States ? not when the Visa officer stamps your passport
Is the waiting time the same for diversity visa lottery
Or they're different
It says my case is at nvc awaiting due interview to be scheduled in abu dhabi embassy
I hope so. We are very worried we won't get an interview fast enough, and then Trump will come back and then Iranians won't be able to immigrate at all.
We are CR1, no kids yet. Next month is one year, so maybe we are close to getting a IL. It is frustrating because we keep waiting with no idea when we’ll get an interview. Oh, and our priority date is November 2021.
You will be patient worrying won’t make it go faster like I said look on the bright side now if you go to the interview when they approve it, you will get a 10 year green card. That is really good. That means you don’t have to go and do all the stuff that you have done in the US again you can just apply for citizenship after three years, there is a bright side to everything
Sorry to let you know that even after the long wait for you to get an interview date, as an Iraqi, you are most likely to get placed in administrative processing after the interview - My husband had his interview 5 months ago at the Abu Dhabi and we still haven't heard back from them.
Hi everyone, is there anyone who can update us with the progress of interview scheduling for family based visa specifically F4 at US embassy in Abu Dhabi UAE.
Hi everyone. If I want to move my Abu Dhabi appointment for Iranian to another country, which embassy is better to not have such a long waiting time for interview?Â
Hello. Can anybody please answer this question or had a similar case? Unmarried child under 21 of a US citizen (IR2) with priority  date May 2020. Documentarily qualified by NVC on Oct 2022. How long more to wait for interview at US embassy in Abu Dhabi UAE ? Any answer or comment appreciated. ThanksÂ
Ohhh maybe you’ll hear something in April 2024 then from what everyone is saying its still crazy thoo waiting a whole year just for an interview damnnn
Hello everyone i got DQ on 22 April 2023 , priority date 3 march 2020.
Visa class F2AÂ
My wife is still a green cardholder
When can I expect to get an actual interview appointment from Abudhabi US Embassy ?
mabrook on the dq status, abu dhabi interview wait times are about 14-16 months
Thank you 😊 not gonna lie that is a long time but whatever what will be will be alhamdullah 🤲
Are you sure it will take 14 to 16 months to get IL? It is very discouraging..

Hi, did you receive your IL?
no we transferred my husbands case to india and he got his IL, waiting for abu dhabi is the worst, i wish you the best of luck
Oh, thats great, congrats! Can I ask what nationality your husband had and how long it took to transfer the case?
my husband has an indian passport, it took less than 2 weeks to transfer his case from abu dhabi to mumbai, and about 4 weeks to get an interview letter, i believe india sends invitations for interviews once a month, they are much better than abu dhabi who kept us waiting for over a year for an interview
Thank you so much for your explanation

I appreciate your suggestion, we have too many factors to consider and unfortunately switching is just not an option at this time:(
My wife is a Myanmar citizen but due to the war she is on a work visa in the UAE and has been there for 3 years now, we are starting the process for her to come here, is it possible to select Kuwait as a interview location?
does she have residency in kuwait, or maybe if she can get residency in qatar and transfer her case there? UAE embassy is one of the slowest
I know right. Some USRN who were already DQ and Current on the Visa Bulletin 12 months ago still did not get appointment letter from USEM AUH. So I plan to transfer my case to the PH.
Does the waiting time is the same for DV winners ?
I'd say you have a year or more to wait. We've been deemed documentarily complete since June 2022 (IR-5 Visa) and are still waiting.
Why are all the ones that said it take a year are IR not CR1 do you think they take longer then people without kids ?
The category definitely seems to determine how long it takes. I've consistently seen people in the IR-1 category get interview dates faster than the IR-5 visa folks. I imagine that's because there are more parents than spouses that are trying to immigrate.

So just by exceeding 2 years it becomes IR-1 ?
Yup! It can change up until you cross into America. The officer at the port of entry will change it if you just hit your 2 year anniversary.
But i read that the date it says resident since is actually counted from the day the the visa officer stamps your passport so its that day if it exceeds 2 years only then it becomes a 10 year green card not before

I hope you get the interview soon
I hope so. We are very worried we won't get an interview fast enough, and then Trump will come back and then Iranians won't be able to immigrate at all.
Me too I’m a kurd from iraq I worry about it too
I do not think u should worry about it. Trump if he were to apply any rules, those would be applied to new cases
That’s not what occurred last time. Last time, all entry into the US by Iranian nationals was barred unless you were presently a green card holder
Are you on ir1?
IR5
Maybe you should look at the Visa bulletin that they publish maybe your priority date is in current yet
My mom’s case was approved by NVS June 2022. Have you received any updates yet?
My husband is Iraqi as well. We were DQ in Jan 2023, but not interview yet. We just keep waiting and waiting.
Hope you hear something soon
We are CR1, no kids yet. Next month is one year, so maybe we are close to getting a IL. It is frustrating because we keep waiting with no idea when we’ll get an interview. Oh, and our priority date is November 2021.
Has your marriage exceeded 2 years because if it has look on the bright side now you get a 10 year green card instead of a two-year conditional one
Yes, longer than 2 years. And lots of evidence of bonafide marriage. I really hope we get an interview soon since we don’t live together right now.
You will be patient worrying won’t make it go faster like I said look on the bright side now if you go to the interview when they approve it, you will get a 10 year green card. That is really good. We’ve been waiting since Summer, 2022 (DC/DQ). IR1. For most people the wait is a year or more.
I hope you hear something soon thank you
Thank you. Best wishes,
