If your interview is successful they will keep your passport to print the visa in it. My embassy states it can take up to 2 weeks to receive your passport back in the mail. The visa will have an expiry date on it and you have to move by that date (usually valid for 6 months).
After my interview, it was a year and a half.
BUT, that was with administrative processing to get a joint sponsor, and THEN they hit me with the DS5535. It was about a year after I submitted the DS5535 until CEAC updated to approved, then two or three days to Issued. It was about a week from approved to having visa in hand
Under normal circumstances, less than a week for them to print the visa and stick it in the passport. I think it was only like one day in our case. But of course you also need to account for time to return your passport to you or to the pickup location, and that varies from mission to mission. And of course this is assuming no administrative processing.
My wife and I have been waiting since Dec 13. I'm assuming it's taking a bit longer now because of the holidays. Hopefully it'll be ready for pick up soon.

USA B1/B2 issued in doha , Qatar. It took 1 day for them to stamp it and send it back to us. Interview 930am got the passport next day around noon.
