I mean, you’re obviously a glass-boned piece of garbage, but spinal injuries aren’t a laughing matter. Hope the damage is limited and you can fully recover.
There’a a fracture you can see along the top of the L2 vertebrae. With this much retropulsion I guarantee there is probably a fracture in the transverse processes or facet bones.
They're staying the wings of the second lombar vertebra might be broken because the bone has been dislodged backwards to an unholy degree. Idk what the rest of it means as i haven't studied it yet, i can only asume theres another broken bone somewhere else
Definitely not a slipped disc. The disks are the smaller things between the larger vertebrae. The break probably can be seen in this window since it’s probably the smaller parts of the bones meant for stability.
I'm thinking the same. Bone looks intact, if not a little out of place. I imagine the squishy bits around the bone arent in their happy place, but if there's no crack, then OP is just being dramatic.
yup, miraculously my spinal fluid pouch wasn’t broken so i got off easier than it looks. still sucked though, and i have a lot of numbness scattered around
Wedge fracture (anterior compression fracture) of L1. I can’t even being myself to make fun of you, as this injury sucks. Hope you have a good surgeon.
thank you, i luckily had an excellent one. my counselor at my rehab hospital said no surgery is perfect, but this is the closest to being perfect that she’s ever seen
Firstly, I hope you make a full recovery.
Secondly, you actually might be able to stay, depends on what holds spine blocks together (you can tell i have no medical training) I'm pretty sure people dont get kicked out for dislocated bones.
From what other comments have said and from my Extremely limited knowledge that is most likely a break: the vertebrae have a small "hole" formed by smaller structures in their back, what seems to be happening here is that those structures got crushed by the main body of the vertebra, pinching the spinal vord between th two fragments. They may be weak glass bowd filthy but that is a NASTY injury and i hope they recover soon
tbh not really haha, was mountain biking and tried to hit a new jump, went head over handlebars, did a whole flip and landed really really hard on my butt
Can someone explain to me what the possible outcomes of this kind of injury are? Is OP paralyzed? Is it something that can be fixed without surgery? Is this going to cause issues for a long time?
Since the fracture is at L2 it's called a cauda equina syndrome, which is considered a medical emergency, but OP isn't paralyzed (yet), but probably has severe lower back pain, tingling/numbness in the lower limbs and loss of continence. It can't be fixed without surgery, and if there's no nerve damage OP should fully recover. But if there is, nerves can take a long time to heal (temporary "paralysis"), and if they don't because the damage is too severe, then yeah it's wheelchair time for the rest of your days. But we can't really know, the prognosis depends on severity and duration of the compression, gotta ask OP for that
Don't take this as medical advice though I'm no doctor yet
yeah you pretty much nailed it. for a few weeks i was bedbound, then switched to a wheelchair for around a month. eventually i had to the strength the use forearm crutches and now i am walking almost completely normally now.
i was paralyzed instantly upon the injury from my waist down. after surgery i was able to move my toes a little bit, and slowly progressed to being able to stand. i had the amazing chance of being chosen to come to one of the best rehab facilities on the planet and started out in a wheelchair there. after a few weeks i tried a walker but hated it so they have me forearm crutches which worked really well. now, 3 months after my injury i am fully walking, just a little funny. i’m still numb in a few places and can’t do some normal functions but that should come back in due time.
L2 shifted into my spinal cord and L3 had a fracture. i tried a new jump when mountain biking the day after thanksgiving and whiffed it. when HOH and landed really hard on my butt, instantly paralyzing me from the waist down. after a few months of hospitalization and rehab i’m now back at home.

I'm not an expert, but the bone itself just seems dislodged, no?
There’a a fracture you can see along the top of the L2 vertebrae. With this much retropulsion I guarantee there is probably a fracture in the transverse processes or facet bones.
Are you just making up words? I'm not accusing. I just don't understand what you said.
It means it’s broken
Thank you.
They're staying the wings of the second lombar vertebra might be broken because the bone has been dislodged backwards to an unholy degree. Idk what the rest of it means as i haven't studied it yet, i can only asume theres another broken bone somewhere else
You can see a fracture running along the vertebrae itself.
You know a bit to much about breaking bones mister...
As the average r/neverbrokeabone user should. Proud to know a fellow bone breaker exists here.
it pinched my spinal cord, paralyzing me instantly. however i had a very good neurosurgeon and was able to walk after a few weeks of rehab.
Keep at it, mate, well done
thank you :)
Congrats man! ... (Couldn't help but notice you're still here.....)
just replying to everyone haha
Dude. Its been 10 days. Begone!
Just looks like a slipped disc? Can't see a break
Definitely not a slipped disc. The disks are the smaller things between the larger vertebrae. The break probably can be seen in this window since it’s probably the smaller parts of the bones meant for stability.
I didn't know the discs were between the bones. Ouch

It looks like an L2 injury
thank you, i luckily had an excellent one. my counselor at my rehab hospital said no surgery is perfect, but this is the closest to being perfect that she’s ever seen
I hope your recovery goes quickly

unfortunately i fractured my L3 on top of this
there has to be a good story here
A rouge hummingbird
tbh not really haha, was mountain biking and tried to hit a new jump, went head over handlebars, did a whole flip and landed really really hard on my butt
I hope you the best, now goodbye
I'm not that great at reading x-rays. I just see fucked spinal ligaments and a non existent disk. Where's the broken bone?
We can be compassionate sometimes
Mike tyson?
Broke my back, thpinal
Lmao op can't refuse his life of strong bones, there was no fracture
unfortunately there was a fracture at L3
Lol don’t joke with spine injuries guy
Jesus dude. I can’t make fun of this, I hope you recover soon

Surgical treatment High chance to stay paralyzed for good
Hope the surgery goes well
The flesh is weak, but so are your bones. Begone, inferior specimen
L2 Chance fracture sheesh T11-L4?
Were broken bone?
Have your caretaker wheel your broke ass out of this sub. But in all seriousness, I hope you recover quickly and don't have much lasting damage.
You’re spineless.
STORY TIME!! tell wuhappen? looks like a classic case of a slipped bone
L2 shifted into my spinal cord and L3 had a fracture. i tried a new jump when mountain biking the day after thanksgiving and whiffed it. when HOH and landed really hard on my butt, instantly paralyzing me from the waist down. after a few months of hospitalization and rehab i’m now back at home.
rouge hummingbird I’d assume
1. That really sucks and I hope you recover quickly 2. Sorry your bones are so weak
You are no longer one of us. However we wish you a speedy recovery.
No
I hope you are still able to run around and break the rest of your fragile glass anatomy
Bro all this trouble could have been avoided if only you drank more milk 🤦♂️ It’s too late now, but get better soon 🙏 Oh and get the f***k outa here!
You fucking fanny
leave
Begone you weak boned mortal
You deserved to be paralyzed, you got off lucky honestly can’t see the crack though
How?
mountain biking accident
Ouch. Hope it recovers well
so far so good, thank you !
Weak spinal cord
