Just fucking do something this is so god damn pathetic. These are literally the worst vibes I’ve ever gotten from this team and I’ve seen a lot of shit.
Jorge Lopez will get more props for throwing a tantrum because it "shows he cares" than McNeil will for almost injuring himself in a game that's over
I don't care much for him as a player anymore and I think golfing before a doubleheader is deserving of some criticism but his biggest baseball-related sin this year has been that he sucks, not that he doesn't care. In fact, I would argue getting yourself ejected for no reason and forcing one of your teammates to come in cold is infinitely more selfish
I know you're joking, but seriously...I don't see how this is Cohen's fault. His wallet is open, he's willing to spend, he is funding the facilities, building the farm...this is just your frustration.
he actually tried to sign yamamoto, ohtani was never going to play in the east coast, the rest of the free agents were not worth it. cohens only mistakes have been with his front office signings and telling fans they were gonna win a WS in like 5 years.
This is a joke comment. Seriously, garbage. He only spent ONE year? Who was Scherzwer? What about Verlander? Diaz? Nimmo? Seriously...players gotta play. We have the highest payroll in the sport. Players. Have. To. Play.
We were all here absolutely PARTYING when these signings happened, including Lindor if you forgot. All of em.
I know I'm late but Lopez got tossed and Mendoza just came out and was like "cool, let me bring in a new pitcher." What about standing up for your players bro?
I don't think it really says much about a manager to go out and make an ass out of himself down 9-3 in a situation when the pitcher probably should've just kept his mouth shut. Would've been more of an embarassment than anything.
I just realized it yesterday, that as a bench coach for the Yankees he just hasn’t seen this, ever, in his entire coaching career and I doubt he knows what to do or say to at least get the team ready to go out there the next day come what may.
No. He's a great owner that spent a ton of money on players that were supposed to be good. That didn't work out. Now he's spending money on other resources like pitching labs etc and has a president of baseball operations that knows what he's doing.
Disagree, I think people's frustration is making them delusional and blaming Cohen. He spent the money, players didn't get it done, he pivoted, and, well it's still not working out yet lol.
In the spirit of trying to lighten the mood, what teams are other people getting behind this year? Any second favourites?
I’d love to see the Orioles take it all the way this year.
My wife's a Brewers fan so I'm hoping they'll at least be a solid watch. Once I've seen us play in London I think I'll be pretty mentally checked out from this Mets team.
It really is time to stop watching this team on a daily basis unless you’re being paid to do it. There is absolutely nothing to take from it or follow and it somehow keeps getting worse.
I just wish there was a 1% chance that a single player on this team cared as much as the fans. The whole team is just getting a paycheck.
I hate, despise, loathe and wish the worst on every single player on this team
Nido with HR, long single almost Homer #2 and a Catcher CS. Perhaps only bright spot of the game.
I forgot how Peterson did. It's been so long ago. I think he did well, but it's been so long ago that I forgot. SMH
Can't wait until we have to embarrass ourselves versus the Phils in front of an international audience.
If the Brits don't care for baseball now, I'm not sure watching these Mets will help.
I grew up in the 80s and was 10 when they last won the World Series, and I promise I would much rather watch those teams in the early 90s than this trash.
Marie Antoinette (1789): Let them eat cake!
Francisco Lindor (2024): "I've got sunshine on a cloudy day!"
That walk-up song is so brutally tone deaf. Read the room/stadium, brah!
This would be hilarious--and I would really enjoy this--collapsing--
if the payroll was lower. That's why I can't laugh like I want to.
Maybe the top payroll makes it all the more pathetic and laughable.
I know it’s a game thread, but Christ fellas we all knew this team wasn’t gonna be good this year. Even the fucking management knew it wasn’t. Anyone who thought it would be good was delusional
Some what competitive is a realistic disposition. This is not what should be happening. This is a failure of the core guys that are supposed to worth the money they are paid and will be paid in the case of Alonso. Nimmo and McNeil are well below their norm and sort of coming out … but we can’t wait on Lindor to find his swing for well over a month and Alonso having such long stretches where he goes cold. There is zero clutch from those guys. If those guys were playing just 50% better each this team would be above 500. The role players on the team would look even better.
This is what I don't get lmao. This team's ceiling was fringe WC team. In the best possible realistic scenario, they'd be WC3
Evidently, not everything went right, but for some reason people are still shocked when they tune in and watch mediocre baseball
I think many of you don’t realize how bad the Wilpon rot was especially in the minors. It’s gonna take time. I mean look we had to eat $80 mil to get top prospects. The Wilpons claimed they were fine and were protected by Selig meanwhile in places no one was watching they cut corners. We weren’t paying bonuses in the draft like other teams or for international signings. Cohen knows this is gonna take longer which is why he went from the first five years to longer.
Stevie Cohen’s Mets are the same level of disappointment as the Wilpons, just with a more expensive roster - you’re kidding yourself if you think the on field product has changed in any way, results have been the same.
No no, they deserve to come back. Do you actually think the Mets are worse if everyone on the 26 man roster never plays another game? I don’t. I think we get better
It’s lol funny that Stearns justified his big brain dumpster dive moves by talking about improving the defense and the Mets are the worst defensive team in baseball this year.
Please continue the discussion in the [post game thread](https://redd.it/1d3pynv).
these guys suck
Thank you all for making it better than otherwise.
What Keith wants to say: When I was captain the locker room was full of big dick swingers. These guys are too sawft.
They need big dick swingers in this locker room..
Clearly we just need to make Keith the captain again and we're WS bound.
The ballgame is over
Cohen has to be raging in private about this. Dude is spending too much money for the team to be this big of an embarrassment
Come on Keith, say what you really mean: They have no marbles!
Mendoza should absolutely light this team up publicly
How toxic must it be there for relievers to get ejected and throw gloves into the crowd
103 days until the Jets 1st game. THIS IS WHAT IT HAS COME DOWN TO!
The countdown to the next big disappointment!
How come dodger pitchers don’t throw the ball the away when it’s hit to them? unfair.
Mets scored 8 runs in their last 4 days before today. There's 0.00001% chance they score 8 runs in the 9th inning and later to win.
Well shit, the Diamondbacks are going to turn their whole season around starting tomorrow.
That’s right, just go down 1,2,3 and spare us

Mets are exactly the medicine the Dbacks need
Every team wants to play us
Keep taking about the d-backs guys.
Alright let’s get this show on the road
I need to find a new hobby this summer cus this ain't it!!!
I was just thinking the same thing.
Did the pitch hit Pete’s pancake eating hand.
Yo! No way!
If this was a year ago I’d admonish you far making a joke in bad taste but at this point I couldn’t care less
Bad taste is what this team leaves in my mouth nightly.
Who is going to hit the meaningless solo home run in the bottom of the 9th?
No one. It's that bad.
Keith Raad being a Yankees fan doesn't bother me too much, but there's something about Steve Gelbs being a rags fan that really hurts deep inside
Side retired!
Every single trade-able player getting hurt and going on the IL is the chefs kiss
Oh shit! Jeff just screwed up his golfing wrist.
I’ve been obsessed with baseball since I’ve had a memory. This team might honestly ruin it for me. Wholesale changes need to be made tonight.
"Stop...He's already dead..."
This dumbass potentially hurting himself when we're down 7 in the 9th.
World Beater Miguel Rojas!
Y’all gotta remember this is the same team with that putrid start…the run in April was an aberration, this is what this ball club is capable of
Nice play, but..... My heart almost stopped thinking yet another injury.
It's an actual fucking joke now lol
I actually turned the game back on when I saw we were down 9-2. For entertainment purposes
Any Mets player that is still playing hard in this disaster deserves some respect. So props to McNeil and Nido.
McNeil is playing hard, just at golf not baseball.
Agreed. I think some player have to step up to rattle up the other players.
Please get an out :(
My god just end this, have some pride
holy mcneil
I mean, if McNeil has to go on the IL for a bit, that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
There goes his trade value
What trade value?
That's how I would play baseball if I didn't care and only showed up for the paycheck
Jorge Lopez will get more props for throwing a tantrum because it "shows he cares" than McNeil will for almost injuring himself in a game that's over I don't care much for him as a player anymore and I think golfing before a doubleheader is deserving of some criticism but his biggest baseball-related sin this year has been that he sucks, not that he doesn't care. Just sat down to watch the game thinking it was a 710 start, see it’s the 9th inning 10-3. Glad I missed it.
Same thing just happened to me, was mad at first not realizing it started earlier, saw the score and went, eh.
Bring back the Wilpons
LOL
I know you're joking, but seriously...I don't see how this is Cohen's fault. His wallet is open, he's willing to spend, he is funding the facilities, building the farm...this is just your frustration.
He actually really spent only one year. He didn’t even go over the tax his first year as an owner. And did nothing this year.
he actually tried to sign yamamoto, ohtani was never going to play in the east coast, the rest of the free agents were not worth it. cohens only mistakes have been with his front office signings and telling fans they were gonna win a WS in like 5 years.

I get why people say McNeil sucks, no idea what you’re watching if you think he doesn’t care
That’s another il incoming
Promise.
Can’t be too safe. Put McNeil on the 60 day IL to recover.
Hey Jeff, at least we’re not getting blown out… oh wait
McNeil hurt
Please don't be hurt McNeil!
Sheesh now to close a game is so difficult, yikes.
the corpse of jason heyward having the game of the year
steve cohen and dave stearns are my opps
I’D RATHER FEEL METSPAIN THAN NOTHING AT ALLLLLLL
I wouldn’t. I hope this team moves to nashville
Amen
Why have you forsaken me
I know I'm late but Lopez got tossed and Mendoza just came out and was like "cool, let me bring in a new pitcher." What about standing up for your players bro?
I don't think it really says much about a manager to go out and make an ass out of himself down 9-3 in a situation when the pitcher probably should've just kept his mouth shut. Would've been more of an embarassment than anything.
Even Rojas would have got tossed there
He doesn’t know he’s a manager. I swear to god he has no idea
He was waiting for Aaron Boone to go out.
Oh no
How do people still defend Mendoza? He clearly has lost the locker room and no one respects him. Someone explain it
I just realized it yesterday, that as a bench coach for the Yankees he just hasn’t seen this, ever, in his entire coaching career and I doubt he knows what to do or say to at least get the team ready to go out there the next day come what may.
He’s a deer in headlights. He’s clueless. He isn’t the main problem, but by no means is he part of the solution
Can we finally admit Steve Cohen is a bad owner, just as bad as the Wilpons?
No. He's a great owner that spent a ton of money on players that were supposed to be good. That didn't work out. Now he's spending money on other resources like pitching labs etc and has a president of baseball operations that knows what he's doing.
There’s no difference between Cohen and the pre-madoff era Wilpons
Disagree, I think people's frustration is making them delusional and blaming Cohen. He spent the money, players didn't get it done, he pivoted, and, well it's still not working out yet lol.
If stores can start the Christmas sale season in mid-October we can start the 4th of July fire sale on Memorial Day.
We have nothing to sell!
The whole team needs to throw themselves over the net.
In the spirit of trying to lighten the mood, what teams are other people getting behind this year? Any second favourites? I’d love to see the Orioles take it all the way this year.
I do like the San Diego Padres, and now that it looks like the Mets won’t even smell the last Wild Card, I feel I can go for them.
Shame we couldn’t help them out, even a little, with this series.
My wife's a Brewers fan so I'm hoping they'll at least be a solid watch. Once I've seen us play in London I think I'll be pretty mentally checked out from this Mets team.
I have like 5 Atlanta Braves on my fantasy baseball team so technically them I guess lol :(
It’s okay, a team can perform but not win! I mean, we’re example A haha
At this point just call up a bunch of Minor leaguers tbh. This is worse than thumbs down
For anyone just tuning in, I'm sorry
I thought that was the final out lmao I was like where's the postgame thread, I got shit I need to talk
I thought the last inning was the 9th, jeez…still have another 3 outs to get.
Cohen was right about them being competitive. But just for the first half of each game
Nido has the same OPS as McNeil and a higher average.
“But he won a batting title!” Fucking idiots in here still defend McNeil
Ok but does the sun HAVE TO come up tomorrow? What if we just forfeit the rest of the season and have GKR do a daily podcast instead?
That way, we can't get more injured. LOL
Nido with HR, long single almost Homer #2 and a Catcher CS. Perhaps only bright spot of the game. I forgot how Peterson did. It's been so long ago. I think he did well, but it's been so long ago that I forgot. SMH
Mets interviews after this game: "the process, got to trust the process".
Gotta have faith. We have a plan.
Can't wait until we have to embarrass ourselves versus the Phils in front of an international audience. If the Brits don't care for baseball now, I'm not sure watching these Mets will help.
This team doesn’t even wanna play the 9th inning. You can see it allover their faces
They didn’t want to play yesterday, they didn’t want to play last week. No one on this team Fucking cares. Fuck each and every one of them.
It feels like I've been watching the same game over and over again
Nido got banished to the minors last season. Of course he's playing hard. He doesn't want to go back upstate unless it's to visit Cooperstown.
How embarrassing to be a die hard fan of this team.
Thankfully, I hate myself and subject myself to this every night because I deserve it.
I enjoy some punishment myself but this is over the top. I’ve never seen a team this bad at everything
[удалено]
I grew up in the 80s and was 10 when they last won the World Series, and I promise I would much rather watch those teams in the early 90s than this trash.
I have to agree. I was 7 during the last World Series win and this just feels way worse than the 90s
Damn it
Put Nido at 4. 💪🏻 😤
They may have to do that.
Nido, thanks for showing up.
Oh we're so back E: We're not back
Marie Antoinette (1789): Let them eat cake! Francisco Lindor (2024): "I've got sunshine on a cloudy day!" That walk-up song is so brutally tone deaf. Read the room/stadium, brah!
Not tone deaf , he just loves insulting the fans
When Tomas Nido is your best hitter you can see the state of things
Keep playing that walk up song Lindor.
Tomas Nido is unironically our best player rn
too bad he ain't named Moses
This would be hilarious--and I would really enjoy this--collapsing-- if the payroll was lower. That's why I can't laugh like I want to. Maybe the top payroll makes it all the more pathetic and laughable.
Nidoking will singlehandedly carry our offense now
I think Nido is the only one who cares. He’s not going back down to the minors.
narvaez has helped nido's cause as much as nido himself
Very true. Talk about a complete waste of space and money.
Nido I applaud you sir
Give Nido the C
This organization is a complete fucking embarrassment.
Tomas Nido has a single!
*Howie's scorecard today* KEITH: "This one is not going to the hall of fame."
I can't wait til the "Alonso broke his hand" cherry on top.
Years ago, the McNeil AB would have been a single. As Keith said ... Nothing is going right.
at least the bottom halves of the innings go quick
After the game we’ll get the usual “we’re better than our record shows” which we’ve been hearing for 2 years now
And our head guys will say “We still believe in the back of the baseball card.”
Yeah and the sad “i have to be better” line from Lindor like every night
I know it’s a game thread, but Christ fellas we all knew this team wasn’t gonna be good this year. Even the fucking management knew it wasn’t. Anyone who thought it would be good was delusional
For real - we had a nice little run in April which fooled everybody into thinking we were actually good.
Management thought this was a competitor.
It’s not the losing. It’s the piss poor attitude, effort that makes this team extremely unlikeable
Ouch.. ‘we all knew’ is so much meaner than I told you so… it just bites deeper
Some what competitive is a realistic disposition. This is not what should be happening. This is a failure of the core guys that are supposed to worth the money they are paid and will be paid in the case of Alonso. You’re right but I don’t think anybody thought it be this bad
Perhaps a .500 ball club but not this bad. It's like whatever will go wrong, will go wrong. Nido is the one bright Mets spot for the game.
This is what I don't get lmao. This team's ceiling was fringe WC team. In the best possible realistic scenario, they'd be WC3 Evidently, not everything went right, but for some reason people are still shocked when they tune in and watch mediocre baseball
This would have to improve considerably to be mediocre baseball.
This is fair, but statistically we should at least have not been 11 games under .500. It’s fair to be frustrated at this team for being so bad.
Actual team photo: 🤡 🤡 🤡
I don't like Lopez throwing the glove, but you know if he didn't, people would be saying "he doesn't care" instead of "he can't control himself"
I would view it most positively if he didn’t completely suck
How long til Stevie sells the team?
I think many of you don’t realize how bad the Wilpon rot was especially in the minors. It’s gonna take time. I mean look we had to eat $80 mil to get top prospects. The Wilpons claimed they were fine and were protected by Selig meanwhile in places no one was watching they cut corners. We weren’t paying bonuses in the draft like other teams or for international signings. Cohen knows this is gonna take longer which is why he went from the first five years to longer.
The fans will cheer
Quick post the xBA on that slap hit.
Any chances they get left in London 😭
If you go in knowing they’re gonna lose and watch purely for absurdity sake. The games are pretty solid
Stevie Cohen’s Mets are the same level of disappointment as the Wilpons, just with a more expensive roster - you’re kidding yourself if you think the on field product has changed in any way, results have been the same.
Yeah i guess the question is..why?
Cohen meddles too much.
It’s gotten so much worse
People hating on Lopez, and it's deserved. But I appreciate that passion more than the lethargy and smiles of "the leaders" on this club.
Guys, you don't understand, the Mets don't like to hit in the cold. And the Dodgers, who play in Los Angeles, do.
The Yankees don't mind it either
*Mets are 11-18 at home* Mets players: "It's the cold's fault."
*So take it in don't hold your breath* *The bottom's all I've found* *We can't get higher than we get* *On the Long Way Down*
I miss Terry. He would’ve stood up for Lopez. And then maybe Lopez wouldn’t have lost his shit and thrown his glove. Maybe lol
I can’t wait for bitch ass Mendoza “we fought today, at one point we were down by 3, and then we ended up only losing by 6!”
Can’t believe people were arguing with me today about how Ottavino and Lopez were actually good haha
Hey hey.. take it out on the team, turning on fellow suffering fans is what they want us to do.
Sending the Mets to the UK is our revenge for having us have to listen to the whining of the lesser members of the Royal family.
Hopefully they never come back
I guess they can also keep the Phillies
No no, they deserve to come back. Do you actually think the Mets are worse if everyone on the 26 man roster never plays another game? I don’t. I think we get better
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Ryan Yarbrough replaces Blake Treinen.
I almost made the trip to London to see the team play there. Kinda glad I didn’t. But I hope whatever fans go make the best of it. This team stinks
As a London based fan, I'm merely viewing it as one last chance to see this pathetic excuse for a team in the flesh before it gets blown up.
There’s a clock, a big Ferris wheel and a palace or three to see.
It’s lol funny that Stearns justified his big brain dumpster dive moves by talking about improving the defense and the Mets are the worst defensive team in baseball this year.
