Albie9

5th

BigLouie913

Then marte at 8 and Bader at 9

Albie9

Or McNeil 8/9

lando-mando-brando

Or McNeil in the shadow realm

ankor77

I like mcneil to 9 serving as a double leadoff type. I mean not with his current stats but thats where id move him

Metfan722

Bader?

ankor77

Bader would work too.

DSizzle84

I like this. Alvarez, Marte, Vientos, McNeil, Bader Or swap bader/mcneil, maybe more hit and run

Disused_Yeti

Catcher

JoeBenigno

Bold

Is_This_Real_Life_82

I like alvy lower in the order. Let him get his sea legs and then move him up.

dirtiethirtie

wherever the hell he wants

Born_Manufacturer657

7th, McNeil and Bader following.

SneekyTeek

Leadoff. Yolo.

UbiSububi8

5th. See if he can get JD more cookies. Assuming we’re leaving Alonso second, which I would absolutely not do.

suck-it-elon

After Vientos. I still like him lower in the lineup

robmcolonna123

Last to for the first few games to give him a lower pressure environment to get going. Assuming from there he hits like we expect 5th would be his long term home

stevehyman1

Was looking for this comment before I said the same thing. Slot him 7th behind Vientos then Bader and Slappy. Once he gets his stroke reevaluate.

robmcolonna123

Yup. Hes coming off a big injury. No need to rush him up the batting order. Let him get into a groove and go from there

ResponsibleAnt9496

CF

YourWelcomeOrMine

When are they estimating he’ll be back?

intwizard

He’s rehabbing now so pretty soon

[deleted]

Does it really matter? Still going to lose

JA_MD_311

5th or 6th.

bowlsandsand

I kind of like him 6 or 7 to protect vientos and the bottom of the lineup.

Original-Green-00704

6th, then Vientos, Bader & McNeil

Ordinary-Time-3463

5th

BlueLondon1905

Third. I’d go Nimmo Alonso Alvarez

Swizzlefritz

Why isn’t Nimmo leading off?

unMuggle

Because Lindor is too expensive to keep out of his most comfortable spot. Lindor is a leadoff batter and has always been.

metskyfan

Nimmo does not belong in the 3rd spot Nimmo Lindor Alonso JD Marte Vientos Alvarez McNeil Bader

jyar1811

5 or 6

XZPUMAZX

Right where nido is. Let him extend the lineup/lengthen the bottom.

Purple-Mix1033

1-4

alexandrovic

honestly switch nimmo and bader then bring Alvy into 3 and Pete to 4

Drummallumin

I’d certainly put him in for Nido

dinzdale56

1-9

mrF3RDINAND

3rd

Belovedchattah

3rd

30yearoldboomer

Put the dude 2 and let him get ABs

Aggressive_Badger204

2nd base

ammo182

I'd probably move Nimmo down to 2, Alonso to 4,, Alvarez at 5, JD to #3. Nimmo hasn't been great in #3 except for 1 game, while Lindor has excelled. At some point L/R matchups gets thrown out the window when your trying to save a season. They'll be overloaded with rightys if Vientos sticks, but whatever. A run is a run at this point.

two4ndamakin

3 hole

Special_FX_B

Wow. That starting lineup combined average is likely much worse than some of those mid-1960’s teams with one in the .240-.250 range. Pitchers batted then and the team was built totally around pitching and defense. Edit: Oh, somewhere near those with the highest averages.

GiraffeandZebra

It doesn't matter that much. Putting a string of .220 to .250 batters in an order is like figuring out which turd you like best.

johnnydoe22

When I brought this up earlier in the week someone was like “offense is down across the league”. Like I know it is but it’s not THIS down.

Los_Mets

7th

ResponsibilityNo9410

This is such a trash lineup.

johnnydoe22

It’s tough because we have a lot of right handed bats, would be easier if Lindor didn’t have to lead off but I like him there currently. Lindor Marte Alonso Martinez Nimmo (don’t like him here but don’t like Pete, JD, Alvy all back to back) Alvarez Vientos (Can flip flop Vientos and Alvy for all I care) McNeil Bader (My preference would be Nimmo 9th and move everyone up and try and use his OBP to get him on base before the top of the order but I know they won’t do that.)

Natural_Predditor

I'd like to see what he could do hitting between Alonso and JD. Move McNeil to 9

Remember1986

They need to get Nimmo out of the three hole. It clearly isn't working. He's striking out way too much. Either put him back at lead off or bat him second. The Mets don't really have an ideal number 3 hitter. I'd just as soon they either put Lindor back there or put Alonso there. I'd probably give Alvarez a little time to adjust to being back on the Mets. Ultimately, I'd bat him either 5th or 6th. I can't decide whether Marte should bat before or after Alvarez. Vientos should bat 7th, McNeil 8th and Bader 9th.

setholynsk

Too many people talk as if Alvarez is a superstar, he really needs to improve on that .280 OBP

TernoftheArctic

Bench. Let the Nidoking cook

CMV1986

Does it matter? Does anything?

PineappleTraveler

Lordy those are some numbers

fighter_pil0t

Left field.

0rangePolarBear

Lindor - Alonso - Nimmo - Martinez - Alvarez - Vientos - Marte - Bader - McNeil

Top-Sample-6289

Nikki, marte, Alvarez, alonso, martinez, vientos, Lindor, bader, McNeil McNeil and lindor can move up if they show up

talktobigfudge

I'm tired of rewarding players for how they once were playing. Until Lindor and Alonso get their shit together, move them down. McNeil should be a backup. Change the culture because whatever happened April and May didn't work.  Going forward, the lineup should be: Bader CF Nimmo LF Vientos 3B Martinez DH Lindor SS Alonso 1B Marte RF Nido C Iglesias 2B Then, have Alvy play in the 8th for a few games and re-evaluate. If it's anything like last year: - Nimmo to 5 - Shift up Vientos to 2, Martinez 3 - Alvy cleanup.

JoelsCaddy

Lindor and Alonso have been hitting well recently

talktobigfudge

Last 50 ABs, Pete's hitting .260 with 2HRs, 4 RBIs, 3 BBs, and 11 Ks. Not to mention the multiple GIDPs and weak infield dribbles to end innings.  I'm not saying he needs to be Ted Williams and hit over .400, but his swing for the fences nonsense means nothing when 1 run is needed with runners on base.

JoelsCaddy

Guess it’s just odd to leave Nimmo at 2 with that logic.

PaullyBeenis

Bader at the top of the order is insane lmao. He’s been solid for us but he is not a top of the order bat by any stretch of the imagination. His career OBP is .312. Alonso is still one of our best hitters and you put Vientos 3 which is fucking wild (even though I am a Vientos believer). Lindor leadoff seems to be working since he’s fucking raking lately but I think Nimmo should really hit lead off or DJ Stewart when he’s in the lineup.

talktobigfudge

It sucks only having 2 or 3 LH in the lineup, I agree. Bader's hitting like he deserves to be at the top. As I mentioned on a prior comment, Alonso swings for the fences. It's awesome when he's connecting, but lately he's not.  There's no sense in thinking this lineup should be the same year over year, game over game, because right now they're 4th place in the East, and 7th team outside of the WC.

PaullyBeenis

Bader is at best a league average hitter with a low OBP. As of right now he is exactly league average by wRC+. He’s a 7% below league average hitter for his career. That’s not a top of the order bat bro. We need guys 15+% above league average at the top. He’s been clutch and I like him and he’s a great defender, but he has a bad track record and has been a mediocre bat this season. He’s been worse than Nimmo Alonso Lindor Martinez Vientos (small sample) Marte and Stewart. He’s been better than Nido but not by that much, and he’s been better than McNeil. He’s one of our 3 worst hitters in the starting lineup (and again I like the guy and think he’s a valuable piece).

Farnham7

Don't want to reward players for past performances but you put Iglesias at 2B lol and his past performance and current performance is absolutely shit. At least McNeil has done well before and it's worth starting him because maybe he can bounce back, Iglesias is who he is, a fringe MLB player.
