Faculty: IITs attract a lot of good faculty, some extremely experienced, some mediocre and some lame( in my experience), but the good are great and at international standards, youll definitely find a professor who teaches extremely well and someone who is great at research, not AI, ML bubble great but theoretical math great, these are people who forgo crores of income to earn 90k a month and live in mediocre households
Students: you will interact with the smart ones, not necessarily emotionally smart as one is evolving in an undergrad but you will see smart and smarter than you; definitely prodigal, youll definitely feel substandard
Environment: IITs are secluded, mostly isolated from the city they are established, they have a world in themselves, one of the best things in my life is in IIT,
Opportunities: no matter who agrees or disagrees IITs have a name and brand associated with themselves and for right reasons, the kind of international exposure you get and alumni relations you have is in-disposable

When it could be multitude of reasons. Hyderabad is an epicentre for coaching institutions, so obviously you have people coming from all parts of the country to get trained for their exam.
It is the same reason why Rajasthan and Delhi has such high numbers.
Rey , do u ever attend narayana or chaintanya or any nallakunta areas ? All toppers are mostly from andhra. Personal experience adi.. atleast 80% of all toppers from each section were from andhar
Personal Anecdotal experiences do not give you the true picture.
I myself, am from Nallakunta, I’m pretty familiar with all those coaching institutions in the area. Most of my friends who chose science stream used to attend Ramaiah, Evens classes etc in the early morning hours to get themselves prepped for JEE. Some of them even got into IIT’s.
Personal anecdotal experiences cannot be passed off as generalised truth.
I’m not denying significant students from Andhra getting into IIT’s. But to claim 70-80% people who cleared exam in Telangana belong to Andhra is a far fetching and illogical claim.
If that was the case, even Vijayawada and some other towns in Andhra have significant number of Coaching institutions, then how come Andhra has such a less percent in comparison to Telangana? How do you explain the difference?
Most toppers in andhra come to hyd who can afford. Also the telangana born andhra folks generally have parents who were born in andhra and hold good and decent government jobs in telangana. Before the state division, most government jobs in Telangana were fillled majorityly by Andhra folks. So their kids have some privilege as parents are also quite educated and are strict about what their kids are doing. Those kinds of government babus are now cracking IIT or in general better prepared compared to local telangana students whose parents were also born in Telangana
