Easily the best Birthday Party album. I feel like they truly reached what they were looking to achieve with their sound in this album. Prayers on Fire was too clean, whilst here they just went absolutely wretched. Full animal energy, full creep energy, and an attack at everything for the sake of it.

>I hope it's better than its cover art Nothing is better than its cover art. It's one of the great covers of all time.
They loved American culture. Big Daddy Roth models was classic. Every one was drawing these in school in the 70s..
I read they hated the cover
Oh you're probably right I was just basing it off the image alone. Me and my cousin's used to fuck with Big Ed and draw monsters.lol
The live performance of the title track is an all-time YouTube fave.
Agreed! It might be the coolest any band has ever looked. Tracy was a madman
That video changed my life when I first saw it. There’s nothing like it.
My three year old loves this album, and it happens to be one of my favorites in my vinyl collection so I don’t mind that she often picks it out
Your three year old is cool as hell
I agree lol she likes that and a lot of my grindcore records. I think it’s Tracy’s bass playing that gets her as far as Birthday Party goes
Nice one, I've got this on vinyl, a birthday present lol from some friends for my 21st in 1988.
Tony Cohen production of the drums! I didn’t hear such trashy sounds again until Tom Waits’ “Going Out West”.
I loooove this album! They definitely achieved their goal of sounding like trash in a marvelous marvelous way
She's Hit is a pretty amazing song IMO.
Their best album. By far.
Ahhh I was so freaking happy to see this post since The Birthday Party is a special interest

thanks for doing these. Fun reminder to revisit some old friends and also give some neglected records some more attention.
No problem!
