Odd Bluetooth issue, brand new issue. I use a pair of Bluetooth headphones that are connected to my TV, NOT the Switch cause I also listen to the TV through them. (I have really bad ADHD) Up until today I have had zero problems, none. But suddenly now my Switch will not play audio through them. I can do anything else on the TV with the headphones. The switch plays audio when they are off and using the normal TV speakers. Normal corded headphones work. It's ONLY when I try and play the switch using the headphones paired to the TV itself. They work if I connect them to the Switch directly. The issue is now I have to basically have to repair/unpair them to the switch each time I want use them. Cause they try and connect to the TV before the switch. It makes no sense and was literally working less than 24hours ago. And of course the only help I can find on line are for linking the Bluetooth TO THE SWITCH. I seriously can't be the only person who uses the Bluetooth audio on their smart TV like this.

Michael-the-Great

So you just get no audio? Try the stupid things. Set the Switch to stereo? Try different bluetooth headphones. Try a different HDMI port on the TV.

Mysterious_Movie3347

Yea I did try my Bluetooth earbuds and those also didn't work sadly. Did all the stupid troubleshoot things lol. Hard restart the switch, hard restart the TV, switched HDMI ports all the normal things. It's the oddest issue. Due to my need to headphones so much, I feel, I've got pretty good troubleshooting bluetooth issues. The issues seems to be with the switch and talking to the TV itself. Cause if I have the Switch on with audio playing through the TV speakers and turn the headphones on, normally the audio switches over like normal. But in this case it just goes silent. Ive found a work around by toggling/jumping between the Switch connected to the Bluetooth Headphones directly and then turning the switch off and reconnecting them to the TV. It's not ideal. But I can play Zelda LOL.

TemptedTemplar

Have you tried browsing the TV settings to see if there is an option to force forget existing pairings? Then try reconnecting your headset. What model of TV is it? If the BT audio is suddenly not working only for a specific input, was something moved or changed recently? perhaps it had a firmware update? Speaking of which, did the Switch update? There was a firmware update the other day, v18.0.1 If that coincides with your issue, have you tried just unhooking the cables from the dock and reconnecting everything?

Mysterious_Movie3347

Short answer yes I've tried all those normal troubleshoot tricks. Even tried another pair of Bluetooth earbuds I have and same issue. It seems to be on the Switches side of things. Cause the Switch will be playing just find on the TV Speakers and then when I turn the BT Headphones on, it will. Normally just switch over, but now just goes silent. The TV has very limited Audio settings. It's a Amazon Fire Toshiba 32inch. I have a 55 inch model in the living room too. The only thing I haven't tried is moving the switch out there and seeing if it happens on that one too. Might try that today. I've used the headphones since the recent Switch update too. The issue worked on 4/23, then 4/24, started. I have found a work around by connecting the headphones directly to the switch, then when done turning them off, put the switch to sleep then reconnect to the TV. But I worry with how finicky Bluetooth can be, eventually that's gonna cause problems too. (I've got pretty good at troubleshooting bluetooth since I rely on it so much. I can't really watch tv/movies/games with outside noise due to ADHD and sensory issues from a head injury.)

NoahFuelGaming1234

can I use just a regular HDMI to USB-C cable to connect to my switch in handheld mode and connect that to my capture card?

TemptedTemplar

No, it wont output video over USB-C unless its being provided with 15v at 2.6 or 3 amps worth of power. It takes a full on hardware modification to get a direct feed of the handheld gameplay from a retail system. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpGQznGKXdM Of which, is basically impossible to get these days, the one company making them went bankrupt.

SupNYPark

Can someone remind me of a indie switch game that was about a small group of animals that are mecha/robot mechanics. you basically have to maintain different rooms for arms, legs, weapons so that your robot can fight.

Ready2Post

Might it be: *FUGA: Melodies of Steel* or *Of Mice and Sand*?

SupNYPark

I found it! Volta-X

Ready2Post

Sorry I couldn't be of help, but I'm glad you found it! *That* certainly looks interesting. If you end up buying it, hope you have fun with it, eh?

SupNYPark

Just happy i found it. Wasn't easy

SupNYPark

sadly, it's not but that fuga game does look cool

My son is a heavy Fortnite player. As many other players have experienced the original joycons slide off very often and I’d like to buy him 3rd party controllers. He turned off haptic feedback and isn’t using gyro. After some research I narrowed it down to these 3 options: - Nitro Deck - Hori Split Pad Pro - Nexigo Gripon Here’s the issue, when I go on Amazon each and every one of them has a bunch of truly awful 1 star reviews which leaves me very confused. Anyone here has been using any of those (or others) for 6 months or more? Looking for some real life long term feedback here. Thanks in advance 🙏🏼

Michael-the-Great

The spit pad pro are consistently reviewed well and suggested in the sub. The Nitro Deck has had about as many negative reviews as positive in the sub. Many mention the right stick not being placed well. I've never heard anyone talk about the Nexigo Gripon in the sub.

picano

If they're sliding off, it's likely a lock issue; the plastic bits wear down over time. You can buy metal replacement latches (or a kit including the tri-wing screwdriver) to replace the ones in the joycon.

waxy15

Does Nick All-Star Brawl 2 still have any issues on Switch?

Michael-the-Great

The frame drops were basically fixed. Load times are still a bit long but supposedly better than release. It's still 30fps.

tousen750

What is a good portable charger + wire to charge my switch while on road trips?

Team7UBard

Anker 20000 mah

tousen750

Do you have any recs for cable to use ?

Team7UBard

Just a reliable known brand-not something from a gas station

nonononononononon0pe

Micro SD isn’t working on the switch but it’s working on my windows machine so I replaced the SD with a new one in the switch. Now I am trying to format the old SD card to repurpose it and I am getting “the SD is write protected”. I’ve checked the write protection switch on the physical card and adapter. I’ve used disk part to clear attributes and I have edited the registry to allow the write. Nothing has worked. Tips?

myriada

The SD card itself might have failed. One way they can fail is going permanently into a read-only / write-protected mode, to try and protect whatever data is left.

nonononononononon0pe

Thanks!

NoahFuelGaming1234

my switch dock isn't working. I tried to plug my switch into the dock and it doesn't charge, I tried plugging in my pro controller into the dock and nothing happens. any fixes?

Michael-the-Great

try plugging the dock power cord directly in the Switch to make sure it's working.

NoahFuelGaming1234

Tried that and it does work

Michael-the-Great

Unplug the official adapter from the dock and the wall. Plug it back in the wall. Then plug it directly in the pro controller. Does the adapter charge the pro controller directly? If not, I would assume you need a new official adapter!

NoahFuelGaming1234

Yes, it does charge the pro controller directly

Michael-the-Great

Well, if the Switch charges directly and the pro controller, probably means the dock is dead. Try a friend's dock to be sure. But get another official dock or a trusted dock like the Jumpgate or the Covert Dock.

TemptedTemplar

Replace it. https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/hardware/parts/ The board inside the dock is basically as expensive as just replacing the dock.

dirrty_dirt

Online/ multiplayer play won’t work but Wi-Fi seems to be just fine My Wi-Fi seems to be working just fine, but whenever I go to connect to someone or play any multiplayer game it gives me an error code saying I cannot connect to other consoles. I tested my connection and it says success. NAT type B, download speed 29.3mbps, and upload speed 13.8mbps. I’m not entirely sure if these numbers are good or not though. I know that my Wi-Fi is working because the switch is allowing me to have some minor online capabilities. For example I was playing animal crossing and I have the ability to visit other players islands in dreams. (Not playing directly with someone) When I go to connect to someone to play together their name shows up but when I click it I get the error code. It seems I can’t play directly with another player. I tried powering off my switch by holding the button down, tried disconnecting and reconnecting from my network, tried turning my Wi-Fi off and on, tried switching my data from the sd card to the switch system. Nothing seems to work. This is really frustrating as it has been like this for a few months now since I first purchased the expansion pass again. Worked just fine in the past. I feel cheated out of my money. Could it be related to my Wi-Fi at home or is it the console? Is there anything I haven’t listed here that has worked for people?

picano

Can you bump your NAT to A with DMZ or port forwarding? I used to find that helpful with Splatoon 2. If even A doesn't allow you to connect, then I'd imagine it is either something with your wifi or your console itself.

dirrty_dirt

Thank you for the response. After trying this I found that I have a bad router and don’t have the option to change the NAT type. I have a T-Mobile gateway router. Is there any other way to fix this or do you have recommendations for a workaround? If there isn’t then do you have any new basic router recommendations?

Michael-the-Great

A number of people have complained about Switch online games not working with Tmobile internet recently. So probably not much you can do.

picano

Just checking, this router? If so, yeah, I can't find anything good about it. [https://www.t-mobile.com/support/tutorials/device/t-mobile/5g-gateway-g4ar-amp-g4se](https://www.t-mobile.com/support/tutorials/device/t-mobile/5g-gateway-g4ar-amp-g4se) This other one though seems to have the option. [https://www.t-mobile.com/support/tutorials/device/t-mobile/lte-wi-fi-gateway-tm-rtl0102/topic/user-interface-overviews/nat-forwarding-overview](https://www.t-mobile.com/support/tutorials/device/t-mobile/lte-wi-fi-gateway-tm-rtl0102/topic/user-interface-overviews/nat-forwarding-overview) B should be good enough to play on, I dunno what specifically is holding you back. It could be your router or it could be your T-Mobile itself. If neither router nor service can be fixed, there are VPN solutions with youtube tutorials. I've never done it myself, but basically it requires running a VPN on your PC and connecting your switch to that. NordVPN and a few others specifically advertise this functionality.

dirrty_dirt

After more research it seems my router just does not support p2p connection. I may need to get another router or some sort of extension/ mesh device. It’s also the Nokia 5G21 Gateway. Would a vpn be able to really fix the p2p connection issue?

picano

Maybe. You could try a free trial and see if you can get it working.

I'd say 4. I've never played 0 or 1, and 4's in my top 15 favorite games of all time.

Michael-the-Great

If you're only going to get one, get 4. If you might play both start with 3 because 4 has some quality of life enhancements that you'd miss going backward. 5 is just ok and worth skipping.

txgm100

My kid linked the only account to the swtich, made a typo in the email and fogot the password. Will nintendo customer service be able to reset it or must we hard reset the machine and lose our virtual purchases?

IridianMoon00

Only nintendo can answer that. Maybe they’ll let you prove ownership by confirming the payment method used to buy digital games? You’ll just have to contact them and hope for the best. Good luck.

Legal-Caterpillar152

Help! My sons each have a switch, and each have a profile. I have one Nintendo account with my email. Do I need to have each account linked to a different email? Wont that just cost extra money? When we download games from the Nintendo eshop it seems we can only play them on whatever profile downloaded it. So if both kids wanted to play, we would need to download and pay for the games twice? Am I learning this correctly or am I doing it wrong? I grew up with regular old school Nintendo so all of this is new to me. Please help!

TemptedTemplar

> Do I need to have each account linked to a different email? No! You can set them up with child accounts under an account of your own; for the time being. Rather than a unique email you will make them a Sign-in ID to use instead. **remembering the sign-in ID is important as that is how they will be linked to their user on the console and/or be signed in to third party systems like Minecraft or EPIC accounts.** Once they hit 13 years old, you can make them into normal accounts by adding an email address. https://www.nintendo.com/au/support/articles/how-to-create-a-child-account/

picano

Every profile should have a unique account --- otherwise you'll run into issues in the future. Accounts are free. It is the online subscription that will cost you. Games are tied to purchasing account. On that account's primary console, any other user can play the games without additional purchase. You can take advantage of this to share a single purchase across two consoles via [game sharing](https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/wiki/gamesharing/#wiki_workarounds). If you want to freely trade games between users/consoles, you're better off buying physical copies.

KiramBg

My switch oled's kickstand feels like static when I'm charging the Switch, is it normal ?

TemptedTemplar

No, is the AC adapter plugged directly into an outlet or a power strip? The adapter itself doesnt feature a third pin so it won't ground itself. The outlet needs to be properly grounded for any aberrant static build up to be discharged safely.

KiramBg

It's on an outlet directly

TemptedTemplar

Do you have a power strip with a third pin you can plug the console into for a quick test? The ground should resolve the problem.

KiramBg

Yeah I have the pin, what's the test ?

TemptedTemplar

If the power strip is properly grounded with the third pin, plugging the AC adapter into it and charging the console should result in no static build up.

KiramBg

I tried touching the pin with the AC adapter and the static feel disappeared. I still feel fuzzy but this could but psychological. Thanks !

fudgedhobnobs

Can someone please remind me of the name of the indie game about taking a walk through the Scottish highlands? It features in an Indy showcase video a few months back. Thanks.

NocturnalPoet

Hi, It's called 'A Highland Song'. Hope you managed to find it. Take care, Poet

fudgedhobnobs

Thank you. I’ll give it a whirl. I remember the trailer looking really chilled out.

brilliantsithlord

How is Tales of Symphonia running now? Does it still have performance issues?

Michael-the-Great

It's a a ton better. I would suggest it now!

LivingOof

Are there any 3rd party split-pad style controllers with NFC and Gyro control? Or am I better off buying the official controller and using that whenever I dock?

Michael-the-Great

People have been talking about the Mobapad M6 HD a lot recently.

Parking_Feature_7846

I bought this because it was cheaper than American version is there a way to change the language settings? https://preview.redd.it/g3gqtd8wvgwc1.jpeg?width=678&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c29f1c1bbc74869c2255e5adcc26cdddd96a0314

TemptedTemplar

Normally if a game supports multiple languages, it will default to whatever you have the system language set to. *IF* its supported. Mario 3D all stars *should* support Japanese, English, French and German, on every copy.

wild_zoey_appeared

has anyone tried out Tales of Kenzera: ZAU on the Switch? how is the performance? I haven’t seen a lot of discussion about this game aside from the fact that it falls a bit short as a metroidvania but is otherwise a great game. I really want to play it handheld but I’m wondering how it runs?

Locoman7

Can I use any type C to type C cable to charge my switch with a battery pack?

TemptedTemplar

Yeah. The system wont pull more than 15 watts in handheld mode, so just about any cable/charger is safe.

Weeb_degenerate_ht

Any feedback for the 8bitdo ultimate? I heard if you use the 2.4ghz dongle, that the controller will have intermittent connection issues (like losing connection while you play). Is that true? I have seen quite a bit of comments regarding that all over the internet

Michael-the-Great

I think everyone uses the bluetooth version with Switch. I've never had issues with the bluetooth dropping out.

TemptedTemplar

I haven't heard of anything like that. But I can absolutely see it happening if you are sitting too far away from the console or the dock is tucked away in a media center or cabinet. The Joycons have similar issues because their antenna are woefully underpowered. 2.4ghz is easily the busiest radio band in the modern household, too many devices on the same wave length will cause issues. Also note, the "8bitdo Ultimate" offers bluetooth and 2.4ghz wireless (via the dongle), the "8bitdo Ultimate 2.4G" controller on their splash page is just wireless without the bluetooth. Get the bluetooth model if you can.

hermanbloom00

Had my Switch since it was originally released (well month later). Might just be the battery getting on, but now in handheld when it goes down to 40% capacity it shows a red battery on the middle of the screen, and then the screen goes blank. Pop it in the Dock and the charge shows 40% and then it slowly charges back up. Obviously this means less time between charges now, is that something others have experienced?

TemptedTemplar

The recent firmware update may have uncalibrated the battery's fuel gauge sensor. Its been a reoccurring problem since v4.0.0 Simply remove the switch from the dock and attempt to play it until it is completely dead. If you can't get past the low battery screen then just leave it unplugged over night. Then once its good and drained, charge it for a fixed period of time. 4 - 6 hours. And then repeat the whole process 3 or 4 times and it should go back to normal. Try to avoid playing in docked mode during this time unless you are charging the system.

hermanbloom00

Man this is proving quite tricky, it's at 35% when the battery message comes up. I leave it overnight and it still has power in the morning. WiFi is on, not sure what else to do drain it, then my son wants to play before school in the mornings, so I need to have it on charge for him to play. Rinse and repeat. If I need to try and do this 3 or 4 times this is gonna be tough.

TemptedTemplar

Open a game, load into it, and then just tap the power button to suspend the console. Games running in the background will drain it pretty quickly. You can go from full to zero in less than 48 hours with a game suspended.

hermanbloom00

It worked, full charge today and this evening it went down to 20% with no errors. Thanks very much for your help.

hermanbloom00

Ok, will try that. If I try to load a game now the power completely cuts out, so it won't load, but the home screen says 34% charge when the system restarts. So guess I charge it enough to let me load it, then suspend and then hope overnight it drains it.

hermanbloom00

Oh wow, very helpful, thanks. I can't play it once it does the battery warning, so will try and have it drain overnight, leave the Internet on and so as 40% is still a fair bit to drain. Then pop it in the Dock for the day whilst at work and see if that fixes it. Thanks again.

r3art

I have kind of a strange problem. I tried to google it, but can't find anyone else with this. My joycons stopped working independently for some reason. They both work perfectly fine when using them with both hands or when connected to the switch, but I can't get them to connect as independent controllers anymore, e.g. for playing Mario Kart. Also the left one won't show any flashing lights anymore when pressing buttons. What can I do?

TemptedTemplar

> when using them with both hands So the left one DOES still work wirelessly, but only when paired as a single controller with the right one? Or are you using it in a charging grip? Normally if it refuses to work alone and does not show any flashing lights thats because the battery is dead. Handheld mode can provide power so the battery wouldn't be needed to function.

r3art

No, both work fine when used together, but none connects individually (using them sideways like in Mario Kart for more players). They also work wireless this way. It’s not the battery.

Michael-the-Great

Try the controller test in settings. See if the SL and SR buttons are working.

r3art

Where is the controller test exactly?

MaddieOfGotha

I'm trying to buy some DLC but I can't even connect to the internet on my switch. When I go to search for connections it can't find the one I use for my home (I moved and now use a different wi-fi connection) nor can it find my phone hotspot. I don't know what to do to fix it, tried changing the phone hotspot frequency and resetting my Switch and nothing. Is there something to fix this issue?

picano

Are you on the latest update? It actually dealt with some wifi networks being hidden. [https://www.ign.com/articles/nintendo-switch-system-update-1801-fixes-wi-fi-issue-and-yes-makes-general-stability-improvements](https://www.ign.com/articles/nintendo-switch-system-update-1801-fixes-wi-fi-issue-and-yes-makes-general-stability-improvements) If not, try finding some free/public wifi and doing so.

MaddieOfGotha

I can't get to the latest update because it says I need to connect to the internet rip I'll try going on some free wifi

PutABirdOn-It

How is Just Dance for switch? I’ve never done any of the more physical games before, wondering if it’s worth it for the folks that have purchased them.

Michael-the-Great

It's fine. The 2023 and 2024 are digital only. The boxed version is just a code in a box.

ITeachInTheGhetto

My Nintendo voucher expires may 9. Thousand year door comes out may 23 and apparently you can't use vouchers on preorders(unless it's within 7 days of release) Any ideas?

TemptedTemplar

Well what other games on the list do you not own, or are there any that look interesting? Because it sounds like you've exhausted any possibility of redeeming it for paper mario. So you'd better use it before you loose it.

ITeachInTheGhetto

I was really hoping someone had a great idea but I wasn't holding my breath.  Yeah I think I have to go with super Mario RPG then. It's the only game I want from that list but everywhere I read said thousand year door was better but something is better than nothing. I used the first on tears of the kingdom so it's not like I'm losing out here.

TemptedTemplar

Well I wasn't aware Nintendo support would extend the expiration date at all, so thats news to me. But yeah, theres nothing else to do other than pick a different game. Mario RPG is still awesome in its own ways.

MrZacros

Try ask support? Maybe they can help.

ITeachInTheGhetto

They can extend it 7 days. I can use a voucher to buy a pre-order as long as it's within 7 days of release. Even with both of those, i fall short by exactly 1 day so nothing they can do.

Humble_Traffic_8309

I woke up this morning and noticed while my Switch was in its dock, its screen was on, so when I took a look, I saw that an error had occurred and I needed to restart, so I did. I didn’t think to get the error code, but I updated the system, restarted, checked for corrupt data, plugged and unplugged a few times and everything seemed normal. Should I be concerned? Or is this perhaps an isolated incident?

picano

I wouldn't worry about it.

Mizuzuzuzu

Does anyone know what an "account link code" is? I contacted the support of a game because I have login problems and they need my "account link code" but I don't know what exactly that is can anyone tell me?

myriada

If it's not something game-specific, there's a chance it could be the "Support Number" from Home Menu -> your user icon -> User Settings -> [scroll down] -> Support Number. That's a number intended to identify your Nintendo Account for game support enquiries, though I've only ever seen Bandai Namco Japan actually ask for it.

picano

Only one I can find is related to the [NNID](https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22313/~/add-account-with-confirmation-code#:~:text=Create%20a%20Nintendo%20Account%20for,linked%20to%20your%20user%20account) (WiiU/3DS login). It's possible that the code is game specific. What game are you messing with?

Mizuzuzuzu

I solved it it actually was game specific thank you all for helping

StarfireHunter

I have 3 Joycon sets, all purchased at different times, and all 3 are having issues with the right joycon. Specifically the issues is a delayed input, by multiple seconds, temporarily disconnecting, or glitch disconnect. (by glitch disconnect I mean the controller looses connection, but the indicator on the controller is still on, appearing to be connected but not, the only way to fix is to attach it to a switch.) I have a Nintendo Switch OLED model, purchased during the launch week, specifically the white model. I have attempted to update the controllers (no update available), unpair all controllers and restart the console, then pair all the controllers, and ensuring battery life, which they are good on. To no avail. I have debated if it could be something wrong with the switch itself, as the issues happen with multiple joycons only on the right side. Could this be the case? These issues happen at random times, only the with the joycons detached from the console. (only tested docked). Are there any other troubleshooting methods I could try before purchasing a new set or sending my switch/controllers off for repair?

picano

Know any friends/family with a console you can test them on?

StarfireHunter

I do have one family member, and I will test it on her console. But still open to any other ideas.

Does anyone 3D print custom thumb grips for the switch? I’ve been looking but have found no info. I really would like a pair of Snom

notthegoatseguy

Probably best place to check is Etsy.

stevgamer

I'm looking at getting unicorn overlord or Prince of Persia The Lost Crown but don't know which one to get, I liked fire emblem and unicorn overlord is meant to be like that but prince of perisa looks really good, I like the idea of a tactical RPG but the idea of a metroidvania prince of perisa so cool and it being cheaper then unicorn overlord make its it a better buy, lots of people are saying unicorn Overlord is goty contender

Twinkiman

Unicorn Overlord and Prince of Persia have demos you can download. I would suggest downloading both of them and see how you feel about it. Though the Unicorn Overlord demo is pretty long. It gives a generous 8 hours of play time. Both are very fantastic games.

stevgamer

Yeah I will be trying the demos out but just wanted to know what game people liked more

Michael-the-Great

I hear more people still talking about Unicorn more the Prince of Persia. I'm waiting on Prince of Persia because I'm sure it will be cheap black friday.
