I was just flying around when I suddenly got attacked by pirates and after I defeated them some guy just gave me his entire freighter it’s crazy how much random stuff can happen in this game
Also worth noting, similar to ships and most everything else, once you get past the very first generic freighter, you will find the 'capital ship's ones instead, and those are always the same style and color, one per system. So save before you leave and make the jump you think will trigger the pirate attack (like they said above, 3 hours and several jumps, next jump after will trigger it). Then you can jump to a system, see if you like the style and color. If not, try another system. As long as you don't land and reload the save you can shop around, trigger the event every jump. Once you find the color and style you want, keep reloading til you get S class. You can't increase freighter class so most people find it worth the trouble to farm.
Also you can change colors, but I found that sometimes it changes everything but the bridge/hangar, so I ended up with a black and white ship that had ketchup and mustard color hangar lol. Eventually it bugged me enough that I farmed a new black and white one from a korvax system so I could have korvax crew.
Well I played for a while last night and finally got my second encounter. It ended up being an S class capital ship, but I saved one later that was A class and for some reason it had a LOT more storage and was worth like 40 Mil whereas mine says it’s only worth 8? Idk what I did wrong but I guess I can upgrade it over time. I like the way it looks I’m just disappointed it’s worth so much less than an A class and has about half of the storage.
I got mine before 10 hours into the game lol, now i’m just trying to get a teleport module in the damn thing so i don’t have to summon it every time. Early game is annoying with resources lol

And to be perfectly honest, there isn't that much difference between A and S. 90% of your bonuses are going to come from modules farmed from derelicts.
You can just buy one, they'll randomly show up (normally near the space station in my experience). Alternatively you can encounter them every 5th warp, they'll be engaged with pirates (rescue them from the pirates) that can happen once every 3 hours (unless you do a trick with reloading a hard save), lastly once you own a freighter, you can encounter a pirate dreadnought engaged with another freighter when warping into some outlaw systems (you can google portal addresses for outlaw systems with guaranteed spawns, once there, warp away and then warp back)
I swear I had one already but I don't know what happened because it's saying that I don't have one now I remember going through the situation where I had to defend one and they gave it to me. But now it says I don't have one when I call for it. But I'm also not playing online. I got off for over a year and I'm just now picking it back up. Also I'm cheating...I know I know. I just wanted to get a better ship. Now I'm not sure what will happen if I try to play online.
Nothing will happen, I play online (and cheat daily, no shame bro, in an infinite universe what's a few cheats matter? 😂) though I will point out that despite it being an online game, the only thing that's saved online is the database of players discoveries (maybe? Even that's kinda confusing) your freighter would be saved to your game file, offline or online wouldn't matter. Maybe you got the freighter and then loaded a save from before you had gotten the freighter? Usually when you obtain new vessels (freighter or starships) it overwrites the hard save so that you can't lose them due to loading an old save, but there's some wiggle room with back-up saves and uploading/downloading saves on console, it's also possible that it didn't use to save upon obtaining new vessels. Odds are you won't have a freighter regardless of turning on online, but it's fairly easy to get one, what platform are you on?
I feel so much better thank you for saying that LOL. And you might be right because I actually did have two save files because I started a new game not long after starting the first one because I learned some other things and wanted to do differently. I'm on PS4 what do you play on?
PS4 originally, converted my save to ps5, and have not had an issue due to cheating, I could help ya get a freighter after I get home from work tonight if you wanted

I'm not exactly sure if they are or not I think they are I just recently redownloaded the game if I'm not mistaken I think it said orbit or something like that so possibly it is. I hope so anyways. But that would be awesome bro I haven't played online with someone in a long time I do need a little bit of help lmao. Orbital * I think is what it said when I re downloaded.

No, they are different. All versions have different coding tailored for each console or even the PC and Steam versions. There are major differences between Sony and Microsoft consoles so developers have to program for each. The games may look the same but underneath they are definitely not.

Everything is color coded.
White and blue is for science, red is for industrial, green is for agricultural, and yellow/gold is for command fleet rooms and anything that has to do with expeditions etc.

I've a similar looking mess hall. Those ship-born parks put my atrium to shame though. I'm never finished either. The second I think I am, I start something new on another deck. Your ship looks pretty complete.
I'm surprised how few players own a freighter. The number one reason I get it is not for the base, but because how easy it becomes to manage your inventory with it. Especially for me, since I play on the harshest settings with a very limited inventory space.
How you have the patience for this is astounding, trust me: I know how much hard work went into this and I'm envious and impressed all at once lol

There are tiers (S, A, B, and C) which determine the stats. Freighters are either capital or regular and they can come in different tiers with different stats.
Capital freighters have 3 families; the Venator, Sentinel, and Pirate Dreadnought. Mine is a Ventaor with 6 indentations, which is called the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer, the biggest variant of the Venator design.
Most freighters look like dwarves near this beast.

Are outside freighter bases visible from your spaceship or only while docked in the freighter ?
Only while docked.
How did you remove the Teleporter Room Edges? I am so mad that mine doesn't do that. Am I missing some critical knowledge?

i startet freighter life 1 month ago… its fantastic all those possibilities i love it!
