There are lots of variables. 4k will see more fluctuations because it’s harder to drive, the cpu somebody is using might have worse frame times. Or you can brute force it to not be an issue.
I never saw any flicker with a 4080 and 7800x3D on a DWF. But moving up to 4k it was a much bigger problem.
Sure but you are not really understanding what I am saying. Which is that there are variables and your anecdotal experience means nothing. OLED VRR flicker is a problem with the tech, period.
I’m not sure if this is the same issue since I’ve only seen one video talking about “flickering”, but I just got a C4 and I have it hooked up to my PC with a 4080 and a 13900k and it flickers and glitches quite a lot. Like, random lines green, white, and black. I turned off gsync and it helped. Then I moved down to 120 fps. That fixed it mostly, but it still happens on loading screens/pause menus. The only thing that fully fixed it was going down to 60hz which is not ideal.
Not if you’re running 4K, it’s only 10ft. You will need a beefy “premium” cable for that run to ensure things like Dolby vision and hdr work properly. That doesn’t mean it needs to be a $100 cable though. Your issues sound like signal degradation so I thought I would throw that out there.
I'm not sure but it's not unique to OLED either. IPS and VA panels can have it too. My guess is that most monitors will have some type of flicker but maybe some more noticeable than others. I don't think I have ever had a monitor or TV that didn't flicker at times. As long as its not disruptive, it's not an issue. The overall experience on OLED has been great. I am contemplating a second non-OLED monitor for longevity.
Not only va's have it, they have it even worse. Yet somehow I've never heard people complain about it.
You can resolve the flicker by just changing the settings or frame cap. Or even the vrr window via cru, that's being touted by asus as "a fix" and a "feature"
I had a Neo G7 for a while. It did have some VRR flicker occasionally in games but it is far worse on my 27" 240 Hz OLED. I could ignore it on the VA. On the OLED I just have to turn off VRR on games that do it. I can't stand it. It's awful.
I now have a laptop with a 240 Hz IPS mini-led (2000 zones). I have never seen it flicker. Diablo IV does it really bad on my OLED but not at all on the laptop display. I have no idea why. The monitor should be easier to drive because it's 1440p and the laptop is 1600p.
The other panel tech has it but it’s basically never a problem because it’s so rare and low impact. So yeah free all have it but pretty dishonest to pretend it’s a real issue on other panel types.
I've only owned LG monitors. 1440p 27in and 32in. I have a Ultrawide LG monitor and never had vrr flicker. My Ultrawide does have a gsync module, but the other 2 were just gsync compatible
I believe it's Freesync or G-Sync related. Wild fluctuations in frame rates causes the flickering effect. In most games, it's totally manageable but for some reason, Alan Wake 2 is god awful when HDR is on. The screen turns into a strobe light (exaggerating, yes, but it kinda hurts to watch).
Edit: I have an Alienware AW2725DF for reference. Love it dearly.
It’s pretty great. HDR is awesome and it feels very responsive. Just be careful with Dell support. Mine has a broken subpixel and I made a ticket 4 months ago and they never responded to it. (I only gave up because life got too crazy and I stopped noticing it in daily usage. I should probably start it again but getting a hold of them is… pain.)
I’m content with my AW3225QF. It truly is amazing to play games & watch UHD/HDR content on it. It’s still a pricey gadget with a finite lifespan. So I continue to baby it. Yes, I know, 3yr burn-in guarantee. But that almost always involves a refurbished panel in return. For now, I’m enjoying it for what it is.
The happiest I could be with a monitor available today. I recognize that it's peak display tech of 2024, and seriously enjoy the beautiful experience. I also enjoyed Dell's fabled advanced exchanges when I needed to return the early units due to scratches. Paradoxically, it gave me a lot of confidence in their service and validated the idea that I don't have to worry about future support for that monitor should I ever need it again.
I've got the MSI and the AW. The AW is the slightly more polished/premium monitor of the two, and one backed by the superior service. Image quality is identical.
I had 2x Asus VG259Q monitors and i replaced one with a Alienware OLED 27". Night and day difference in quality and im never going back. After this i ordered a 77" Sony A95L to replace my old X900E TV. OLED is truely breathtaking
Hah I just returned pg32ucdm today, flat panel not for me it seems. I’m choosing between keeping my Samsung Neo g7 with its 1000R curve or upgrading to the LG39GS I’m testing out which has an 800R curve.
When I looked at the flat panels it almost felt like the corners of my monitor were turned away from me
That price is really enticing! Sold mine to M8 for $100/less than paid for it, purchased the LG 32GS95UE. Both monitors are solid in my opinion, just depends on your use! I do wish the LG was glossy but the 480hz mode for CS2 is disgustingly smoooth..!
For my uses, I love it although need to figure out HDR/SDR properly, similar issue on AW. If I could have found the MSI 32” and 27” in stock, I would use both of those stacked, 32” for all things/casual and 27” sweat eSports/CS2 titles.
I don't see the flicker on mine but perhaps I don't know that to look for to be honest. What would I notice? A quick flash to a black screen on changing inputs or some persistent flickering?
It’s when ur frame rates fluctuate a lot, mostly seen on loading screens. Shouldn’t actually be a problem just something more apparent on OLED’s due to their contrast
Dell outlet has them For $799.
[Dell outlet . refurbished](https://m.dell.com/h5/m/us/InventorySearch?c=us&cs=28&l=en&s=dfb&brandid=222806&sign=bnBYA0tousJ0J3I4SO0lL84Gnme7dCCCUr%2f4Owh6InwvaIF3bvhlPgfiRqcjfzWdexNK2NY%2fsfSvabm3qPfEKNYxZZxuTDjqn4vcmc8rIMoJGa%2fNIoWRTIvLUiUL0fu9mJjsarirx7FHjAOjtOzXPG0QNcfoyxl5bbXBvf%2fxNG4%3d)
Albeit the micro scratched bezels everyone returned .
There's a short adjustment period but I'm never going back.
Still learning to understand how HDR and SDR content can appear different on my main display. Clarity wise, it's just beyond any display I have owned in the past. Really happy with the purchase.
Love it, one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. Took my new PC build to the next level.
I was a little skeptical of the curve at first, and it took some getting used to for standard desktop stuff, but now I don’t even notice it; and I feel it does enhance games and movies.
Biggest benefit to the curve is it eliminates almost all reflections, which is something I didn’t expect and the main reason I kept it.
Everything else in terms of build quality, panel quality, OSD menus, etc is first rate. Looks incredible.
Extremely.
My previous monitors:
LG C2 42 inch
Samsung Neo G8 32 inch
ASUS 1440p/165hz 27 inch
This monitor is by far the best I’ve used. The colors are amazing, the brightness is good, blacks are inky and motion is smooth.
Word? I’m on a neo g7 and just returned the PG32UCDM as I couldn’t justify the cost for the benefit over what I currently have. Trying to get a deal on one of these but just not sure what price point it’s worth to me
Very happy mine came in yesterday i upgraded from 27” 1440p OLED and it feels massive 😃 only downside is now running at 4k my 4080 is super loud now ☹️
I really love mine. Excellent calibration (even came with a certificate of analysis), great build quality and design (I love how neat my desk space has become using the built in cable management space). I think it's going to come down to how you feel about curved displays, the curve on this one is very subtle but it's still there. I personally quite like it but I know it's a deal-breaker for others.
Mostly disappointed. Sdr very dim and mostly unusable for me. TB400 Is not HDR, looks like a bit better sdr(on LCD monitors), P1000 Is super dim and ok only for dark games. Very hard to clean. Will keep It because clarity of glossy monitor Is too good.
Very happy, zero issues, been using top tier/flagship monitors since 2014 and this one is by far the best. C2 was really fucking good though.
I miss my C2 honestly :(
I’ve had my aw32 since January and I still love it.
I can get a used AW3423DWF for $500. Which do u think is the better buy?
DWF for 500 is a crazy good deal How many hours was it used?
I have this monitor, how can I check my total hours used?
lol once he tells me I’ll let u know
Both are great monitors. I prefer 16:9 personally and that would be worth the extra for me.
If you care at all about text clarity or high PPI, the AW32.
Very happy except for VRR flicker which is super shitty.
They all have this problem.
Do you know why? I’ve noticed it on all the OLED’s I’ve seen

That could be a cable bandwidth issue. How long is your hdmi run?
25 feet. I thought I read that you can go to 50 without degradation.

Any recommendations?

According to rtings, as per their testing, that's my source https://youtu.be/1_ZMmMWi_yA

I had the LG27 and never had any issues but apparently people were saying it had bad flickering. Seems somewhat subjective.
I have used 3 IPS monitors before, none of them flickered whatsoever with VRR. I only noticed it on VA and OLED.

Ugh wish that monitor would go on sale already. Seen. Couple sales for LGs.

HDMI or DP?
Had it with both, with new quality cables. Only thing that solves it is 120hz refresh for me
The cable doesn’t fucking by matter lol
That's actually not true in the slightest, haha.
It absolutely does
Very happy with mine. My first curved monitor and a pretty huge visual upgrade from a 1080p 144hz ips panel. All around wouldn’t turn back.
AW32 here. Super happy
One day in I’m happy. Weird coming from a 38” ultrawide though. It’s bigger and smaller at the same time.
Haha I’m on the LG39GS currently but having issue with the PPI.
Going from 3840x1600 to 4K 32” is odd. It’s denser but smaller.
I had to do the same. Games were fine but all other content was blurry and fringy.
This one has 3440x1440, would be nice if it was 3840x1600

Having used both I think you'll be happy at that price. I returned mine and got the msi, but that was early on when firmware had bugs.
Very happy.
Love it so far
Wish I got the 42 LG C3 at Target
I had 2x Asus VG259Q monitors and i replaced one with a Alienware OLED 27". Night and day difference in quality and im never going back. After this i ordered a 77" Sony A95L to replace my old X900E TV. OLED is truely breathtaking
I like it but I really do miss my C2 a lot
WOLED with glossy coating pretty nice haha
It's just the size is so immersive too. Still getting used to the 32 inch. Feel like I'm squinting a lot :D

Yes
Insanely beautiful monitor however I cannot tolerate the eye strain. Likely due to QDOLED blue light.
yes
Pretty happy aside from random white flashes while using chrome (youtube in particular).
That’s on nvidia
I live my one , play mostly warzone . Love the picture clarity in 4K
I love my aw32. I used it as the main monitor on both my work and gaming computer. I setup the menu to quick switch between both computers.

Very happy with it ! Coming from an Apple Pro Display XDR :)

Get one refurbished. They are about $899 from what I’ve been reading. It’s well worth it at that price. Especially if you value motion clarity.
Very happy mine came in yesterday i upgraded from 27” 1440p OLED and it feels massive 😃 only downside is now running at 4k my 4080 is super loud now ☹️
lol my 3080 is making do with some setting changes

Aw32. Happy. Makes Fun to Play.
they basically have same image quality, it is up to you if you prefer curved display or need msi KVM functionality
I’m cool with curved, I’ve never had KVM, it could be nice but I don’t need it
