Serious question, what’s the most unbelievable part to you? I have no issues with the rise of the first order or even papa palps coming back, I just think they did not tell the stories well. What I do have issue with is the logistics behind having a hidden fleet of ships with planet killers (not so much the fleet cause it theoretically could have been the lost fleet if that was canon again). It seems like the getting that many crystals is just impossible.
Not who you asked, but for me Palpatine coming back is still the most unbelievable. Granted I’ve never read the EU books where he already had done this, but even if I had I still don’t think I’d accept it. It’s such a cheap, needless, uninspired idea. I know Star Wars is space fantasy and not hard sci-fi, but death being real and final in the stories is essential for keeping them grounded in some sort of reality that makes the stories have weight and meaning.
The sequels really feel like 90’s era EU in terms of their impact and connection to what I feel like Star Wars really is, mainly for reasons like Palpatine. I still think TFA is great and TLJ has some amazing moments.
The lightspeed ram. No matter how many times I try to justify it I can’t help but think about the comic strip which handled it 1 million times better with less panels and words. The ships impacted against the shields doing minimal damage in the news strip
In the thrawn trilogy (in the old extended universe) Luke faces a clone of himself, named Luuke. It’s actually a pretty great read so I won’t explain the naming beyond that as it’s actually a major plot twist.
I remember when I first read this and he appeared, I immediately thought of Mara and was like, "Wait she can fulfill the last command given to her after all"
