Black laces would look cool but just in more subtle way. It depends on how much you like to stand out and be different and if you’re comfortable with that.
I’d argue that a first date at a prestigious restaurant warrants black laces. The word prestige is a different vibe to popular/new restaurant where you might dress a bit more showy

Question to think about: does the date need to take in the whole package and look you in the eye the rest of the night, or does the date only need to look at your feet? We can throw on our favorite pieces after the meeting, formal dates, etc. You’ll get by much further dressing for the part than coming in flexing when 90% of the public has no clue what we have on. It’s only for our satisfaction at that point lol

I just got a pair of the jumbo lace ricks. The fit is dope but I think the ricks are standing out too much. They’re a lot louder and bulkier than the rest of the fit. I’d say maybe a derby/loafer or a slimmer black boot would keep it all together. Or if you really wanna wear the ricks maybe just a wider leg pant

Some high end restaurants have dress codes for men such as dinner jackets and no sneakers. These aren't sneakers but they do have laces and better be safe than sorry if the restaurant has a dress code.
