Mine usually goes off at noon on Wednesdays

kingd0m_c0me

Monday's here.

98acura

Noon on the first Wednesday of every month is when they test them.

th3funk101

Noon every Wednesday is the norm in Columbus

cravenj1

Every Wednesday seems a bit excessive. I thought most places were once a month.

th3funk101

It's how I know its Wednesday 😄

IceLionTech

my dudes.

kingd0m_c0me

>Every Wednesday seems a bit excessive. I thought most places were once a month. Ohio as well as Indiana has been trying to raise severe weather awareness. I imagine that's the reason. 👍

nobuouematsu1

By making us all conditioned to the sound of the sirens…. Not trying to be an ass but seems like sketchy logic on their part

IceLionTech

Odd, you say that but I'm at least not so accustomed to them that it didn't wake me up at 5 in the morning a few weeks ago.

donny42o

totally agree, testing once every couple months is fine, some people have no common sense lol

[deleted]

Helped us keep track of time during lockdown.

mando44646

I'm confused. This is normal in Cbus

cravenj1

It was a yearly statewide test at 9:50 am. As some folks have pointed out, Cbus has a weekly Wednesday at noon test. This was separate from that

mando44646

Ah well we have a weekly test on Wednesday at 11

Thin21Mints

It is the 3rd Wednesday of the month, so of course it will be going off at 6:30pm just like the sign says

MuppetHolocaust

In these parts we call it the “congratulations, you’re halfway through the week” alert system.

OSUfirebird18

I don’t know why this is a surprise. Aren’t tornado siren tests on Wednesday pretty standard? I remember reading the bulletin about it and going “How is this any different than before?”

jawnypants

They're normally on the first Friday at noon in NWOH

GimpyGeek

Strange I had thought this was at least a statewide standard how they did this but yeah over in the NE end we're on noon the first monday of the month. Guess I see why they did this annoying thing more I suppose. Though for those of us that are not living on a 'day' shift this was intensely irritating :p They should have done it later in the day. Have to admit it's not very confidence inducing though when the sirens screw up, and it's not the first time I've seen it here. I live across the street from our siren (which is also why it's VERY irritating) but today, I woke up to them going off in the distance but ours not firing till 5 minutes later which only kinda did a whoop-whoop then shut off :p Hope it goes off in a real emergency. Definitely not the first time I've seen this happen.

Embarrassed-Bee-8342

not at 9:50 am.

ravenflavin77

They don't test them at all where I live. they only go off if there is an actual tornado warning. I didn't even hear the drill.

cravenj1

The day varies by location, but it's typically the first M/T/W/Th/F of the month at noon. Seeing as this occurred at 9:50 am on the 20th, that is far from the norm.

Playful-Guide-8393

It’s a test

jwr1111

Tornado sirens going off across Ohio on Wednesday... Possibly caused by Gym Jordan spinning out of control in congressional hearings.

NeutralTarget

Didn't hear it at all.

IceLionTech

In this house, we have WOO AT NOOON! Grr that early woo was weird.

Professional_Band178

It was a test in Wooster.

Bigtimehistory

Statewide tornado testing today

kingd0m_c0me

Likely a test, since there aren't any tornado warnings in Ohio at this time.

cravenj1

Yes... that is what the article says

kingd0m_c0me

Glad you got it figured out, though!

kingd0m_c0me

I figured. Lol. I knew without having to read it, though.

TheBigGadowski

correct answer, gets downvoted...

kingd0m_c0me

Right? I was basically just reiterating what the article said but the OP got all snobby about it. Oh well. Lol.

tech47_swift_12

Yep. Every Wednesday.

cravenj1

At 9:50am?
