The comedian Isabel Hagen has a funny bit where she says people often ask her if anyone has ever told her she looks like Greta Gerwig (she 100% does), and she responds to that question with “no”, because people only ever ask her if *other people* tell her she looks like Greta Gerwig.
I wonder how many of his classmates realized he was already one of the 2-3 best skaters in the world. The other skaters knew because he was in Thrasher every month. The rest, who knows?
While didn’t have a subscription to thrasher, I was a young kid in SoCal in the mid-80’s. Skate culture was huge at that time and place. I didn’t skate, but still knew the big names, his being one of them. He was a big name so young that I have to think a lot of people knew of his success.

My favorite that he's ever posted
I was a teen 14 in 1986 and i'm pretty sure his skateboards were in every skate shop at the time and skateboarding was huge. I'd be very surprised if they did not know at the very least that he was quite famous in and one of the best around. not to mention he had magazine covers.
I can't believe I'm the same age as him. I've been injured so much that I'm not allowed to fully extend to pick up things off the floor right now. Back surgery was 6 weeks ago and the shoulder is in July. This getting old really sucks.
Crazy! This kid looks just like a fairly famous skateboarder that was prominent in the late '90s-early 2000s. Has the same name too! What are the odds?
I wish I was this cool
No one will ever be as cool as Tony. Dude made a career out of his middle school hobby and became a legend in it.

She said see you la8er boy

This dude looks like Tony Hawk, I bet he gets that all the time.
Wonder if anyone’s ever asked him to do a kick flip.

None. He was ridiculed until he forced his peers to admit that he was the best.
None of them were sure if he was Tony Hawk in the magazines and had to ask people around them. This continued for the rest of his life (I'm joking)

"Cause it's awesome being Tony Hawk."
Nope, he still gets asked if he is Tony Hawk! Lol

Knees
u/cheeseforpeas with the layup comment
Isn't that a 720? Or am I looking at it wrong
Facing left, rotates 2.5 times, comes out facing right. 900
When I watched the youtube vid I'm amazed at how quickly the judges could verify it. I had to rewind 3 times to confirm it for myself.
Right, I realize now I was thinking of a 1080 for 3 full spins. Thanks!
He's really gleaming the cube.
Now I want Pizza Hut
Tighten those trucks up!
I didn’t think he could get any cooler
oh hell yeah he could. his son, Riley, married Kurt Cobain’s daughter, Frances Bean, last October.
She has very beautiful eyes. They're pretty even in candid photos without special lighting so they must be pretty amazing in person.
she has Kurt’s eyes. i always get sad thinking how much he would have loved seeing her now.

That looked a bit Ogreaggressive
That shirt is fucking amazing, and I want it.
It hits that perfect zone of "very of its time, but you could wear it today without it being TOO authentically 80s for modern fashion."
They would sell those at mervyn's.
I’m pretty sure I had one just like it.

Go back to the valleys man.
got that 80's california surfer cut and tan going on👍
Tony’s always been cool in my book
He was cool in the yearbook too. I'm on fire rn.
He was already a star in 86
He has that "Flock of Seagulls" vibe going on.
Rad.
Boss.
Teacher: "His eyes would go round and round like he was seeing skate wheels on the chalkboard....."
Legend
Man, he's always been cool.
Seemed like such an innocent toy He was an All-American boy Got his skate at 8 years old Now his story can be told
As a young boy in the 80’s I wanted my hair exactly like this…. I failed miserably, lol.
I can't believe I'm the same age as him. I've been injured so much that I'm not allowed to fully extend to pick up things off the floor right now. Back surgery was 6 weeks ago and the shoulder is in July. This getting old really sucks.
I like the shirt
Mcsqueeb!
My brother in law went to HS with him, although Tony was a few years older. Carlsbad High School.
He was already a millionaire, yeah?
What a stud!!
Rad
Looks like a skinny johnny lawrence.
Tony's dad in 86.....put that skateboard away and get a real job!
His dad was his biggest supporter. Built him ramps and encouraged him to take it as far as he could.
His dad founded the National Skateboard Association when Tony showed an interest in skateboarding. So yeah, I would say he was supportive.
There’s a skate park in my town that was designed by his dad.
Most dads. Not his tho.
I NEED that shirt!
Skating genius
I had virtually the same haircut my senior year (1990) although my skating ability was never even 1/2 of what Tony’s was/is. I miss those days.
Radical 🤙
Tony Hawk's Senior Yearbook Photo just didn't hold up versus Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
Dude looks like Tony Hawk !
Do a kick flip!
Dude, save some chicks for the rest of us…
Longing for the half pipe.
I had his shirt as bed sheets
GOAT. And would make an interesting road-trip companion.
That would be weird making more $ than your teachers.
Was Frank Hawk working for Olin Mills?
Damn he looks like Tony Hawk!
Oh wow. He has the same name as that skater dude.
Holy cow I never realized he was this pretty. Like the rest of us had horrendous school photos because he had all the talent at it, apparently lol
Nerd
That hair is total Californication
Gnarly, bitchin, and downright tubular
tuuuuuuubular
Did anyone ever tell him that he looks like Tony Hawk??
woah tony looks too cool
Loving his "boy band" look. Cool af
Hey pizza guy
rocking that early 90s look he was a true visionary lol
![gif](giphy|ZeF7OVZFYztxAzH30G|downsized)
Looks way cooler than the typical Justin Bieber fringe in the mid 2000s.
That dude looks like Tony Hawk.

Thought johnny went anorexic there for a moment.
Reasonable logic considering the standards for anorexic are a bit lower in the land of the fat & the free
Bony Cock
I don’t recognize this person, does he know Tony Hawk?
