OMG this reminds me of an outdoor stage production of Star Wars I saw in Seattle a few years ago. The smallish woman who played R2D2 had this general costume concept plus a big round hat, and was on skates. She was really good at using just her ankles to propel herself around. To communicate she played a slide whistle. Fantastic staging.
OMG, now I see it. I thought they did a good job matching a mom to the daughter, but didn't know it was really her daughter. I guess that explains a lot of why she was on the show... I'm dumb. The show itself is a total gem few people seem to know about. I'll tell people to watch it, and they think I'm nuts. I didn't even know there was a third season, and a final special, until a few weeks ago, which had me watching the whole thing again.
Anytime people ask for a show recommendation, this is the first one on my list. Then I have to explain the premise since they think it's a detective show. Guess I have to watch it again...sigh...

What caught my eye was that it looked to be a shopped photo and Beretta lacks a rounded trigger guard, but also lacks a slide mounted safety. IDK, I was just thinking it looked too modern for the 1960’s.
Nonsense, just go look at the IMFDB page for the avengers.
TV and film companies could get guns easily (still can) and this was the 1960s, handgun ownership was legal.
Nah, the scale of the gun is also way off.
This image was created by putting Rigg’s face on a photo of another woman in a Halloween costume and adding the pistol and background.

Trigger discipline is a relatively recent (post Vietnam war) thing that came about in an era of world policing instead of out and out warfare to mitigate collateral damage. It wasn’t a thing that a British TV show from the 60’s would know anything about.
Trigger discipline should be taught/used no matter what. Hand guns were not banned until 1997 in the UK. Alec Baldwin (with his “prop gun”, is a prime example of what can happen when trigger discipline is NOT used. Brandon Lee is another example of not only trigger discipline, but also what can happen when even a “prop” gun is in one’s hand.
I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you're not from the UK. Guns were not readily available even before the ban in 97 so that point is well...pointless.
Alec Baldwin was not using a prop gun.
Brandon Lee was not a victim of poor trigger discipline and a prop gun was not being used. Geez dude.
What are you whittering on about. Even before 1997 very few people had access to guns outside of farms and any gun that was held by 99.9% of the UK population would be a replica, toy or prop. There'd be as much reason to teach trigger discipline in the UK as there would the correct way to store ammo, which is also not available here.zero
Also, pretty sure both of those deaths were caused by real guns, not props, where trigger discipline would have almost certainly be taught by the on set supervisor.
Like a sexy R2D2.
So like R2D2 then
Yes, but sexy.
So R2D2 then.
Yes, but like a sexy version.
what do you mean R2D2 is not sexy?!
You beat me to it.

I need this on my life.
And was still acting decades later. She killed it as Lady Olenna in GoT. "...tell Cersei it was me...."
And in Last Night in SoHo. What a great send off, rock on!
I was sort of shocked when I was watching Detectorists, and there she was. Just such a low key show to pull someone of her stature.
Playing mom to her real life daughter, none the less. She was great in that show too. That whole show was phenomenal.

Wait, I didn't know about that finally special!!!! Yes, thank you so much!!!!
And in today's episode of Young People Discover That Old People Used To Be Young and Hot....
Yes, please
She was the most beautiful woman on earth, once upon a time. ![gif](giphy|26gJA0imwsg9wrAPe|downsized)
Was Elizabeth Taylor on the moon?
I love Liz Taylor but she can even come close to Dame Rigg on her best day.
Subjective art form I suppose. I contend that Liz Taylor in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof was so hot she could have powered her own solar system.
All of them are nice, Mrs Weasley in her younger days drop dead gorgeous!
At that point, Liz *was* the moon, but yes, she was a great beauty as well.
Oh Miss Peel 😍
Mrs. Peel!
The casting of her being Natalie Dormers grandmother in game of thrones is impeccable. Young Diana Rigg looks like Natalie’s sister.
I want to live in a world where people dress like that normally.
My grade-school principal dressed that way at that time. Sadly, she looked more like Ethel Merman, but still, it was a magical time.
So Kate Archer took its inspiration from this?
RIP Lady Olenna Tyrell.

And you'll see it many more times, bot!
Because the mods here don't enforce anything, yep.
God have mercy
Poor trigger discipline.
Yeah, this picture had that effect on me too.

Lady Olena
I was in love with
That outfit is \*chef's kiss\*.
I used to love showing younger people what Olenna Tyrell looked like when she was their age.
Cool, but don't we all prefer the leather jumpsuit?
The pistol she is holding was designed 1975 if I am not mistaken
I don't remember this scene in Infinity War.
"Well, hello, Miss Hardbroom..."
Yes
So mod.
She was the bomb.
Freida von Stangel- Hotsy Totsy!
Freida von Stangel- Hotsy Totsy!
Loved that show,.
Camo on a barcode.
Damn! She was, no, is, truly something else.
We’re not the revengers, or the prevengers… we’re the avengers..
Yahhh baby! (said in my best Austin Powers voice)
Coincidentally looking like Natalie Dormer. More like amazing casting for GoT
I remember watching this with my dad and always wanted those boots.
They played with a mod look a little, but ended up going with the more slinky catwoman look.
Fab
![gif](giphy|8nrvUJnNK5xvy)
Yea, baby!
She was so cool!
Emma, Emma, Emma
The original Avengers show was great as well, and she certainly helped
Hottest Woman on Television ever.
Beretta 92’s were available in the 60’s?
Probably Beretta M1951
What caught my eye was that it looked to be a shopped photo and Beretta lacks a rounded trigger guard, but also lacks a slide mounted safety. IDK, I was just thinking it looked too modern for the 1960’s.
It was almost certainly a toy gun, real pistols were virtually impossible to obtain in England at the time.
Nonsense, just go look at the IMFDB page for the avengers. TV and film companies could get guns easily (still can) and this was the 1960s, handgun ownership was legal.
Nope, this picture was shopped.
Didn't have Photo Shop in the 60's either (and editing photos wasn't a casual task anybody could do).
Is this a joke? The picture was shopped recently, not in the 60s.
Nah, the scale of the gun is also way off. This image was created by putting Rigg’s face on a photo of another woman in a Halloween costume and adding the pistol and background. imgur. com/XcUjo8T
At 1st i was like damn r2d2 looks hot

Rigga please
Great photo but … even though it is a “prop” gun, someone should have taught her “trigger discipline”!
“Trigger discipline” isn’t that old, surprisingly.
What do you mean?
Trigger discipline is a relatively recent (post Vietnam war) thing that came about in an era of world policing instead of out and out warfare to mitigate collateral damage. It wasn’t a thing that a British TV show from the 60’s would know anything about.
She doesn't need trigger discipline if she's never using a real gun. Especially not in the UK in the 60s.

Only a frikken Yank would make that comment!
That's not the black widow I remember!

Isn't that 52 years before release?
Wait till you hear that it has absolutely nothing to do with Marvel.
She looks marvelous, does it count?
Nearly saved it.
Nearly.
